Dean
I head over towards the crowd of people. They stood around the countertop where Milan was dancing and twirling, kicking the contents off of the counter. Surprised she hadn't fallen yet, given her wobbly state-of-being.
"Come on. Get down from there." I pulled her down gently.
"Are you serious? Are you...ssserious? I was just getting started. I didn't even lose the shirt yet." She laughed. "And by the looks of you, you could lose the shirt."
I raised an eyebrow and took the cup she had out of her hand. Okay, drunk Milan is honest. "Okay.. how many of these did you have?"
"Um...5..no..6,7,8,9-what were we counting to?" She giggled, then she wrinkled her nose and looked at her hand. "My drink disappeared. Do you know where it went?"
I laughed a little. "I like this side of you.. it's hilarious."
"Which side? This one or this one?" She did two difference poses.
"I can't choose. I like them all." I smiled.
She giggled and swayed on her feet a little. Before she could open her mouth to speak, another song came on and she started to bob to the beat.
"Come, come dance with me." She smiled.
I stood on the spot and crossed my arms. "I don't dance."
She laughed. "Yes you do. You're just worried that-that your little wolf pack will see you. I know you have people here, Fuentes." She started to move those hips.
"It's not that, I just don't dance." I said pointedly.
She just shook her head and took my hands and placed them on her hips and guided me to the rhythm.
"Don't be shy." She smiled playfully as she put her hands on my shoulders.
"Trust me doll, I am far from shy." I said pulling her closer to me.
"That's good to hear." She giggled.
I swear... I have to have this girl. No doubt about it that she's mine.
I dance with her until I hear shots ringing throughout the room. People started to scream and scramble for cover. I grabbed hold onto her and held her tightly, shielding her.
"I hear that there is a Wolf and Spade in here!" Someone yelled.
"Wait... I know that voice.." she said struggling to get up when I held her back. "Let me go." She finally stood up and I stood up with her. "Oh! Hello, Lincoln. Look there's a link to the past. Haha. Get it? Like the video game?" She giggled tipsily at her own joke.
"You're here with him?" Lincoln asked. He had black hair and light brown eyes.
"You know this guy?" I looked at her.
"Yea.. he's an ex or are you the ex? Meh, no lo se. And to answer your question Linky Link...I happened to be here at the same place at the same time..yesss." she said in slurred sentences leaning on the counter.
"An ex? When did this happen?" I asked feeling outraged. No one should have had her but me! No one is allowed to talk to her!
"We ended it almost a year ago... he was the worst." She whispered but it was loud enough for him to hear it.
"Oh." Was all I managed to say.
Lincoln had a look of disbelief on his face. "Are you kidding me? I can hear you! You know that right?" He said angrily.
"I can hear me too! It's called ears! Ever used them?" She went into a giggle fit.
I had to cover my mouth to stop from laughing.. "Who, who are you supposed to be anyways?" I asked trying to keep a straight face, as Milan stood there inspecting her nails as if nothing was going on, and I had one arm resting on my gun.
"Leader of the Southside Scorpions." He said proudly.
Milan and I looked at each other and let out a snort.
"Southside Scorpions? We're in the wrong area for that name and aren't you stationed on the west side?" Milan laughed.
"So... you mean to tell me that you live on the Westside but call yourself the Southside Scorpions?" I laughed out loud.
"So Fuentes. What side do we live on?" Milan looked at me as she wiped a tear of laughter.
"Apparently the Southside. No.no.no wait... what's happening on the Southside?" I asked her holding back a laugh.
"I don't know. I live on the Westside." She laughed again.
"Wait...here's another dumb joke that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever... Why did the scorpion have a southern accent?" She snickered.
"I don't know, why?" I covered my mouth.
"I don't know either because he grew up out west!" Then we both doubled over laughing.
We heard the gun click. "Are you two finished because you guys are getting on my nerves." He pointed his gun at us.
Milan pulled hers out also and so did I. "Not a smart I idea." I said glaring at him.
"Once I knock you two off the list, my gang will rise. I don't have to deal with the likes of you two anymore." He smirked.
"Link...Lincoln. Linky Link," Milan said calmly," you dumb, beautiful, idiot... do you know who our fathers are? I don't know about his relationship with his dad is going-and I-I am sssurre it is crappy...but I know for sure my dad will personally hunt you down and make your last few breaths the most agonizing moments of your life."
I just stared at her the whole time. She did not have to put that little last bit in there about me. "Really? Thanks for putting that out there." I nudged her with my elbow.
"My pleasure." She smiled smugly.
Before Lincoln could pull the trigger, she shot him twice once on his gun arm and once in the knee.
