Ada buried herself in paperwork all day as she ate cheeseballs and a bottle of zobo she bought from a middle-aged woman outside the office. Sitting lazily on her brown large desk was Bimbo's phone which she had unlocked expertly. The contents she found in the application, Notepad amazed and baffled her. She contemplated on telling Aderonke. She was sure that the woman might end up fainting in her office or causing a really large ruckus but again Aderonke didn't deserve to be left out in the dark.

She held her phone and sighed. She was going to waste her airtime on calling that arrogant... annoying but pitiable woman. She was about to unlock her phone when someone knocked softly on her office door.

“Come in!" she yelled.

She hurriedly threw Bimbo's phone into her top drawer and flipped over a couple of files unto her desk.

“Good afternoon, Ada. "

Ada looked up and to her dismay. It was Osaze Matthews. The robust, annoying policeman who kept chasing her for five years. She hadn't seen him in nine months since he took a leave away from work. She noticed that he had slimmed down and was now trim and muscular. He looked a lot more athletic than Kola. His black top stuck to his powerfully built body. His chocolate skin was now popping and he looked identical to Anthony Joshua.

“Like what you see?" Osaze chuckled.

Ada was almost drooling from the drastic shock she had experienced.

“To be honest, yeah. " Ada laughed.

“It's been a long time, Ada. How have you been?" Ozase asked.

“Very good and how about you? How was Abuja?" Ada spoke.

“I am very good as you as see." Osaze flexed his muscles while sitting on a chair.

Ada placed a fake smile on her face. Was he trying to seduce her by using his body?

“And Abuja has been great so far. I'm planning on staying there full time and I...was also wondering if you would want to work... with me in Abuja. " Osaze said.

“Well...I don't know. I like working here but I'll consider your offer." Ada shot a smile at him.

“I missed seeing your beautiful face o." Osaze commented.

“Thank you." Ada responded.

“And you...have also added weight...in the right places." Osaze continued.

“I know right." Ada chuckled softly.

“I am just wondering...how are you and Kola? I heard...that you broke off your engagement with him." Osaze said hastily.

Ada furrowed her brows. Was he here because he missed her? Or he just wanted to confirm that she and Kola were over for good?

“Yes...we aren't together anymore. That's how life is." Ada shrugged.

“Really? That's great...I mean very bad to hear." Osaze replied.

“Sure..." Ada scratched her head.

With a nervous smile on his face, Osaze accidentally pushed some files off the desk down to the ground and he chuckled softly.

“Sorry." And he bent down to reach for the files. Ada stood up from her desk and crouched low to catch some of the files that were being carried away by the wind. Ada and Osaze reached for the same paper at the same time and they began to bicker.

“I got it Ada." Osaze started.

“No, I got it, Osaze. You can let go." Ada stubbornly answered.

“Still so stubborn and feisty ehn?" Osaze observed.

“Na you sabi o." Ada joked and rose up on her feet.

“What's that on your hair...is that soap?" Osaze laughed.

Ada began to ruffle through her hair, trying to look for what Osaze commented on.

“W-Where? Where is it? Where did you see it?" Ada asked frantically.

Osaze reached up and removed the ribbon that Ada used to tie her head and placed it into his trouser pocket. Ada glared at him with a confused and angry expression.

“Your hair looks beautiful when it's down. The ribbon is simply hiding your beauty." Osaze winked.

Ada hissed, “So where's the soap?"

Osaze laughed, “There's no soap, Ada. Don't you know how to flirt?"

Ada hissed aloud again,“Honestly Osaze, you have a big problem, a very big one."

“My only problem...is you Ada." Osaze spoke with seriousness.

“Men and wooing sha. So money isn't your problem in this life?" Ada clapped her hands dramatically.

Osaze pushed his seat closer, “Money is my least problem now. I was... thinking maybe you and I can go...see a movie maybe the day after tommorow since it's your...you know na."

“My what?" Ada looked at him in awe.

“Your birthday... It's the day after tommorow." Osaze said.

“How are you always remembering my birthdays? Don't tell me that's the reason why you came back to Lagos?" Ada laughed.

“If I said yes, what will you do?" Osaze chuckled.

“Well maybe we can see a....."

Ada was about to give him a affirmative reply when Kola bursted into her office without looking. Was he eavesdropping on their conversation because he came at the perfect freaking time.

“My guy, How far na? See the way you are fresh everywhere." Kola commented with a cheeky smile as he shook Osaze's hands.

“Stop whinning me jare. You even look fresher than me." Osaze shook his head.

“I am really serious o. Did you come here to steal all the Lagos babes? You slimmed down a lot o." Kola replied.

“I just came here to visit a couple of friends and see... Ada." Osaze smiled at Kola.

Kola's brows went up, “Ehehn? Really?"

“Yes and how did you know I was here?" Osaze asked while Ada kept shaking her head at Kola who pretended not to see her.

“Well, I was looking for you and I thought you went to your office or something and I found out that you were here...and I was wondering that what is Osaze doing here when his office is at the other side of life? You are really passing boundaries, my guy." Kola chuckled.

“It's nice to see that you... missed me when we barely even talk." Osaze laughed.

“I know right...why don't we go talk in my office? I have to know everything that went down in Abuja. You must gist me, my guy." Kola clicked his fingers at Osaze.

“Alright...But I was talking to Ada about...."

“See, my lunch break will soon be over so let's just talk now." Kola winked at him.

Osaze turned to look at Ada who had one of her hands on her cheek.“Ada, I'm coming ehn. I'll talk to you later."

“Okay." Ada smiled at Osaze and watched as Kola lured Osaze out of the office. In-depth she knew that Osaze would never return because Kola won't allow him. Kola had a silent hatred for Osaze since he publicly showed affection for her.

She then shook her head again. Kola was the one who kept pushing her away but he wouldn't allow anyone near her.

What a confused human being.

Ada yawned as she looked through the files again. She contemplated on going back to the hospital to see Sade when her phone rang.

She looked at the caller ID.

Aderonke was calling her for the seventh time. Reluctant to pick it up, she dropped her phone back in the desk.

What did that woman want? Maybe another  outing to drink wine?

“I knew that you won't pick up your phone." Someone spoke and Ada placed her hand on her chest in fear. When did she enter her office?

“Please madam, don't ever scare me like that again. You should have knocked." Ada spat as she watched Aderonke sit on a chair.

“And you should have picked my calls." Aderonke frowned.

“So why are you here madam?" Ada asked.

“First of all, I bought you a new phone." Aderonke brought out an iPhone 11 from her bag.

“You really.... don't have to..."

“Seriously you don't want it? Then I'll take my thing back." Aderonke smiled and was about to place the phone back into her bag when Ada spoke.

“On second thought, I'll just collect it since you gave me." Ada stretched out her right hand.

“I really don't understand you. Why are you asking for the phone when you rejected it the first time? No wonder that you are such an incompetent detective." Aderonke retorted.

“If I was truly incompetent, you wouldn't be here." Ada gritted her teeth before giving off a fake smile.

“The way you smile is really terrible. Has anyone ever told you that?" Aderonke shook her head.

“Actually, you are the first." Ada chuckled.

There was a pregnant silence between them for a couple of minutes before Ada spoke;

“Uhmm...what can I do for you Madam?"

Aderonke took out an hankerchief from her purse and dabbed her eyes before talking, “First of all, I hate it when you call me Madam. Call me Aderonke."

“Okay.....Ma...I mean Aderonke." Ada corrected herself.

“And secondly, I find it disgusting and very...hard but you are the only person I want to talk to right now because you are the only person I can trust at this very moment." Aderonke replied.
