Chapter 23: New Style

Kyungmi was in her room. After her breakdown, she tried to process both the information she was told and the one she had read.

She had also tried calming herself down, but it seemed hard so she took a bath and made herself a tea after. She didn't want Jungkook to see her in such a state when he came home.

It helped, but not as much as she wanted it to. She still felt very anxious, tense, and confused.

She still couldn't believe that Jungkook was one of her children. It felt surreal, but it also felt very relieving and comforting.

She had been looking for them for so long and to know she found them made her heart content and happy. However the guilt was heavier in her than ever before.

After going back and remembering Jungkook's background she started to hate herself even more.

Her boy had gone through so much in his life and she felt that most of it was her fault.

She felt it was her fault that Junwoo acted unfairly with Jungkook. She felt it was her fault for all the sadness and hurt he has experienced. She felt that if she never left—if she never allowed people to get into her head then all of their lives would have turned differently.

Junwoo was right, she became a bad mother by leaving. She would have continued to be a good mother if she would have stayed. She wished she could turn back time and never leave but sadly she knew that wasn't possible.

She had to live with the guilt and regret forever, wishing that she had been stronger.

But, she was determined to change the present and future. She was determined to make Jungkook's life better and protect him more than ever before.

She couldn't be the mom they needed back then, but she knew that she could be the mom they need right now and in the future.

She only hoped that both would allow her to be what they need in that said future.

It scared her that they may not.

She felt scared of losing it all when she told Jungkook the truth and when she showed up to Eunjae after so long.

She was afraid, but she knew she deserved any hatred or bitterness that any of the two felt.

She only hoped that at some point they would let her in and if not, she promised herself to at least watch them from afar.

She didn't want to tell anybody yet.

She didn't feel ready, but she knew she would have to tell her sister at least. She just needed a few more hours or days to herself to feel like she could tell her. There was still so much to process.

"Professor, I am home!!" She hears Jungkook yell and her body stiffens. Hearing his voice now that she knew who he was made her feel like everything was a dream.

Once more she couldn't believe it and felt tears pricking at her eyes, but she knew she needed to keep it together. Jungkook could not suspect that anything was wrong.

"I'm coming!" She yelled back and took a deep breath before going out and facing Jungkook. No longer would she now see him as what she hoped to be her son because he was her actual son.

She shakingly opens the door and heads to the living room where she sees the boy putting some bags. She tries her best to not break down there and then.

She stared at him. This was her son, this was one of her children.

"You grew up so well," she says in her head trying to take some silent breaths to calm herself down and not cry.

"I got you some food if that's okay? I took the hyungs out to eat after our practice and I decided to compensate you for everything!" The boy turned around to talk to her after noticing her presence in the room.

"I know it's nothing compared to what you are doing for me and have done but still I wanted to show some appreciation!" He smiles and she smiles back at him.

"Thank you Jungkookie. You didn't need to but thank you really. Uhm, can I... can I give you a hug if that's okay?" She asks and he nods.

She knew that asking for a hug randomly was questionable and out of the blue, but she needed it very badly. She needed to be sure it wasn't a dream and that her son was truly Jungkook. She needed to feel that pull that she felt from the moment she saw him.

"You can, I don't mind it." He smiles and walks to her direction, she sighs in relief and hugs him the moment he gets near.

Jungkook hugs her back with a smile, feeling the comfort he always feels when he's in her arms.

This one though, felt more motherly than any of the other hugs they've had.

Kyungmi was soaking it all in. She had tears in her eyes and was trying her best to fight them off. She then closed her eyes and let herself feel how real everything was.

She wanted to keep him in her arms for as long as possible but she knew they couldn't do that. It felt good to hug her boy knowing who he truly was now. She sniffles a little and Jungkook hears.

"Are you okay? You aren't crying are you? Did something happen?" Jungkook asks worriedly. The older woman shakes her head.

"It's okay, I'm just a little emotional. I learned some pretty big news today and so I'm in my feels. I'm sorry for worrying you." She pulls out a little, wiping the tears from her eyes away. Jungkook frowns seeing her tears. She's never once has seen her cry and it hurt his heart to see it.

"It's okay! It's just I've never seen you this way so I am a little surprised. Are you sure you are okay? It's truly nothing bad?" He asks again and she nods with a smile.

Here she was worrying him. Something she didn't want to do at all.

"I'm good, my child. They are just happy tears and I really just needed a hug. I promise nothing is wrong with me."

