Two days flew by after the incident between Aderonke and the maid. Aderonke refused to talk to her husband and remained at loggerheads with him. She survived on cereals and bread, she even refused to perform her matrimonial bed duties. She was content with holding her dead daughter's portrait on her bosom while she cried herself to sleep.

"When would you go to your boutique? It's been two weeks. You should be managing that instead of staying at home doing nothing. " Wale said, knotting his blue tie with the aid of the transparent glass mirror that was situated at a corner of the bedroom.

Aderonke looked up from the magazine she was surfing through and hissed aloud. She thought her husband would apologize instead he was trying so hard to make small talk which enraged her. She wondered if he was growing feelings for that daft maid since he was still eating the meals she prepared.

"That's none of your concern. I have a manager who overseers and reports to me about my boutique." Aderonke blurted, fluttering her eyelashes.

"You really have attitude issues. You should have remained mute." Wale replied slowly as he took hold of his briefcase.

"Is that how to apologize? You still don't want to settle what happened few days ago? You keep ignoring me and my demands." Aderonke sneered, sliding her feet into her slippers under the bed.

Wale dropped the briefcase on the bed and exhaled deeply before countering, "For Christ's sake, you have been the one ignoring me,you refused to talk or address me properly. You even refused to acknowledge that it wasn't Sewa's fault entirely. Haven't you burnt a full meal before? Everything is your fault and your volanco spirit. Do you even remember what today's date is?"

"Nothing is special about today so I don't think it's worth remembering." Aderonke yelled as she began to arrange the bed.

As she spoke, Wale's eyes grew wider and wider until it was almost comical.

"It's our wedding anniversary!" Wale finally said with a ting of awe hanging loose on his face.

"And what exactly are we celebrating? We are wedded with a loss of a child to show for it." Aderonke said as she shook her head.

"Can't you at least be grateful? God gives and he takes whom ever he wishes. Why are you hurting me like this?" Wale pleaded, his eyes holding back sheer disappointment.

"And why can't you be reasonable? What did I do to warrant this devastating torment? Did I sin against God? If I knew this is the way you were, I wouldn't have agreed to marry you." Aderonke shouted on top of her lungs.

"What's your problem? Didn't your mother teach you proper manners?" Wale wondered, rolling up his sleeves.

"Don't you dare bring my mother into this. It's not like your mother is any better." Aderonke responded as she straighted her shoulders and tried to tighten the reins around her emotions.

Wale gasped and tried to counter her statement but stopped in mid-sentence on hearing the quick vibration of her phone lying on the top dresser where she kept her exquisite deodorants and different types of body cream. They both stared at each other for a brief moment before Aderonke took the initiative to walk away and pick up her phone.

With a tight clutch on the phone followed by with a frustrated groan she said," Hello, how may I may you?"

"Hello Madam!"

Aderonke recognized the thin voice that boomed from the receiver and replied," Why are you calling me? I thought you didn't want me to intervene anymore in the investigation."

"The autopsy results are out, you and your husband's attention are needed in the police station. I'll be waiting." The phone made a off-putting noise and the connection was altered.

Only then did Aderonke notice that her husband was leaning over her left shoulder, eavesdropping on the brief conversation and folding his hand under his chin.

"She hung up the phone on me, I wanted to beat that sassy detective to it." Aderonke muttered and grumbled childishly with a pout on her face.

"So go and take your bath and let's be on our way." Wale ordered and sat on the bed, reaching out to check the time on his Rolex wristwatch.

"What are you doing? Shouldn't you be on your way to work? I am sure your workers must really need your attention since it's Monday. I'll handle it." Aderonke replied sarcastically with a mischievous smile dancing on her lips.

Wale bit his bottom lip before throwing a cold glare at his wife.

"I don't trust you around people anymore that's why I am going with you to the station and I can't allow you to embarrass me." He said with a deep sigh.

Aderonke dumped the phone on the bed and stamped her feet angrily till she got to the bathroom. She removed her clothes hastily and turned on the tap, the loud clapping of the water against the bath tub calmed her nerves.

"I am very sorry about what has happened between us in the past few days. Can you just let it go?" Wale begged as he took the last turning that headed directly towards the police station.

Aderonke tapped her palm against her red peplum skirt that filled her full hips and feigned ignorance to her husband's soft remark, her heart was begging to grab her husband by the chin and give him a kiss that showed how much she loved him amidst their arguments that happened on a regular basis but she simply clenched her right hand which hanged on loosely into a fist and her left hand grabbed the buckled seat belt tightly.

"Are you still angry? You know I didn't mean what I said. Look at me, my darling." Wale persisted further as soon as he released the key from it's hole.

Aderonke knew that if she stayed a second late, she might end up in his arms. She quickly unbuckled her seat belts and motioned to her husband with her eyes that she wanted to leave.

"Alright." Wale concluded helplessly, reaching out to click the passenger door open and he stepped out slowly out of the car.