"Nice." I smiled as we walked past him casually out of the front door.
"♩ I shot a gu-un while I was dru-unk. ♩" She sang and danced all the way to her car waving the gun wildly.
"Okay give me that." I took the gun from her hand.
"Geez sssir." She rolled her eyes.
"Where are your keys?" I held out my hand.
She held up a finger and fumbled around her back pocket and front pocket then patted her boobs and pulled them out of there. "Here ya go. Nice and toasty." She tossed them to me.
I rolled my eyes and led her to the passenger seat and I sat in the driver's seat.
This girl. She's a mess.
"Call Mikey. Use the Bluetooth." She said. I did as I was told and his phone rang.
"Que pasó?" He answered.
"How are you and where are you?" She asked.
"I'm fine. Lucas drove Lily home and since I'm drunk, I'm staying over at his place."
"Bueno. Así, talk to you later." She said.
"Okay bye." Then he hung up.
"Good thing he's fine, right?" I smiled.
"Shut up...." she mumbled.
"What?"
" I said shut up! He's seventeen, Fuentes. What were you thinking?" She asked quietly.
Can't tell her truth... Part of it was to be closer to her and the other part is well... complicated.
"A lot of things." I put it simply.
"Well your 'a lot of things' could have cost my brother his life." She covered her eyes with her arm.
"Well, lets be happy he didn't."
She sat up and faced me. "Dean I'm serious. Mikey isn't apart of any of this this life that we grew up in. He's completely innocent. I don't want him caught up in this life. As far as he is concerned, he's the only family I have left and I refuse to lose him to the streets... do you get that? He needs to get outta here." She looked at me intensely, her swirling silver eyes, illuminating in the darkness.. I quickly returned my attention to the road so I wouldn't veer off the road.
"Why....why didn't you leave?" I asked.
"Many reasons. One was for Mikey's sake and because my d- I mean Miguel ripped up all of my other acceptance letters." She said darkly.
"What a-"
"I have plenty of few choiced words to finish that myself." She giggles.
"I bet you do." I grinned.
After about fifteen minutes later, I pulled up to her apartment complex and found a parking spot.
"You know I find this quite disturbing that you know where I live. And I didn't give you any directions on how to get here." She eyed me suspiciously as I helped her out of the car and up the stairs to her apartment.
"I have connections." I put it simply.
"Damn creepy connections," she mumbled," hand me my keys por favor."
She held out her hand and I placed them in it. She unlocked the door and we both walked in. She immediately threw her jacket off onto the couch and kicked off her shoes.
"Gun please." She stood in front of me and I handed it to her. "Gracias."
Then she walked off into her room and I was left standing there awkwardly, but loving the berry aroma of the apartment. I looked around and saw a picture of this gorgeous medium toned woman with amazing curly hair and golden brown eyes and standing next to what looks like a 17 year old Milan.
...I can see where she gets her looks from... Milan walked out humming wearing pj shorts and an oversized T-shirt.
"Is that your mom?" I asked looking at her.
She walked over and glanced at the picture and smiled. "Sí. Means yes in Spanish." She giggled.
I shook my head and grinned. "What was her name?"
"Her name was Michelle. Funny... our whole family has M names.... Miguel, Michelle, Michael, and me! Milan." She smiled.
I chuckled. "That is funny. I like it."
"Me too." Then she covered her mouth and yawned. "Okay....time for me to sleep and you to go." She rubbed her eyes.
I crossed my arms. "Where, Milan? I have absolutely no ride."
"Call Jack. I'm pretty sure he'll be more than happy to give you a ride." She crossed her arms also.
"It's one something in the morning. He's not waking back up."
"And after tonight's events, I'm pretty sure Miguel is going to be here in the morning." She looked at me warning me.
"I don't care. And after tonight's events, I don't think it's safe to leave you alone." I stepped up to her. "And plus, it's only one night."
She looked at me then looked away...thinking long and hard about it.
"Okay. But you have to sleep on the couch." She pointed at me.
"How about you sleep on the couch and I sleep on the floor next to you." I smiled.
She groaned in frustration. "If that makes the situation less difficult fine!" She walked off towards the nearest closet and grabbed a blanket and a pillow.
"Where's mine?" I crossed my arms.
"You said nothing about sleeping comfortable." She cuddled up on the couch.
"Then I guess we have to share." I laid my head on the pillow next to her.
"Aye dios mío! You always gotta make things so difficult." She muttered as she turned away from me.
This girl... I swear she is going to be the death of me...
It wasn't before long when her soft snores permeated through the quietness of the apartment, then I found myself falling asleep too.