"Well as long as they are happy tears! But what happened? If you don't mind me asking?" He asks and she keeps the smile while also finding how to conceal the truth.

"It's just that, they think they finally have a clue on my children, I ended up getting some information on my daughter." She replies, exposing only the partial truth.

"What? Really? That's great news! Did they tell you more?" He asks more and she smiles at how happy he is for her.

"They told me where she graduated from and her career now. She's in business and she graduated not so long ago or so I was told. I was told more but they are currently hoping to get some pictures of her, to confirm if that's her," she feels the tears slide down her cheek and brushes them off.

"Wow, that's really good to hear professor! You are finally finding your family! I know how much you have suffered and searched for them so it makes me happy that you have some real evidence." He changed his regular smile to his bunny one and she laughed.

"Yes, I finally do. All of these emotions have me like this. I never thought—" she stops and takes a deep breath.

"It's okay, take your time," Jungkook puts one of his hands on her shoulder and then back down.

"I never thought I would finally be close to finding them. It's just so unreal but it's also very scary. I'm scared but I'll be fine. I'm sorry, I'm still very all over the place," she wipes her tears again but they can't seem to stop.

"It's okay, you have every right to feel what you feel. It's very valid professor. You don't know how they will react once you find them and face them, however I hope that even if it's hard at the start, they listen to you and take their time to hear you and decide to want to have you in their life," he speaks, not knowing it's him who's he addressing.

"I hope, but if not it's okay. It will be hard but I'll watch and support from afar, so yeah that's why I'm like this. I had some tea but it didn't seem to help. I'll be fine soon!" She says again. He nods.

"Would you like another hug and then go eat? I'm sure food will do you good!" He asks, hoping one more bug would make her feel better.

She looks at him again in endearment and nods.

"If you don't mind..." she replies as Jungkook shakes his head and hugs her.

She once again, embraces him and holds him very tight. She caresses the back of his head.

After hugging for a long while they separate.

"Anyways, as much as I love our hugs, I can't have us just standing," she says once she feels that it's been way too much.

" You brought some food so let me go eat!" She walks to the table to open up the food.

"I'll join you," Jungkook follows and takes a seat on the other side of the table.

"So tell me kookie, can I call you kookie? I know it's slipped a couple of times but I never asked," she asks as she puts some food on her plate.

"Of course! I don't mind it. For some reason, I like pet names or like nicknames? My grandma always called me sweet nicknames and they always brought so much warmth so I don't mind," he smiles and gets hit with nostalgia as he brings his grandma up.

"You were very very close to her huh? I know you've mentioned it before, but you've never shared more than what I've been told, which is okay!" She speaks, hoping to get some sense in just how much her mother in law did for her son.

"Yeah. She ended up being like my mom honestly. She took care of me like I was another child of hers. I remember that I would spend my summers in Busan with her and my grandpa! My grandpa also loved me so much and I love him, but he would work so I saw him during weekends or at dinner time, while with my grandma I was there the full day," he smiles remembering and she smiles back but still feeling pretty upset.

"We would always do fun things together and she would just give me the love that my dad barely did and that my mom wasn't able to keep giving to me. She always knew how to brighten my day and give me the best advice just like you!" He points out and she eats in silence.

"She was there when no one was. So, when she passed away it affected me very badly. It hurt a lot. It hurt everyone including my dad and it just sucked for me. I'd still go over to their house in summer and stay with grandpa because I was a little older to stay alone, but it hurt my grandpa so much to keep living in the same place where they shared so many memories. We tried to have him come live with us or get a house in Busan, but my uncle gave him a better offer and so he's right now taking care of my uncle and cousins who are younger than me," he continues to speak and he nods.

"I don't know if you know, but my father actually was a young parent. He had my sister when he was 18 or 19 I think? Then had me when he was 22 or 23 years old so he beat his older brothers at it," he spoke and she nodded.

The information he was given was all adding up to her own timeline. The clues were there from the start.

"Really? Being young parents is rough. I was one too and I don't regret it but I wish I would have acted differently, but you can't change things. However, I'm glad that your grandma was able to give you the comfort you needed. what about from your mom side? Surely you saw your grandparents no?" She asks, she then remembers how for a while her parents hadn't wanted her to know anything on Jungkook, Eunjae, or Junwoo.

"I did see them and I got along but the memories were hazy. My dad really tried I guess to not have any way of contact with our mom side. We didn't see them and haven't seen them since because of my dad. We always wondered what happened and if they had abandoned us as well but it wasn't the case. It was later that I overheard my dad how he didn't want us to have anything from our mom because it would be hurtful and give us hope that we didn't need," he mentioned and Kyungmi frowns. Of course, Junwoo had to be resentful.

