Happy new year everyone!
May this year be your year of celebration 🎉
Ada's jaw hanged open as she listened to a sobbing Aderonke.
“So...give me one reason why I should believe that my husband has something to do with my daughter's death?" Aderonke said.
Ada scratched her neck, “I don't know.."
“Anyways now that you have listened to my pathetic story. Do you see that circumstances are different? So now, act like a detective. An arrogant and a competent one. " Aderonke growled.
“Here we go again. Her wahala has started." Ada muttered uncontrollably.
“Which wahala?" Aderonke mused. "Don't piss me off when I have just started to like you." Aderonke crossed her legs.
“So you actually...like me and you were pretending to hate me. I see, wahala for who dey disguise. " Ada sighed with a smirk etching by the side of her lips.
“I wasn't pretending not to like you. I just wasn't interested...in knowing you at that very moment. You were very annoying but now...you are just... bearable. " Aderonke voiced out.
Ada smiled sweetly before folding her arms under the table.
“I want to ask you something, Aderonke. " Ada said.
“Go on as long as money isn't involved. " Aderonke urged.
“How...are you feeling right now?" Ada spat suddenly.
“Why are you asking me that?" Aderonke glared at her.
“I wanted to ask you that because...you tease, smile and joke irrespective of the fact that your daughter...is dead. I just wanted to know.... "
“If I'm running mad abi?" Aderonke completed with a sneer on her face.
Ada shook her head violently, “I-I didn't mean it like that. It's just so weird and odd. You aren't...even wearing black. You are wearing pink and I'm just worried that...you r mask will come off soon. "
“T-The mask I wear?" Aderonke's eyes began to water, “I have...been wearing this mask for months now, watching my friends mock me by sending me invitations of their naming ceremony. I have watched my husband grow into...a stranger and now... I'll be honest with you since you asked. I'm not fine. I'm struggling to hold on to my sanity, I'm trying hard not to break this case on your head. " Aderonke pointed to the large vase by the side of the door.
“I am glad that you... opened up to me. But how are we going to confirm if your husband had anything to do with her death? We have to be certain...we might just just be jumping into conclusions." Ada probed.
“I'll speak to him. I'll confirm myself. " Aderonke replied with a nod.
“Should I follow you?" Ada asked.
“Are you my babysitter?" Aderonke snarled.
Ada nearly chuckled, “No, I just want you to ask him in the healthiest and safest way possible. "
“Of course, after all. He's my husband." Aderonke replied and rose up on her feet.
“Why are you leaving so soon?" Ada folded her arms around her bosom.
“Do you want me to sleep here?" Aderonke teased, “In your dusty office?"
“Not at all. Have a great day..Ma...I mean.... Aderonke. " Ada replied.
She watched as Aderonke stepped out of her office gracefully. Her lips widened into a perky smile. Aderonke wasn't an iron lady. She was just trying to envelope the pain which was impossible because as far as Ada was concerned, Aderonke was a ticking time bomb that was only waiting for a stupid person to pull the trigger.
Ada felt stiffness in her limbs and she decided to take a quick stroll. She dropped her gun on the desk and partially left her door open. She took out her phone from her back pockets at looked at the time.
It was 6pm.
She nearly screamed. She had been talking to Aderonke for the past three hours. She hissed quietly and decided to go outside the station. She was about to take a sharp bend around the hallways when she heard Kola and someone laughing.
Her heart leaped and she walked forward. She hoped that it wasn't Stella because if it was, she would drag the prostitute by her scanty hair. Her mind relaxed on noticing that Kola was talking with Osaze.
Wait, why Osaze?
She walked forward and observed them from afar. She noticed that when Kola's eyes met hers, he began to laugh hysterically.
Ada shook her head distastefully. What a crazy man. She decided to step up the game. She grinned before catwalking towards both men. She pretended not to see Kola and shot Osaze a playful smile.
“Osaze. Where have you been na?" Ada asked, “I wanted to tell you that I am free...next tommorow."
“I have been with Kola since morning. I don't even understand. It's like he loves me too much." Osaze laughed and Kola laughed as well which caused a few pair of eyes to check his sanity.
“Are...you referring to....?" Osaze scratched his head nervously.
“W-What?" Kola asked, unable to control his jealousy.
“Yes." Ada chanted."My answer is yes!"
“Y-Yes to what?" Kola's eyes went red with anger.
“We are getting married na... that's why I said yes." Ada replied sarcastically and watched as Kola's expression faded into sheer annoyance on realizing the games she was trying to pull.
“She's just joking. You know how Ada can be na." Osaze prompted playfully.
“It's not everything in...life that is a joke, Osaze. Let's go and talk somewhere else. " Kola replied.
“I am not done speaking with you, Osaze. Let's go to my office. " Ada grabbed Osaze's wrist.
“It's not by force, Ada. It's not by force. Osaze, let's go jor. " Kola slapped Osaze's shoulder playfully.
“Should I go, Ada? We can talk later then. I'm sorry but I don't want to..." Osaze stuttered but was cut off suddenly.
“It's fine. You can go." Ada shrugged and pretended to be angry.
“Kola, I-I think Ada is pissed. Maybe we should...."
“Let's go jor. That's the way Ada will use vegetable soup and carry your destiny away. Can't you see she's trying to seduce you to stay?" Kola replied and then faced Ada, “Your plan won't work. It has failed. Kolewerk"
And with that Kola dragged a bewildered Osaze and from the corner of his eyes, he could see Ada giving him her middle finger.
“Well played, Well played." Ada muttered angrily and stomped towards her office.

“Give me...that one." Aderonke pointed dramatically as she stood elegantly under a medium sized umbrella in the black market.
“Madam, are you sure? See, I don't want police wahala that is why I have been asking you why you want to buy a gun." The young man dressed in a tattered jean and faded shirt probed.
“Abeg, just give me. Is it not money you want?" Aderonke retorted.
The young man stepped backward with his arms outstretched, “Abeg madam, I don't want problem. Wetin you wan use gun do?"
“I want to use it and kill you...ode." Aderonke batted her dreadfully long eyelashes at him.
“Okay, you can buy it. But it's you and the police o." The young man huskily replied while giving her the gun in a small brown bag. Aderonke shoved the gun into her purse and gave the young man his money hurriedly before walking away.
In her heart, she knew there was no way Wale would confess or say anything without pressure and that, she needed. She chuckled humourlessly as she sighted her car in the parking lot. The detective asked her to do it in the safest way possible and this was the safest way... ironically.
