"You little!" her father yelled as he gripped her hair and forcefully yanked her back. Her eyes widened as she lost her balance and fell. He let go as she crashed into the ground.

"Get up" he ordered and she scrambled to her feet. "Be home by 2:30". She nodded and turned towards the door.

"Goodbye Father" she turned just in time to see a bottle fly out of his hand towards her. She yelped as she ducked just in time letting it shatter on the wall behind her.

She quickly ran out the door sprinting down the street until she came to the corner. Readjusting her tattered and old backpack she slowed her pace. Her and her father had moved here over the summer. It was really got outside but Cinder wore jeans and a long sleeved shirt to cover her scars. Her Brown hair was left down even though she much prefered it up she couldn't risk anyone seeing the scratches on her neck.

As she walked she felt tears well up in her eyes. No, she told herself. She kept reminding herself to be strong. She told herself she could do this. He couldn't break her so easily. She didn't notice she had made it to her school.

"Look out!" someone yelled as she turned to see a Brown blur flying at her. She ducked just in time as the object fell and harmlessly bounced off the ground. Shakily she stood up and kept walking. She heard a couple sorrys and simply nodded as she slipped up the steps into the building.

"Hi there, how can I help you?" the secretary asked with a smile.

"Umm I'm Cinder Linh and I'm new here. I guess I'm supposed to check-in here or something?" she asked while the lady nodded.

"Yep! Let me pull your file and then you'll meet with the principle and we'll get someone to show you around."

Cinder nodded sitting in one of the disgusting looking red chairs. She waited for what felt like forever until she finally heard her name called.

"Come on in here". After talking to the principle for what felt like forever she finally called in another student.

"This here is Kaito. He's going to show you around and then take you to your class."

Cinder stood and followed the dark haired boy out of the room. Once they were out of the office he finally spoke.

"Hi! Please call me Kai, I'm president of our school activities so I am going to get to show you around. Trust me you will know where everything is and feel like you've been here your whole life by the time I'm done. What is your name?"

"Cinder."

"Nice to meet you Cinder, I'm Kai."

"You already told me that." she pointed out as he blushed a bright red.

"Oh sorry, it's not exactly easy greeting the new people."

"Its not exactly easy being new either" she smiled at him as he rubbed his back in embarraament.

"Well lets keep moving." he said taking the lead.
