Louis gets ready to leave within fifteen minutes and he had done his morning routine very hurriedly to achieve that. He's at the door, putting his shoes on when the door swings open. He looks up to see a sweating Harry entering the flat, his hair tied up in a bun and held back by a head band.
"Harry!" Louis jumps to his feet and hugs the boy close. "Holy shit! Thank god you're okay."
"Ew, Louis I'm all sweaty, get away." Harry lightly pushes him away. "Where are you going?" He asks, bending down to take his shoes off.
"Work. I'll see you later." He pecks Harry's lips and gets out of the door before the taller boy could comment.
"Take care, Loueh!" Is only what Harry yells at him and Louis smiles before turning around to give his boyfriend a grin with his thumbs up.
"Will do!" The shorter one yells before running off.
__________
Louis wasn't expecting this. He wasn't expecting for a fifteen years old boy to steal his dad's car to run over the woman that his dad was about to marry.
When Louis got to the crime scene, all he could see was the police team surrounding a car, making a small circle around it. Only when he got closer, he saw a young kid sitting on the ground, outside the drivers side of the car. He held a piece of glass in his hands and there was blood running down his arms as the weapon was cutting through his own palms. Louis noticed the windshield of the boy's car was shattered and he probably got the piece of glass from there.
"That was his dad's girlfriend apparently and we can't really get him to talk. Plus, he's attacking anyone who tries." Paul had informed Louis who frowned.
Louis took slow steps towards the boy and didn't flinch when the boy, who looked absolutely shaken and scared, slashed his arm with the glass. When Louis didn't back off after the attack, the boy's eyes widened and he started to cry, his grey eyes wide and shiny.
"Hey, it's alright. It's okay, no one's gonna hurt you. Calm down, it's okay." He hugged the boy who cried in Louis' chest and all the police officers frown.
"The poor kid just needed a hug I guess, our threats were probably scaring him." Paul shrugged when Louis got up and pulled the boy along and walked to his car.
The boy told the police everything as Louis held him the whole time.
Apparently, his name is Aden and he lost his mother when he was eleven. His father got himself a girlfriend who kept abusing the kid and his dad, too blinded by love, didn't believe his son. So when Aden got completely sick of the woman, he stole his dad's car and followed her until he got the chance to hit her.
Louis felt bad for the boy, but he couldn't do anything seeing the boy, instead of reporting the abuse, took the matters in his own hands.
The boy turns out to be self harming, judging by the cuts on his wrist, so Louis takes him to his clinic instead of the police station. And when he saw the signs of depression and schizophrenia after a few hours of observing him, he decides to run a few tests on the boy, but being a psychologist, he can't. So he called up two psychiatrists immediately in order to get the tests done faster as the police was still waiting to talk to Aden.
It was at midnight when Louis got a call from Harry, asking where he was and if he was okay. Louis had answered him in a rush, telling him that he got called in for work and he won't be home for the night.
By morning, the psychiatrists handed Louis the reports and turns out Aden was not only diagnosed with depression and schizophrenia but also PTSD and bipolar disorder. By noon, Louis was at the station along with Aden, where he handed in the clinical reports of Aden's mental condition. Louis was right beside the boy when he was being interrogated, but Aden answered none of the questions asked apart from what he had already told, claiming he just wanted to be alone. It was in the evening that Louis left from the police station and visited a hospital to get the cut on his arm checked, which turned out to be a fast process.
Currently, it's six in the evening and he's driving back home with a bandage on his arm and a bouquet of flowers sitting on the passenger seat, along with a box of chocolates.
After another five minutes of driving, he gets to his flat. When he hears loud giggles coming from inside the apartment, he balances the bouquet and the box of chocolates in one arm as he uses the other to unlock the door. He tries his best to not make a sound as he slowly pushes the door open.
