Chapter 14: Where The Moving Castle...Moves Houses?!?

I woke up the next morning feeling better than I did in days! The morning's light had already risen high when I woke up next to Lord of the Rings, and I saw as the curtains shifted to the side.

"Amelia, wake up." I felt Howl shake my shoulder softly which woke me up a little more. I groaned and shifted again, hoping he got the message.

"YO! WAKE UP!!" I was kicked out of bed and into the hardwood floor. Low and behold, of course this was Danny's doing.

"Why......." I whined a little, and I heard Calcifer chuckling to himself.

"Human! You're about to witness something only a few ever have the privilege of witnessing!" He spat a small flame at me which I quickly dismissed with my hand.

"And that is?"

"The Moving Castle moving homes." Howl replied while his body moved quickly; tying things down and walking outside to chalk up some circle.
I looked into my backpack for a new set of clothes, but alas, I don't have any clean clothes. I sighed and looked down at my pajamas, because they looked like a train wreck.

"Here;" Michael caught my attention as he held out his hand. In it was a dress made of a pine tree green. His other hand was quite busy combing through the rat's nest one should never call hair. I laughed and ushered him closer.

"You have to pick the tangles out lightly; otherwise it will only hurt." I explained when I slid my brush through his unruly hair. He sighed in front of me and we stood in silence for a second before I stepped back to look at my work. "Nice."

"Thanks." Michael now ran a hand through his hair again and gave a satisfied grin towards me. "Now time to get that dress on."

"There." Howl sighed as he wiped away the sweat on his forehead. "Amelia! Have you secured the furniture?"

He looked up as the red head popped her head out the window. Her hair braided to her shoulder, and blowing in the quiet wind. Howl stopped breathing for a minute, as if he didn't know how to.

"Yeah! Getting the table secure as we speak!" She waved to the wizard, but he didn't wave back. Shrugging, she disappeared out of sight.

Was that Amelia? Howl had to ask once or twice to himself.

"Howl!" Michael came to stand in front of him, and yet the man hadn't noticed his apprentice. The boy snapped his fingers once more before Howl reached up to grasp Michael's hand.

"What?"

"Everything's ready. Calcifer says it's time to come inside." Taking one more look at his handiwork, the two walked back inside.

Okay, so apparently the house can move homes. Don't really understand, but okay then. Just like my math homework: YOLO through this.

"Soooooo....what are you doing?" I leaned over Howl as he drew with chalk on the wood floor. After a long conversation with my bro bro, both of us realized that place feels too much like de ja vue. BUT WHY WE HAVE NO I D E A AND ITS KILLING ME INSIDE!!

"Summoning the dead?" Danny popped up behind Howl with a bagel in hand. "If so, I call letting the zombies turn Amy here first."

"Curve your tongue knave!" Calcifer spat, and I couldn't help but laugh, because when a fire is threatening you as it hangs on for dear life on a log, it isn't that threatening.

"We are moving houses. As the castle has the power to "live" in vacant houses, it'd be best to move while Salazar is unaware of our current whereabouts." Howl explained before shoving me off into a corner.

That's when he scooted Calcifer's small body onto a small shovel; taking note of the small lump that he seemed to be connected to. Is that coal? No idea.

"Prepare for a miracle humans!!!" Calcifer grew in size as I watched before my eyes his small flame became green, then blue!

The room around me was changing right before my eyes!! HOLY- I felt the wall come out behind me, causing me to fall into Howl accidentally. He grabbed ahold of my waist and kept me steady as Danny laughed with vigor along with Michael as they were jerked around by the changing floor boards.

"Woah!" I exclaimed as my hair floated above my head like a ring around my head. I smiled and let a giggle escape my lips. "This is amazing!"

"Of course it is!" Howl grinned back. And for a minute, it seemed as if all his troubles were gone, and he was the happy man I had first met. "And now,"

The room quickened its pace of change which caused my hair to whip around wildly. Suddenly it stopped, and only then did I realize that we were floating off the ground; LIKE SPAAAAAACCCCEEEE!

I looked up as I heard Howl's chuckle. His faint smile and eyes stared back.

"Look around you."

And I did. The house was completely different! Baby blue walls and an oak wood floor polished to perfection- AND CLEAN! DAAAAAAAMMMNNN! He set me down and I raced around as I explored.

Racing up the stairs, I searched every door, and the only ones that stayed consistent were Howl's room, Michael's room, and the Piano room. I watched as Danny joined me in the hallway, and pulled me into the piano room. And I knew right away what he wanted.

"And what'll it be?"

"Sing us a song your the piano woman!" He laughed. Alrighty then, Piano Man it was.

I started slow but quickly moved with the tempo my brother set. That's my brother for you, always taking every chance to show off my talent.

Though I have to admit he isn't bad at singing.

"He said 'Son can you play me a memory? Not really sure how it goes, but it's sad and its sweet and it made me complete when I wore a younger man's clothes'." Danny smiled as he pushed back his red hair.

Michael came running in with the widest smile a teen could ever have. Danny kept singing; like he never noticed anything else. Calcifer's small body rose up in a fireplace not far away- must be something new Howl put in the room.

And everything felt right in that moment.

Amelia was playing once more. Howl tilted his nose into the air as the melody danced down the steps to greet his ears.

Sighing, he simply say back in his chair as the supposed chorus played loudly. A rather short letter clutched in his hand, he leaned his head back further until his raven hair fell over the back of the wooden seat.

Dear Howl Pendragon, the letter had started.

Concerning Amelia Starr, do not think that changing addresses can get me off your bum forever. Elder will have her, and I'll be the one to rip her from you the exact way I ripped Sophie from you.

Sincerely, Salazar

Howl, with great stress, sat in the growing darkness as the red blazing ball of sunlight slipped past the trees and hills; retreating further and further away from Howl.
