Hiii! New fanfic :) 

Everything goes pretty fast in this part but the whole point of this story is everything I would've liked to go differently so there's no point in writing everything exactly the way it happens

Anyways, hope you enjoy it :)

Light took the Death Note from the floor, and read the first rule "the human whose name is written in this note shall die" the boy scoffed "this is ridiculous, but... well, i may be ridiculous as well" he said as he put it in his bag and sighed, heading home

He sat in his room and turned the TV on, in the news they were talking about some man who had kidnapped a few children and their teacher, Light frowned, why did people like that exist? He glanced at the note, he didn't believe it would do anything, but he didn't lose anything from trying, he sat on his desk and opened the Death Note, taking a pen and writing down the name of the criminal "so now I wait 40 seconds and he dies" he thought out loud, he glaced at the clock, 10 more seconds

3... 2... 1... Nothing "why did I even think-" a bunch of kids started running in the screen, out of the school "what?" He mumbled "tha-that's not..." but when they explained what happened, Light's heart stopped, the man died of a heart attack, just like it said in the Death Note, but how?

The teenager couldn't believe what had just happened, he had been thinking about that all day, until something broke him out of his thoughts, what the fuck was that? "W-what are you?" He asked, after a few seconds

"I'm a Shinigami" it said as if it was obvious "I'm Ryuk" Ryuk? What? The boy was more than confused now

"Are you going to take my soul or something like that?" He asked

"Take your soul? What? Is that the idea you humans have of us?" Ryuk asked

Light chuckled "well, I used this thing and now you're here" Light pointed out

"I am here because that Death Note belonged to me before you took it" Ryuk explained, the boy nodded, still not understanding what had happened that day but not really caring about it that much anymore considering that there was a Shinigami in his room

"Watari, this wasn't a coincidence, there's something going on" the man only known as 'L' said "there's been five deaths within the past twenty four hours" the elder man nodded understanding what the guy meant "I'm going to investigate this case, let everyone know at the meeting and I'll give them all the details"

"I know I picked up the note and all that but do you really have to follow me everywhere? It's starting to annoy me" Light complained as he walked to school, Ryuk had been following him absolutely everywhere, Light understood all the rules, but was that really necessary?

"Yes, you know the rules, Light, until you don't want to own the note or you die, in that case I'll be the one writing your name on my Death Note" Ryuk explained once again, slightly annoyed at Light's rudeness

"Ugh, fine" the boy got to his first class and looked around, there was so many people he could write in the Death Note and everyone would be better off without them, but if he did that, he would be a suspect

It was hard to concentrate with Ryuk walking around the classroom, and since no one else could see him, he couldn't say anything so when the class was over he decided to leave the school gates, one day skipping wouldn't hurt considering he was the student with the highest score in Japan

"We should leave this case to L" a man said at the meeting, a lot of police officers from around the world had gathered to discuss the 'Kira Case'

"L is not worth our time! No one has ever seen his face or knows his real name and he only picks the cases he's interested in" someone argued, L frowned, hearing and seeing everything sitting in his dark room

"L has already started investigating this case" the first man said, Watari walked in the room where everyone was

"I'm aware that most of you don't trust me, but considering the circumstances, I believe I'm the only one willing to find out who this Kira is and stop all these murders" L said, there were whispers around the room and when everyone shut up again L began to talk again "I also know that thanks to this situation the crimes have dropped significantly, but either way, this is not the way we have to deal with it, this Kira is a murderer, no matter what he thinks and he seems to see himself as some kind of god"

"If you are taking care of this whole thing why are we still here?" Someone in the back asked

L sighed "because in this particular case I'm going to need some help from the Japanese police department" everyone turned to chief Yagami and Matsuda, the two representatives of the department in that meeting "I am willing to use your help as long as you use mine" he finished "we'll be in contact soon"

Light kept writing names in the Death Note nonstop from the moment he got home from school until he went to sleep, he had everything under control... or that's what he thought

"Kira is a student" L thought out loud, Watari glanced at him

"What do you mean?" He asked, not understanding how he got to that conclusion so quickly

"The times are the key, the deaths go from 4pm to 2am everyday, that makes me think he's a student, and I'm quite sure he lives in Kanto, the deaths are mostly there"

"How do you plan on proving that, L?"

