Chapter 3

Look how cute Kristen is!! Agh! Anyways! To the story!!
---------------------------

I stared out the window of my biology class. Thoughts about Volk were clouding up my mind; distracting me from the boring class. Not like that'll effect me though, I have a decent B+ in that class. I started to twirl my pencil around on my desk as my eyes watched rain drops slide down the window panes. That was until I heard the roar of an angry wolf. Followed by with a giant wolf sprinting straight at the window. It lunges towards it but thunder rings throughout the mountains. It disappeared.. I run a hand through my hair, utterly confused. I look around the room to only see everyone chuckling at me. The teacher stands at the front of the class, his hands on his hips.

"Eau? What's the answer?" Wait what? They didn't just see that?!

"E-Excuse me? Can you repeat it again Mr. Rombock?" I could hear him groan. He asked me a pointless question and I answered it smoothly. I heard a familiar chuckle across the room. I glanced over to the sound to see Volk, practically being cuddled by Shelly. He rolled his eyes at Shelly and mouthed something to me.

"Gorgeous ain't it?" He mouthed. He probably was talking about Shelly. I rolled my eyes. "No. The wolf."

And the bell rang.

Everyone sprinted out of the class room and through the hallways. This occurred with every classroom in every hallway. It looked like Black Friday in my damn school! Shelly shoved past me, knocking me over, and jogged to her group of poodles in her high heels. Oh I wish she fell and broke her ankle... But a girl could only wish. Getting up, I grabbed my text book, my binder, and my mechanical pencil. Shelly's high pitched giggles echoed down the hallway and our eyes locked.... Yeah, she's a b*tch.

"Hey.. You okay?" Volk gently set a hand on my elbow, helping me up. I nod slowly, but grin slightly at Shelly. She storms off.

"Maybe you could give me a tour around the school now? Ya know since its lunch hour." He smiles and I nod. Wait.. It's really lunch already? Volk nods and walks down the over flowing hall of teenagers. I began to follow him. He goes all the way down the hall and opens a locker. Normally, every student gets 15 minutes on the first day to decorate; and most the lockers are covered in stuff. But instead, a single picture is hanging in the door. It was a wolf on a cliff, howling up towards a full red moon. It was gorgeous. I had hundreds; maybe thousands of wolf pictures hanging in my room and locker combined.

"I like this picture." I touched it lightly and it felt like a painting. Volk shot a dangerous glare at me.

"I painted it. Please be careful..." He mumbled the last part and put his books back inside his empty locker. The tone in his voice was coated with something dangerous. I stepped back to give him space. I didn't want to be killed anytime soon. Volk noticed my approach and started chuckling. "Sorry, Emi." I frowned when he got my name wrong.

"Its uh.. Eau.." I mumble and looked at my converse. Volk gulped and rubbed my arm.

"Uh.. Sorry." He smiled and I couldn't stay mad at him. His smile melted my heart away. Being the girl I am, I tucked a piece of my hair behind my hair with a slight blush. In every movie or show, girls do this to show they have a crush on the damn person! But the person never knows they do! Well.. Except for Volk. His cheeks were bright. "Anyways!" He cleared his throat. "Shall we?" He motioned down the hall and I giggle, walking in that direction. When I felt his presence following right on my heels, I walked faster towards the lunch room.

"This is the cafeteria." Motioning to the crowded room.

"Its like a war in here. Everyone would kill someone just for something to eat." I laughed at his response. I did the same with all the classrooms and office, Volk giving funny remarks to each room.

We were laughing and walking down the hallway when Volk grabbed my wrist and yanked me towards him.

"Do not talk. Just stay silent." He mumbled as I glanced up at him. His eyes were darker than usual and... His arms were around my waist?! I didn't even notice!! I started to squirm.

"Volk, come on lemme go."

"Shush." He motioned down the hall and my heart stopped.

A boy with short brown hair stood in the middle of a hallway with a cigarette dangling between his lips. A leather jacket clung for dear life around his muscles. He was pretty damn good looking.. I felt his eyes burning me. But they were burning through Volk instead.

"Volk. Why do you have a human with you?" The boy grumbled. Wait.. Aren't we all humans here? I wondered silently.

"She was just showing me around." Volk growled back and I felt the vibration on my back. God damn..

"Bullsh*t."

"Shut it James."

"No. If she's just showing you around, you won't mind if I come and introduce myself?" A smirk played on the boy's--James's lips and eyes. I could practically hear Volk frown.

"No."

"No? She is just a useless human showing you around, or is it something more?" James snickered and started making his way over. I don't want this boy over here.

"Back away James. She is innocent." Innocent?

"Nah." Suddenly I was flung away from Volk and embraced in someone else's arms. James. The smell of firewood climbed into my nose and I had to keep back a happy sigh. Firewood burning in the night wind is my all time favorite smell. I looked up at Volk, who looked like he was gonna rip James to shreds. Uh oh..