"Especially with me more than my sister. I don't know why. However, I would like to see them again if I could but I have no way in how now. Just because my mom left doesn't mean they need to take the blame for their daughter, but then again I also haven't had the time," he frowns.

He truly had wanted to always get closer to his mothers side of the family but as he said, his dad had always made it very impossible and whenever they asked as kids where grandpa and grandma was, he would always be very short and cold with it.

Telling them that it wasn't important and that they had left with their mom, but Jungkook never believed it until that day he overheard his father talking on the phone with his uncle.

It was something that annoyed and angered Jungkook. It had gone as far as to confuse him but he never knew how or where to find him. Plus, he was scared how his dad would react if he did.

"Well, I hope you find them soon and something tells me they didn't abandon you either, maybe getting in touch with your moms side makes you feel better," she says with hope.

"I hope too, but it also scares me," he looks down and she stops eating for a bit and continues before asking a question.

"Why? Why are you scared?"

"I am scared that they will tell me the true reason my mom left. I'm scared of them telling me or letting me know that my mom truly didn't care for us. If not that, I'm scared that they will accidentally say that she has another family and forgot us. I just don't have the courage to know if she has," he explains and she frowns fully pausing on eating.

She so badly wanted to tell him that she didn't move on, that his mom was right in front of him and that she never thought on having another family. That they were always in her mind.

"I still have some hope that I don't know if it's useless for me to have but I have hope that she didn't start a anew family and if she did that she thinks about us, however I know not to get my hopes up high."

"Well, i can tell you that something tells me that she hasn't forgotten about you guys ever. Something tells me that just like me, she's regretting what she did and doesn't know how to approach you guys anymore after so long. It's not always bad to have some hope," she speaks. Saying what she truly meant and has felt all this time.

"Guess we won't know if your feeling is true. It's okay, for now I'll focus on my studies and focus on making myself better and loving myself more, I'll focus on the rest after I've done so. Or until there's been progress," he nods and looks at her.

"That's totally fine. You focus on yourself right now and get better! Which have you felt good these days kook? How was the outing with the boys?" She asks, letting her mother instincts take in and know about his day. Also trying to put aside the talk about herself.

"Well, I don't know how to explain it. I'm feeling better, staying here and having an adult has really helped so thank you," he says to her before continuing.

"Some days I still feel vulnerable, more like I always do and I still feel scared and whatnot but I know I have to be strong and face it. I guess you could say I am better and trying to make sense of the change and the outcome I want. It also feels weird too, having my mask fully come off in front of the others and possibly for the other people too. I can't help but feel exposed sometimes and weak. However, I can't deny that today and yesterday I've seen how it feels relieving too. I'm very complicated as you can tell," he says shaking his head and she chuckles.

"Well like I said, it's normal for you to feel all I've there place still. I promise you that time will allow you to take everything in," she smiles and continues to eat.

"The real test will be for when I come back to campus next week," he blurts and forgets that the older woman didn't know. She stands there looking at him as if she heard right.

"Wait a minute, did I hear this right? Are you really coming back to campus this coming week? Have you decided on it? I know you mentioned it yesterday but I didn't think you were firm on it since you seemed doubtful. Really? She asks shrouded and he nods.

"Yes, I need to go back and face everything. I'm terribly scared, mortified, and so much more but I don't want to keep hiding or keep being a coward. I don't know how it will go but I want to continue. Online classes are good but physical classes are always better too," he replies and she smiles widely at him. It makes her happy to know that he is willing to go back and be strong.

"However it's not fully. Like I had told you, I don't feel ready to be on campus all the time so I'm staying here for a bit if you are still fine with it," he checks up to see if the choice was still available.

"Of course you can stay here Jungkook. I already told you that you need to stay as long as you need. I love having company and your company is a good one, trust me! It actually sometimes gets lonely having to stay by myself," she admits, feeling happy to have her son be with her for as long as he wants.

"Thanks. As to how today went, it went well! We got very much ahead for our presentation. I really hope you like it. We've been working very hard! Also, I have a surprise for you this weekend! Well mainly for everybody, I guess?" He states, with a smile.

The woman tilts her head to the side confused by what he meant. "What do you mean surprise?" She asks.

"You will see this weekend. I won't say anything until then but it's good! Or so I hope it is," he makes a thinking face.