"Leave all that to me Watari, just don't forget my words" L suggested "trust me and we'll catch Kira sooner than you think"

"You know what to do, right?" Ryuk asked Light "remember, if someone touches the Death Note they'll be able to see me... and you  don't want that to happen, do you?" The teenager glared at him

"Yes, I know that Ryuk... anything else I should know?" He asked sarcastically "any secrets I need to know?"

Ryuk thought about it for a couple of seconds and then responded "nope"

"Okay, good... now if you'll excuse me, I have a job to do, my schedule is pretty tight you see? I still have to be the best at school, but I also have to clean this rotten world"

(sorry if it doesn't make sense or if it's wrong, I copied the subtitles from a couple of videos on youtube and I  had a coke and I never have a coke so it's really influential on me and im super hyped and its 2am and i am here writing Lawlight so yep)

"I am the only person who can control the entire world's police forces, Lind L. Tailor, I go by the code name 'L'..." A man on thw TV said, Light frowned, not understanding anything

"Who the hell...?" Why was this L on TV right now?

"This successive murdering of criminals, is unforgivable and must not go unpunished, I guarantee I will find the ring leader or 'Kira'" the man continued

Ryuk chuckled "he says he'll guarantee that he'll find you" but Light didn't pay attention to him, his full atteention was on the screen, who did this dude think he was?

"Fool! There's no way he can catch me" the teenager thought out loud, the key to everything was the Death Note, a simple notebook or diary to everyone, no one would ever find out the truth

"...What you're doing is evil!" Light glared at the screen, evil? He was protecting the kind people from criminals, he would become the God of the new world! Whoever disrepected him didn't deserve a chance!

He opened the Death Note and chuckled "I can't believe you're this stupid, L" he said as he started writing the man's name "this could've been fun if you'd been smarter" he waited forty seconds and Lind L. Tailor died on screen "what's the matter? What do you have to say?!" He lauged, but it faded away as a gothic capital L appeared on the screen

"I can't believe it..." a voice said, Light didn't understand what was happening "I tested it just in case, but I never thought it could actually be true... Kira, it seems you can kill people without having to be there in person" the voice sounded surprised even though it was clearly not the person's real voice "I wouldn't have been able to believe it if I hadn't just witnessed it. Listen closely, Kira; if you did indeed kill the 'Lind L. Tailor' on screen, I can tell you that he was in fact a criminal that was due to be put to death today" there was a couple of seconds of silence, Light stood still "that was not me"

The boy's eyes widened, it couldn't be... "what?"

"He was a criminal that was captured by the police in absolute secrecy, you wouldn't have heard of him in the news or through the internet, looks like you don't have information of this kind of criminals"

Ryuk laughed "heh, he's got ya this time"

"I am L... so come on! Try and kill me!" L challenged "What's wrong? Do it quickly! C'mon, kill me!" He taunted "what's the matter? Can't you do it? It seems that you can't kill me...so, there are some people you can't kill, thanks for the hint. As a reward, I'll tell you one more thing" Light couldn't belive what was happening, this L guy was challenging him, but what did he know? "I told you that this is a live broadcast worldwide, but... the truth is, it's only being broadcasted in the Kanto region of Japan

"We were planning to broadcast it at different times, across different regions, but it seems that there's no longer any need for this..."

"This L guy is pretty good" the Shinigami pointed out

"Your first killing was overlooked by the police as it was such a small incident, however, your first victim was in fact the phantom killer in Shinjuku..." Light stopped listening for a moment, who was this guy? And how did he know all that? "Just those pieces of information were enough for me to figure it out, it means that you are in Japan, and that that criminal was your first 'experiment'. Due to it's large population, this announcement was first broadcasted in the Kanto region, and what a luck! We found you. To be honest, I never thought it'd go this smoothly, Kira, it seems it won't be too long before I can sentence you to death

"Kira, I'm curious to know your true motives behind this... but I guess that can wait until I've caught you. We'll meet again soon, Kira" and static's what followed

"He's going to... sentence me to death?" Light whispered, he then smirked "interesting, I'll accept your challenege" He said determinated "L..."

"Kira..."

"I'll hunt you down and kill you!" They both said at the same time

"I am..." Light started

"I am..."

"Justice!"