A smile immediately settles on his lips when he sees a blindfolded Harry, stumbling on his feet, trying to find the little girl that's hiding behind the couch. Harry smirks when Louis accidentally make a sound by the bouquet's wrapper and leaps towards the sounds while Leilani covers her mouth, trying her best to be silent as she laughs. Scared to be tackled, Louis screams, making Harry freeze and take his blindfold off.
"Louis?" Asks Harry, dumbfounded to see the shorter boy, especially with a bouquet and chocolates. Just then he sees Louis' arm and gasps. "What happened?!" He goes to him and takes his arm in his hands to examine it.
"Eh.. just a little cut, don't worry." He smiles at the taller boy who is still frowning at the bandage. Louis takes a seat on the couch and Leilani is fast to join her dad.
"What happened to your arm, Daddy?" She asks innocently as Harry sits on the other side of him.
"Injured at work, nothing big." He smiles at the little girl who grins back.
"A superhero injury?" She asks and Louis nods.
"A superhero injury!" He laughs, booping her nose before turning to Harry. "These are for you." He hands him the flowers, making him blush. He smiles at Harry's red cheeks and kisses them both while their daughter coos at them. "I'm really very sorry, Dimples." He whispers before kissing his nose and pulling back. "And these are for the both of you!" He cheers, shaking the chocolate box and Leilani joins in.
After a while, the three of them sit together for dinner, Leilani playing footsie with Louis, but both of them retract their legs when Harry says "Behave!", shooting them a stern look.
"Papa?" Leilani asks after a while and Harry hums in response. "Do you like going to the fairs?"
"Of course, who doesn't?" Harry says with a shrug, shoving a spoonful of mac and cheese in his mouth.
"Can we go, Daddy?" She asks Louis who nods. "Yay!" She squeals.
When they're done with the dinner, Leilani goes to bed and Harry goes to do the dishes as Louis just stands there, staring at his boyfriend.
"You know.... you still haven't said it." Louis whispers softly, taking the wet plate from Harry's hand and starting to wipe it dry.
"Huh?" Harry asks and the shorter lad sighs.
"That you won't leave." He says.
"I said I'll think about it." Harry says coldly, not glancing at Louis.
"But.. that's not even reassuring...?" He says, his voice cracking a little.
"Well your 'sorry' isn't that reassuring either now, is it?" Harry looks at him with a raised eyebrow.
"But I said I won't do it again." Louis says, looking up at Harry with wide eyes.
"I don't know, Louis. Do you think it's reassuring when we went through this same shit so many times before?" Harry retorts and Louis looks at the ground, shamefully. "Are you still gonna help me?" Harry asks, tilting his head and Louis looks up to him holding a wet plate in the blue eyed boy's direction.
Louis nods with a small smile and helps Harry with the dishes until they're done. When Harry says he's going to bed, Louis calls his name, making him halt and turn back.
"Uh.. do you.." Louis looks everywhere except Harry as he bites at his lip. "Do you.. y-you know.."
"Do I what?" Harry asks, getting impatient.
"Do you maybe want to stay here and watch a movie with me?" Louis asks and Harry smiles softly, his cheeks turning pink as he nods.
"Sure." He says and goes upstairs to get them a blanket while Louis decides on a movie.
When he gets back downstairs, Louis asks him if 'The Cakemaker' was okay and Harry just..
"Of course it's fine. You know I worked in a bakery, right?" He asks and Louis squints his eyes, trying to remember.
"Uh... When?" He asks as he puts in the movie and lies back on the couch.
"For past two years." Harry says and Louis nods, taking in the new piece of information as the curly haired boy plops in front of him and surprisingly snuggles to his chest.
They watch the film in silence with both their legs tangled and Louis' arm around Harry's waist, rubbing circles on his tummy. Halfway through the movie, Louis decides to speak.
"I love you a lot, Haz." He whispers, kissing the boy's neck.
"You know I love you too, Lou. But.. sometimes you're a bit little too much to handle." Harry yawns, holding onto Louis a bit tighter.