"Okay, well I'm excited to see the presentation and see what surprise you have up your sleeve," She smiles as she finishes the last bite of the food. She wiped her mouth and gets up to put the dish in the sink and start washing it quickly.

"Did you enjoy the food?" He asks.

"I did. Thank you very much kookie. I also feel a bit better after everything that I was dropped on today. I mean I still feel very all over the place but talking and the hug have helped," she thanks him and wishes to just have him under her wing the whole time.

"I'm glad, you always listen to me but know that I will always listen to you as well," he gets up.

"By the way, have you been well after the dream? Or has that occupied your mind a little?" She finishes washing her dish and dried her hand.

"It's been in the back of my mind I won't lie. Mainly what's been in mind is just why I dreamt it. It feels so realistic honestly but I know that's not the case because thinking back, I remember just her putting me to sleep and then having my dad tell me at a hospital that she went on a trip and then later on revealed she wouldn't be back," he explains.

"Hospital?" She asks.

"Yeah, when I was little I fell when running and hit my head pretty hard and ended up unconscious. My dad says that's what happened but I somewhat don't remember that happening. My dad told me I woke up two days later. Nothing bad happened but I did get tests done. It was one of the few times I remember my dad being worried and being by my side," he explains and she frowns.

She remembers Jungkook explaining how in the dream he ran and fell when he hit his head somewhere and then everything going dark. She thinks about what he said just now and puts the pieces together.

It was starting to be very evident that he watched her left and that added back the need to cry.

Even more guilt has been added. More hate to herself too. "I've truly been the worst mom," she says in her head but tries to pretend like she's okay.

"However, I tried not to think much afterwards. What's the point? Who knows when I'll learn the truth. Anyways, I'm going to go get into bed. It's been a long day and I'm feeling tired," he says.

Kyungmi forces back the smile on her face and nods. "Go ahead and rest! Sleep well and let's hope you have a good full rest for the night!" She goes and ruffles his head.

"Will do! Goodnight to you too professor," he smiles and bows a little before heading to the room he's been staying in.

Once the coast is clear Kyungmi sits on the couch and dials someone.

"Iseul? I really need to talk to you."

_______________

Two boys were walking alongside each other as they chatted. "How much longer Jimin hyung? Maybe we should have parked closer," Jungkook complains as they look for the hair salon where Jimin was taking to have his and Jungkook's hair done.

The boys had been shopping at the mall for the whole day. Both Jimin and Jungkook were buying different clothes and trying different styles for each other but mainly for Jungkook.

Taehyung was supposed to accompany them but the other one opted out after deciding he would do it for the end of year instead. He also had an emergency to attend to from his family. This has left only Jungkook and Jimin to fend for themselves.

"We are here!" Jimin says happily and Jungkook only walks alongside him. The other had never changed his hair color or style. Well, he did. He had cut it shorter after the accident in high school and kept it that way for a while until he decided to grow it a little more.

So he's had hair cuts but he hasn't ever dyed his hair. He was hesitant when Jimin and the other hyungs brought up the idea, but soon enough he felt like he needed it. Plus, he wouldn't have his hair dyed forever.

"Hello, we have an appointment for Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook," Jimin says after walking in and checking in with the receptionist.

"Okay, please have a seat, we will be with you shortly," the woman smiled and they nodded.

"What color should I do? My hair is already blonde but I want to add some color to it," Jimin asks Jungkook as he touches his hair.

"Any color looks good on you I'm sure as to me, I have no idea what I want to do," he pouts and Jimin chuckles finding the younger cute.

"Hmm I have some idea but you have to let me know how you feel about it and how much you are willing to change your hair," the older one speaks looking at Jungkooks hair.

"What's your idea?"

"I was thinking we can do strawberry blonde on you! Not fully blonde so that you don't go fully platinum or something or you could do purple!" Jimin says excitedly and Jungkook tilts his head.

"With purple it fades into a golden brown, and then for the showcase you can change it up a bit too. We could also do just a brown tint if you don't feel like hitting the bleach," Jimin keeps suggesting and Jungkook frowns not knowing what to do.

"Why don't you choose for me?" Jungkook asks Jimin. Jungkook honestly didn't know what to choose nor did he know what would look good him. However, he knew that Jimin knew well about colors and style seeing how he often dyed his hair along with the others and knew how to dress up.

"Are you sure? What if you don't like what style I choose for you?" Jimin asks.