Aderonke walked smartly and stylishly placing a leg cautiously after the other. The glint in her eyes was dangerous and even in her early forties, her body shape would send men begging on their knees for her affection even with the solitaire ring that adorned her fourth finger on her left hand.

She stopped on her track when her husband suddenly grabbed her waist and intertwined her arms with his. She noticed he had that boyish possessive frown on his face and she chuckled softly.

"It's not funny when we argue and you dress up looking so pretty." Wale said as he placed a finger into his ear.

"It's also not funny when you refuse to listen to me." Aderonke retorted.

They walked in silence, both not saying a word to the other but their body language said otherwise. The warmth that radiated from Wale's hands melted her heart. Aderonke strode into the office first before her husband.

She sighted Ada by the window who was deep in thought with her hands buried inside her pants pockets, her face bare without makeup and it was still beautiful even with the little spots that was scattered all over her brown forehead.

Aderonke cleared her throat loudly which startled Ada who turned back in a flash and bowed her head slightly.

"Good morning sir and ma, it's so nice to see you again." Ada said gleefully as she reached to shake their hands.

"Let's just get to the business of the day and please stop pretending that you are really happy to see us most especially me." Aderonke replied bluntly, shifting a chair backward before sitting on it gracefully like a Queen.

"Alright then." Ada stated with a small smile as she proceeded towards her desk and sat down, she then opened a large brown envelope and brought out it's content carefully.

"You called about the autopsy?" Aderonke asked, placing her manicured nails on the dusty black desk.

"Yes I did, but the results partaking your daughter's autopsy is quite sensitive and I need to be certain that you can take it maturely before I divulge it." Ada continued as she scratched the sides of her lips nervously.

"Of course, we can take it." Wale said hurriedly.

"Just say it. We are her parents." Aderonke shouted, her face hard as a rock.

"Well......you.....see. I need you to calm down, ma'am." Ada gulped as she looked briefly at the paper in her hands before folding it neatly on the desk.

Aderonke patted her palm against her forehead before replying slowly,"Because of what you just said, I can't be calm."

"Sir, I want you to do me a favor, I want you hold your wife tightly before I disclose what's in this paper." Ada pleaded, looking at Wale.

"Can't you speak? What's all this rubbish?" Aderonke muttered angrily, flaring her arms in the air.

"Maybe I should just postpone this meeting." Ada concluded while rubbing her hands together.

"You better talk this instant, young woman before I lose my temper." Aderonke replied sternly as she banged the table loudly which caused Ada to flinch in her seat.

"I am so sorry but the result of the autospy states that your daughter was pregnant before she died. The foetus died due to the gruesome stabbing and from what I think, the person who murdered your daughter knew she was pregnant." Ada said slowly, voicing out each word sadly.

For Aderonke, it felt like the walls that held her together came crashing down. Her eyes widened in shock as she beckoned on Ada to repeat her previous statement, her breathing was ragged and raspy. Her hands were shaking and her mouth was agape with no words in it.

"Whose daughter are you referring to?" Aderonke whispered as she shifted her body in the chair, her interest in the subject raised to the climax.

Wale simply sighed and held on to his wife's right hand.

"I told you to calm down, ma'am." Ada replied gently with a slight shake of her head.

"I am very calm, please tell me it's not my daughter, maybe there was a mistake with the autospy. Check properly. My daughter's name is Bimbo Williams." Aderonke begged as she covered her face in her hands, involuntary tears ready to flow down her cheeks.

"I am so sorry, the autospy is authentic. You can check it yourself." Ada replied, sliding the paper over to Aderonke.

Aderonke grabbed the paper immediately in her hands and studied it with her eyes. Her face refusing to leave the sheet, her cheeks were stained with infinite tears as her fingers shook as she tried to take tighten her hold on the paper.

Aderonke suddenly crumpled the paper in a ball and threw it at Ada. She released her husband's hold on her right hand and rose up on her feet.

"I don't care about what the autospy states, I know my daughter."Aderonke cried as she stormed out of the office.

*************

"Are you going to lecture me on how I should act in public?" Aderonke began as she wiped the tears from her brows when her husband slid into the car seat.

"What she said is true. It's hard to take but Bimbo was actually pregnant." He said with guilt laced in his voice.

Aderonke's chest rose and fell, she stared at her husband for a second before speaking," How is that possible? She wasn't showing any symptoms of pregnancy and Bimbo wasn't dating anyone. Could she possibly have defied the warnings I gave her?"

"I really don't know but I need you to please calm down." Wale begged as he patted her shoulder.

"I don't know how to calm down. I don't know what to do or think." Aderonke sobbed as she extended her arms and drew her husband into a hug.

"It's alright, I am here for you, my love." Wale encouraged, rubbing her back in assurance.

Aderonke broke away from the hug and placed a shaking palm on her husband's cheek, her eyes refusing to leave her husband's face.

"Wale, do we really know Bimbo?" She asked in a hushed tone.
