Chapter 33
Still in the wintery days, there was a hue of faint amber sunbeam dazzling through the thick snow white clouds. It was kinda warm, because winter was going to end in some days.
Walking in the park with Jungkook to his right, and Eunhi to his left, Jimin inhales the fresh air in the green atmosphere, the refreshment zoning at it's peak.
Jungkook gets a phone call, probably from one of his classmate, as he backs away, putting the phone to his ear.
"Hyung, I need to go meet Soobin...he needs my help in some work." He informs, stuffing his phone back.
"Sure, you should go." Jimin replies and Jungkook nods before exiting the park, vanishing in the thick shade of the trees.
Nodding and humming lowly, Jimin glance here and there awkwardly as he ruffles his dry locks, pulling his white mask down to his chin.
"Eunhi, you remember?"
Eunhi, being lost in her own imaginary world, flinch at his words, slowly turning her head to meet his eyes.
"Wh-what?"
"The last time we came here, I had to leave because of some personal work."
Remembering the time when it was his birthday and Eunhi's job was to distract him, she nods looking down at the ground.
"I remember."
"We can enjoy this day... together... if you want." He looks into her eyes before looking around.
"Sure, I don't have anything else to do anyways." Simply answering, Eunhi turns her head around, looking at the small kids playing nearby, bringing a soft smile to her face.
"Let's go to some cafe. I'm craving for coffee for so long." Jimin suggests, poking his inner cheek with his tongue.
Chuckling, Eunhi lifts her head to look at Jimin, "but you had coffee in the morning?"
"I can drink coffee the whole day and still not get enough." Jimin laughs shyly, turning his feet to the exit of the park with Eunhi following by his side.
Before crossing the road, Jimin fiddles with his fingers, as his hand reaches out to capture Eunhi's cold hand.
Eunhi gasps when Jimin's warm hand interlocks with her own, a slight blush taking over her cheeks.
"There is traffic. Better stay together." Jimin warns, looking here and there.
Crossing the road together and coming across a cafe, not a very modern one but neither too old fashioned, Jimin stops as he glance at Eunhi.
"What about here?"
"As you wish..." Eunhi calmly replies as the two of them enter the cafe, with the soft jingling sound of the bell echoing inside.
-----------
"Come on son, you can't just do this...you're going to have a family soon."
Listening to the harsh words coming out of his father's mouth for the past ten minutes, Ji Hoon curses under his breath, swiping his hair back in annoyance.
"Dad...give me time."
"You don't have time! That's the problem. I want you to take over this business and help me. I don't even know what you're doing for days being away from home..." His dad sighs, rubbing his forehead.
"I just can't.... I have my own life and I'm doing something worth earning a sufficient livelihood." Ji Hoon turns to face his father, his bold eyes sparkling against the dull wrinkled eyes of his father.
"Why don't you share anything with me? I'm your father, not your foe!" Now turning his voice a bit louder, his father jerks Ji Hoon's shoulder.
"You know I always keep everything private. Why don't you just understand and let me live peacefully?" Ji Hoon growls, losing control over his words as his father's face turns into a frown.
"Will you keep doing this even after marrying Eunhi? What would she think? She's such an angel and I don't want their family to regret wedding
her into our pedigree."
Ji Hoon grits his teeth at these words.
"I- I'll find a way out of it. Just give me some time..." Ji Hoon looks in his father's eyes, his trembling hand pushing up to wipe the flaccid tears coming out of his father's eyes, but then turning into a fist.
"I'm sorry dad... I'll try." Muttering these words, Ji Hoon turns his steps away, not daring to look back at his father, shattered by the cold words of his own son.
Sprinting out with heavy steps to his car, he quickly turns on the engine, his eyes darker than ever and heavy breaths emitting from his nostrils.
Soon reaching his own place, he halts, aggressively pushing the door of the car with a loud thump. Anger still boiling inside him, he tries to control himself as he makes his way to his very own room, locking it from inside and picking a chilled bottle of beer from the small freezer.
"Fuck it!" Punching on the cement wall with full force, he curses again and again.
"Dad is not wrong.. I completely agree...but now it's too late to make a change." He hisses, the sweat dropping off his forehead falling on the glimmering white tiles like tiny raindrops.
"Can I change myself?" He leans against the wall, gulping down the bottle of alcohol in his hand.
"Can I change?" He mutters, his breathing becoming heavier by each sip that he takes.
"For myself?" He pauses, blinking while staring at himself in the large mirror.
"For my dad?"
"For....... Eunhi?"
-----------
"Jimin, where are we going?"
"Just wait, you'll know." Humming to himself, Jimin turns his head to Eunhi who was curiously staring back at him.