"It's okay, I'm sure I will and if I do I can always come dye my hair back to black," he shrugs.

"Okay then! I think I know what will fit you. In that case, you also have to choose my hair color," Jimin smirks.

"Why? I wanted you to choose mine because I didn't know what to do with mine. How can I possibly say what to do for yours?" He asked innocently.

"Well for starters it's my hair and not yours. Come on, it's okay, what color do you think will fit me right now? I've done let's see I've mainly done blonde, platinum blonde, pink. I do plan to go dark later in the year to give my head a rest," he says. His hair wasn't very damaged since he knew how to take care of it well after and his dye jobs were done fine apart, but still it wasn't the strong hair it used to be.

"What about silver? I think silver would look good in you if I'm honest. Like a silver blue?" Jungkook suggests and Jimin looks at his hair through his phone camera and nods.

"I like it! Let's do it then!" Jimin agrees and soon enough both their names gets called up. Jungkook took a deep breath and walked to sit on the chair after greeting his stylist.

"So what will we do for you today young man?" The older woman who seemed to be around Professors Jangs age asked.

"My friend actually has it planned," he says pointing to Jimin who sits on the next chair.

"Yes, why don't I tell it to you in secret so that we surprise him?" Jimin asks the lady who nods and Jungkook only looks at Jimin weary but deciding to trust him. He knew after all right?

After four hours of working on Jungkook hair, it was finally done and Jimin couldn't help but smile at the change.

He had his hair done earlier than Jungkooks because it was already blonde and didn't need to go through all the processes that Jungkook did. When he looked to see his silver hair Jimin liked it a lot. It was a new color and look. He usually did something light but the darkness the silver created was different and fresh.

Jungkook had complimented the older boy after he was done. He wasn't so surprised by how well it looked on Jimin because the boy already looked amazing with any color however Jungkook had to give his self a pat in the back because the silver made Jimin look more cool.

"You ready to see yourself in the mirror Jungkook? I think you will like it, or so I hope!" Jimin asks and Jungkook takes a deep breath and nods. Now, it was his turn to see just how different he would look and just how they styled his hair.

"I think I am.." he replies.

"Okay well in three, two, one..." the stylist says and slowly turns him around. Jungkook gapes the moment he sees himself in the mirror. His hair was shorter almost like an undercut. His black hair was now dark blonde with some light blonde pieces in a few areas to create a small highlight look.

The hair color made his skin color look a bit more lighter but made him look also a little mature but also still very young. He would be lying if he said he didn't like the style. He smiled as he kept looking at himself and both the stylist and Jimin look at each other with a satisfied smile.

"What do you think kook? Turned out very cool huh?" Jimin looks at him through the mirror. Jungkook nods.

"Yes, I never thought a color like this would fit me so well. I think I look good?" He asks at the end. He wasn't the typical one to compliment himself or think he was handsome. So saying it right now feel weird and awkward.

"You look very good. Your friend chose an amazing color, anyways let's go pay and I'll give you some shampoos to use for this hair color too and so that your hair doesn't take a big hit," she pats his shoulders and he nods heading to pay and be told how to take care of his hair with Jimin.

"Thank you!" They both said at the end after paying and having Jungkook be told how it maintain his hair healthy.

"Okay Jungkookie! We got you some new clothes and your hair done! You really looks so handsome. Even more handsome than before but still very cute!" Jimin compliments him as they walk in the mall.

"Thanks? Though I'm really not that handsome, I think you and the other definitely beat me in that game," Jungkook shyly replies and Jimin sighs and frowns.

"What did we talk about Jungkook? We have told you to stop underestimating yourself or how you look. You are handsome just as the others and I think even more than me. Compliment yourself or accept compliments here and then. Why do you think there were also rumors about you being a fuck boy and what not?" Jimin asks and the other boy lets him answer because he wasn't so sure about the response.

"It was because despite the bad personality you put up, you are handsome and that attracts people. If you weren't handsome or if people didn't think so they would make other rumors, trust me. You look good okay?" Jimin demands him to agree at the end and Jungkook nods.

"Good! Now let's go and get something to eat, my treat!" Jimin says and Jungkook follows him. It was a short walk for in less than 3 minutes they were in front of a pizza store.

"Oh, pizza!" Jungkook says a little to happily that makes Jimin giggle.

"Haven't had pizza in a while I guess?"

"Ah yes, it's been a while since I had some pizza and I was actually craving some for a while now but with everything I just never went to a place," Jungkook responds walking in with Jimin to the place and going to sit down at a booth.

"Well I am glad to have chosen this right. I'm doing well in choosing things for you today huh?" Jimin smiles as they look at the menu.

They chat over the menu for a while and order some drinks. After deciding what they want they begin to talk. They were both about to start when two girls come up to them out of the blue.

They look at them.

"Hi! Sorry to bother you both but we couldn't help but wonder and ask if you guys were actors or idols or just anyone famous? It's just that you both are very attractive," the girl with short brown hair asks them both.

Jimin and Jungkook look at each other taken back.

"Uhm I hate to ruin your hopes but we aren't we are just some regular college students eating pizza," Jimin responds.

They were expecting for the two girls to be disappointed but they didn't mind.

"Oh well, that's okay. We wanted to say that you both are just incredibly good looking pair of friends that was all, we will let you guys eat well," the other friend says.

"No worries, thank you! You guys seem like some very pretty girls too!" Jungkook smiles at them and the girls swoon over it. Jimin smirks seeing the scenery.

"Oh thank you! Anyways have a good lunch!" They bow and the two boys bow their heads back and watch them off blushing.

"You see what I mean? You are very good looking kook! Hope that if you didn't believe me that you at least believed those two girls. It doesn't hurt to compliment yourself kook. Trust me. I know it's hard but it does good in the end. I learned it the hard way," Jimin looks at him and puts his hands in the table.

"It is hard. I just. I've had people always say I'm ugly or nerd looking or not pleasing to see along with many other things that at some point you end up just believing those things and picking apart your own self," he frowns remembering all those comments made towards him in his estoy school years.

"I get you honestly. I wasn't very badly bullied the way you were but I did get some pretty hurtful commentary when I was in middle school and my first years of high school. All of them were mainly all about my weight and it was hard. It took me a while to get to where I am now," Jimin explains his story as Jungkook listens tentatively.

He couldn't see why such comments would be made towards the oldest when he was the epitome of being both pretty and handsome.

"Really? What did you do to stop feeling that way?" The younger asks as he plays with straw.

"You don't stop feeling that forever. There will always be some things that one will criticize about oneself. It's just hard to not think or do so. However, I was able to get better by attending therapy and by Taehyung too. It was high school when I met Taehyung and that's when he too taught me slowly to appreciate myself and how I am. It was hard but now I do. I have some hard days but I haven't relapsed the way I did back then," he nods.

"Oh, therapy?" Jungkook asks. It was a topic that had actually been hanging over Jungkooks head for a while. However, he wasn't sure how to feel about it. Sometimes he felt he needed the help but at the same time he wanted to first try on his own and if it didn't work he would go.

"Yeah, it got kind of bad so I was put in therapy. It helped a lot," he smiles.

"I've thought about therapy for myself and I probably do need it. However, I don't know why but I kind of want to try getting better myself on my own with no professional guidance and if I don't see progress I then will go. But I don't know. There's also the money. My dad didn't completely cut off my allowance, surprisingly. But he did cut some off it," he expressed to see what Jimins opinion was.

"Well, there's nothing wrong with trying to help your own self first. However, it doesn't hurt to go to one either. You can be able to do it yourself. Whatever you feel good with jungkookie. If you feel like going then go, if you feel you don't need it then wait and see. Not everyone needs therapy every time, trust me." He smiles and Jungkook nods.

"I'll think in it."

"Anyways, compliment yourself more! I'll be your reminded along with Tae! It's too bad he couldn't come with us in the end but I am glad to be spending some time alone. Finally in a way that doesn't involve you being hurt or with us being mad. Though I never was mad at you," Jimin shrugs and Jungkook looks up.

"You weren't? You at least hated me though no?"

"Nope. Did I like your attitude and your ways of doing things? No. But I never hated or was mad at you the way hyungs were. I always just thought that you were going through something or felt lonely. Not to mention that you really weren't a true bad boy, no offense," Jimin chuckles.

"Even so, people hate bad boys no matter how 'bad' they are. To think, why is it that you saved me that day after being beaten up? You took care of me and dressed my wounds. You also were the one to be with me when we started the project. What is it that you saw in me that despite not liking me that made you help me and approach me? Usually people go away," Jungkook asks.

To think about it, Jimin had always been the one to act more "kind" or civil to Jungkook before the project began and before the others became friends with him. It was rare whenever Jimin got into the arguments that Jungkook has had in the past with the other hyungs.