"Just stop here." Jimin orders the driver, the cab stopping in it's way with a jerk. Eunhi watches Jimin, open-mouthed as he pushes the door open, getting off the car.
After paying, he looks at Eunhi, innocently staring at him with puppy eyes.
"This place is so-"
"Scary? I know. Come with me." Jimin smiles softly as he offers his hand to Eunhi, and Eunhi gulps before holding his hand, looking around the old buildings and silence surrounding the whole area.
"Why are we here?" She mutters, her voice sounding worried.
Walking a few blocks with only the sound of their footsteps echoing on the concrete footpath, Eunhi gasps when Jimin takes a turn and suddenly stops, making her bump into his back.
"Ouch... s-sorry.." she mutters, rubbing her head. But Jimin doesn't speak.
Eunhi peeks from his shoulder, "Jimin?"
"We're here."
Looking at the front, Eunhi's jaw drops when she sees where they are standing.
In front of a cemetery.
"T-this.." she stutters, and Jimin takes a breathy sigh before turning his head towards Eunhi.
"We're here to meet Soojung."
Her breath hitches in her throat on hearing the words.
"O-oh.. I'm sorry." She backs away.
"Let's go inside." Jimin says as he steps forward, pushing the rusty metal door, creaking open with a slow and dangerous sound.
Following silently behind Jimin with her heart aching, she pauses when Jimin stops, staring at a stone tomb as he takes off his mask.
"Hey, Soojung. Look, I'm here."
His firm raspy voice echoes in the whole place, as he steps forward and bends down on both his knees, taking out a rose from his jacket's pocket and softly placing it on the surface of the tomb, filled with dust and dry leaves.
Gathering all her courage, Eunhi slowly steps forward, the sound of dry leaves crunching below her steps reverberating as she leans beside Jimin, both of them staring at the ground.
"U-uh, hey Soojung.. I'm Eunhi. Glad to meet you." She speaks and hesitantly looks at Jimin, making sure if she did anything wrong.
Jimin smiles as he nods, looking at the ground again.
"It's been seven years today, since you left me and became a star." He starts, "But I'm becoming stronger. Just like you said, I didn't gave up. Your absence still makes my life sorrowful. But, I'm trying."
A tear escapes his eye as he sniffles back, gulping down the saliva stuck in his throat. "Don't worry, I'm alright. Just came with my friend to meet you."
Eunhi's lips turn into a frown as she feels a weight in her heart, exhaling deeply as she turns to the tomb again.
"Yeah, I'm here to meet you too, and it's really heartbreaking for me... I...I can't-"
Just sputtering these words, Eunhi breaks down as tears start flowing from both her eyes as she leans forward, trying to hold back her tears but being unable to do so.
"Hush..." Jimin rubs her back as she turns back to Jimin, throwing her arms around his neck as she falls on his chest, weeping in his embrace.
"So sorry... I-I have a weak heart and I can't..." She sobs as Jimin rubs her back, allowing her to soak his denim jacket.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought you here." He sighs as he wipes off her tears, without noticing his own tears staining on his cheeks.
"N-no need to say that... I just... don't know how to react...this breaks my heart." She wipes Jimin's tears from his puffy cheeks, as Jimin stands up to his feet, pulling Eunhi slowly and patting her shoulder.
"It's okay, you can go and wait outside. I'll just have a small talk with Soojung and I'll come back in a minute." He smiles while wiping his snot with his handkerchief.
"U-uh okay.." hesitantly nodding and turning away, Eunhi makes her way out of the cemetery, holding back her salty tears.
But being unable to stop, the moment she steps out of the cemetery, she breaks down again, leaning against the wall while covering her mouth and crying her heart out.
On the other hand, Jimin turns back to the grave, bending down on his knees as he chuckles.
"You see her? She's so pure. Just like you." He points outside and smiles.
"She's really caring and since she came in my life... I smile more than usual and cry a little less, because she's there to make me laugh no matter what..."
Sighing and closing his eyes, Jimin whispers to himself, "I don't know why... but she really reminds me of you."
Finding no words to say, he slowly gets up again, standing to his feet. "I should go now. Eunhi is waiting. I'll visit you soon. Till then, goodbye."
Stepping on the crunchy leaves, Jimin turns around, now finally giving a last glance to the grave.
"She reminds me of you, but she also fills the hollow space in my heart that you left."
Confused between his own feelings, Jimin couldn't decipher what's happening with him.
Is he falling in love again?
A/N
Okay, this was sad.
Poor Ji Hoon...
Will he change himself? But what if it's too late? Will Jimin be able to believe in his feelings?
Or....
What if Ji Hoon's and Jimin's paths collide?
Stay tuned!