Jin would also stay quiet but he had shown less civil actions than Jimin. It just made him wonder why. When one group doesn't like someone usually they all end up being the same, is what he thought.

"Well I don't know. I've never liked conflict unless it's truly needed nor have I liked being mad or hate people unless they've hurt the ones I loved or have hurt me, or only when they've done something unfair and to think about it, you never truly did hurt us. We mainly hurt you..." Jimin began to explain and Jungkook nods not saying a word to have the other continue.

"I mean yes, you've said hurtful things but we were the ones to start it and I just never had a reason to hate you. Only dislike you because you were an ass, again no offense," Jimin stops to take a sip of his drink.

"I just decided I wouldn't get involved and watched and only defend when something is wrong. Decided to not approach you and just keep my own distant that was until that one night you were beaten up," He says and Jungkook stays still wondering if the other man saw and heard everything.

"I was walking by when I saw someone beaten up and I got closer to try and help. However, I was late and that person had already been left beaten so I went to go approach. Don't know how surprise I was to see it was you. You were so hurt and you were saying how you were a fucked up and all those things. I don't know why, but it broke my heart seeing you that way," he frowns remembering Jungkooks words.

Jungkook looks down clearly remembering that night.

"It was then I could tell that you were actually someone putting a front. No one who's actually bad or cruel would say such words of themselves. You looked broken and I had to take care of you and help you even if we weren't friends or in the best terms," he speaks.

"I couldn't leave you lying there and you always seemed lonely too so I took you to your form and healed you because I figured no one else would and someone needs to be felt taken care of at some point," Jimin states and Jungkook looks down feeling cared for.

"So ever since then I would sneakily check up on you and volunteered to speak with you when we got all partnered up. I realized I was Edith about you and just waited until you showed your true colors and you did. You ended up proving us wrong and showing us, more so me, that all that hard and cold exterior was a mask of the interior you have."

"So basically you saw right through me?"

Jimin nods.

"Thank you," Jungkook says looking up at Jimin who tilts his head confused as to why Jungkook was thanking him.

"Thank you for taking care of me that day. I didn't admit it to you then but it felt nice to have someone help me out. Thank you for everything else too and I am sorry for anything hurtful I've said to you guys in the past. I had my hand of saying some mean things too," he apologized and Jimin shakes his head.

The younger didn't need to thank him for anything. He just wanted to help the other because it's what his heart told him to do.

"I don't still see yet how you guys can like a person like me but thank you for doing so. I promise to repay you and them some day," he smiles Liz

"Jungkookie, you don't need to repay us anything. We do this not because we expect something back. We do this because we care for you and like who you are. We just want to help. Let's just leave the past in the past hmm?"

"Okay," Jungkook smiles and see their pizza come in. Jungkook looks at it happily and it makes Jimin keep his smile.

"You really love food huh? Every time you have food your eyes get so wide," Jimin says grabbing a slice of pizza.

"I can't help it hyung!" Jungkook chuckles and takes a bite of the pizza. He groans at how good it tasted.

"You know, it's cool to have someone younger than us to take care of? Noted you are knit a year younger than TaeTae and I but still. Also feels so nice to have someone that from Busan in the group too. I can release my accent here and then and have someone else tease the hyungs with me."

"Got your back!" Jungkook says in a Busan accent and Jimin laughs.

"Thank you!" Jimin responds back in the same accent as they laugh. They did their best to enjoy the company of each other.

Okay, we hear Jungkookie," Jimin arrives at Professor Jangs apartment building. After eating and walking the mall for a while the two boys had sent pictures in their GC of their hairs and got complimented by Tae and the hyungs.

They then decided to have some dessert and drove back to Jungkooks temporary place.

"Thanks hyung for driving me and all this," Jungkook thanked after seeing the building.

"Kook, you don't have to thank me for everything all the time I promise you! Everyone at the campus will be shocked to see the new look of Jeon Jungkook," Jimin scolds and then talks about the upcoming Monday.

"Ah yeah," Jungkook replies with a frown. It had been Saturday and he was coming back to school on Monday. It scared me shitless still and still wondered if it was the right idea.

But he had to do this. He wanted to prove to himself that he could face people and not run away. What he didn't like was the attention he knew he was going to get for many days that day.

"Hey, don't be scared. We will be right there with you!" Jimin smiles and caresses Jungkooks back hair. It was starting to be noticeable to Jungkook how touchy the others were. Some more than others.

Always caressing and hugging each other. He didn't mind it though, he secretly liked the touch. He guesses it's because he's touch starved.

However, he won't admit it to anyone yet.

"Okay. Anyways have a good night and see you Monday Jiminie hyung!" Jungkook greets reaching for the back to take some of the bags of clothes they bought.

"See you Monday Jungkookie and don't forget we are all meeting in the parking lot to head in with you okay? We mean it when we said you don't be doing this alone!" Jimin makes him remembers.

"I'll meet you guys there. Thanks!" He says and Jimin nods. Jungkook opens the door and gets out the car. He waved goodbye to Jimin and walks in the apartment building.

As he took the elevator he couldn't help but feel scared and also excited as to what Professor Jang's reaction would be to his style. He hoped the woman would like it.

He didn't know when or how but slowly the older woman's opinion became very important to him and a priority. He just wanted her to be proud of him and let him know when he was messing up.

He knew that he didn't have to take such importance but he really voiding help it. He guessed it's because of how caring the woman has been to him and how much of a motherly figure he's starting to see her as. Little did he know that all those feelings were because she was his mother and blood calls.

However, it would still be a little while until the young adult knew that. Taking a deep breath he enters the code for the apartment and comes in.

"Jungkookie my dear is that you?" He hears his professor say and Jungkook responds.

"Yes! Let me put things in my room and I'll see you," He replies.

"I'm in the studio!" She says.

Jungkook goes put his new clothes in his bed and puts them away before looking for a bucket hat to cover his hair to surprise the older omens. After finding it he pushes his hair back and puts the hat in well. He walks to the studio.

As he walks in he sees the woman on her computer watching something. Jungkook approaches her and she looks up, feeling his presence.

"Hi! How did it go?" She asks looking up at him with a big smile.

"It went well! What you doing?" He comes over a little more near but keeping the distance.

"I was just grading and giving feedback on the practice videos for the showcase. Your class is up next in showing me how things will be done! I can't wait to hear that song of yours. However, you guys will be graded physically. This is my hybrid class so they get kind of a pass and they are freshmen too," she replies, finishing the commentary on the last video.

"I'm done though. Did you eat?"

He nods. "I did. I did more than eating too. I have that surprise for you ready!" He says shyly.

"And what is that?" She asks, the smile not dropping from her face. She then sees him take a breath and remove his bucket hat to reveal his new hair. She gapes.

"Surprise! I, uh, changed my hair. What do you think?" He asks shyly, seeing the surprise expression on the woman's face.

She smiles, standing up and walking over to see him better. She ruffles his hair, inspecting the different cut and color.

"I think you look very handsome! When you said surprise I didn't think it would mean you dying your hair! Bun it looks amazing!" She says smiling at him and she looks at her after hearing the nickname bun.

"Is that a new nickname for me? Bun?" He asks sweetly.

"Ah yes. You kind of resemble a cute bunny so it just came over me. Gosh look at you! What made you want to change your hair? You looks more mature but still cute? How is that possible?" She ask amazed, putting her hands down.

"Well, since I'm starting a new way of living, the hyungs thought it would be a good idea to do a change up in my look too. I've never dyed my hair so I wanted to try it. Taehyung hyung was supposed to accompany Jimin and I but he had something come up so it was just Jimin and I!" He responds as the woman listens.

"Jimin chose the color and I chose his! We also bought some new clothes for me to wear. Nothing so new but something that's fresh while also being me."

"Oh really? Jimin chose your color? Well I have to say that that man sure knows how to give good recommendations! I bet he looks just as handsome too," she compliments back.

"He really does! Does it truly look good?"

"It looks amazing, bun! I like how it makes your eyes pop. It's wonderful, do you think you look good in it?" She crossed her arms.

"I somehow do? It feels weird to see me blonde but I like it! It won't be forever so, soon enough I'm sure I'll go back to dark but I like it for now. The hyungs liked it too and I got complimented by people outside too!" He happily says.

"You see! You are handsome. It's good to hear that you like your new look! I'm sure people on campus will be very surprised by it."

"They will. Though I have one more day before I go back. I'm scared," he sits on the piano bench.

"Everything will be okay. The important thing is to get it over with, right? I'm sure the first few days will be hard but soon it will get easier, I am sure. Don't forget—" she gets stopped by her son.

"That you are here for me. I know. I'm ready but scared. Will you drive me there?" He asks with hopeful eyes as she nods.

"I will. You got this Jungkookie. Everything will be okay! We will be here for you," she stretched out her hand. He held it, feeling comforted. He for sure hoped everything wouldn't be too bad.
