Ch. 2 I'm looking for Diagon Alley
Evelyn walks in the hallway, watching servants greet her with a head bow. She looks at them from the corner of her eyes and nods. She walks past them to the top of the stairs.
Her eyes blink when she spots Rebecca conversing with the Carrington's Head Butler and her Paternal figure, thirty-two-year-old Abraham Lucas, in the Foyer.
" Good morning, Lucas," She greeted, grabbing the two adults' attention.
Rebecca and Abraham turned their gaze, seeing Evelyn walking down the stairs.
" Good morning, Young Lady Carrington," Abraham greeted.
" Are you heading out?" Rebecca asked when she saw the dark brown handbag over her right shoulder.
" Yes," Evelyn nodded.
" I am going to ask Leonard to take me to Charing Cross Road," She walks towards the Grand doors and opens it.
" Be careful. Call us if anything," Abraham looks at Evelyn.
Evelyn nodded, pulling out the cell phone that was given to her by her parents for her eleventh birthday last year.
" Will do. Have a good day, you two," She turns and waves goodbye, walking out of the Manor and onto the stone stairs.
" Leonard. Please, take me to Charing Cross Road," She looks at the Carrington Family Chauffeur, forty-year-old Leonard Spencer, polishing one of the limo's wheels.
Leonard stood straight and bowed midway. He turns and opens the back passenger door, watching Evelyn get inside. He closed the door and speed-walked around the limo.
He gets inside, puts on his seat belt, turns on the limo, and drives. He looks at Evelyn from the rearview mirror, seeing her looking at two letters curiously.
" What are you reading, Young Lady Carrington?" He asked while looking at the road, leaving the Carrington property.
" I got accepted to attend a fancy boarding school in Scotland," Evelyn responded. " Mother and Father were talking about this school before they left to do their own thing," She said.
" Scotland? That's like a six-hour drive from here, My Lady," Leonard declared.
Evelyn hummed in response.
" I'll be getting my school supplies at Charing Cross Road," She stared at the back of Leonard's head.
Leonard nodded.
Thirty minutes later, the limo arrives at Charing Cross Road. Leonard parks the limo in front of a bookshop. He looks at his surroundings with mixed emotions.
" Where will you get your school supplies, Young Lady Carrington?" Leonard asked.
Evelyn looked at her surroundings, and her eyes blinked when she saw an Inn between the bookshop and a record shop. Her eyes squinted, seeing a sign that said The Leaky Cauldron.
' Cauldron? A Cauldron is where Witches brew their Potions,' She internally says.
Her eyes blink when she hears a loud masculine voice approaching the left side of the limo. She turned to the sound, her eyebrow rose, and her eyes widened when she saw a sixty-two-year-old tall man wearing foreign clothing walking by.
" Hagrid. Are you sure this is where I'll get my school supplies?" She heard a young masculine voice ask.
Her eyes blinked, spotting an eleven-year-old male with shaggy black hair and vibrant green eyes hidden behind a pair of circular glasses, wearing baggy clothing and walking beside the taller male named Hagrid.
" We are in the right location, Harry," Hagrid reassured. " See that Inn over there. It will take us to Diagon Alley," He points to the Inn that says The Leaky Cauldron.
' They must be Magical like me if they are going to Diagon Alley, where I'll get my school supplies for this Hogwarts School,' Evelyn internally says.
" I see a friend of mine, Leonard. I'll call you when I'm done," She exits the limo.
Leonard opened his mouth to say something but stopped when Evelyn approached Hagrid and Harry.
" Good Morning!" Evelyn greeted, surprising Harry since he saw her leaving a fancy limo.
" Hello. What can I do for you?" Hagrid asked.
" I'm looking for Diagon Alley. You see, I received this envelope with my name on it. And the letter states that I got accepted to attend a Magical school called Hogwarts. According to this letter, I am a Witch," Evelyn explained, pulling out the familiar letter with Hogwarts Crest from her dark brown handbag.
" You're a Witch! I'm a Wizard. I just found out today. I'm Harry, by the way. Harry Potter," Harry introduced himself.
" Nice to meet you, Harry. My name is Evelyn Carrington," Evelyn smiled.
Hagrid watches the limo drive away, and he looks at Evelyn.
" A Muggle-Born Witch without a Professor. How bizarre? Don't worry, Young Lady. You can come with Harry and I. My name is Rubeus Hagrid. I am the Keeper of the Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts," He smiled.
Evelyn looked relieved to know that Hagrid was an employee at Hogwarts. She watched the taller male open the door of the Leaky Cauldron.
" You two get inside now," Hagrid motioned the two children into the Leaky Cauldron.
" Um. After you," Harry shyly stares at Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled, and she stepped inside the Leaky Cauldron. Her eyes blinked, and she looked at her surroundings. She saw that the pub was dark and shabby, with a bar and several tables in the shadows of the corners.
' Is this some kind of facade?' She internally asked. ' Why is this place so shady?' She frowned, looking worried.
Harry and Hagrid entered the Leaky Cauldron.
" Follow me, you two. We are heading to the back of the pub," Hagrid looks at the two children.
" Oh! Hagrid. Hello, staying here for the night?" A masculine voice asked.
Hagrid and the children turned to see the Inn-Keeper, fifty-two-year-old Tom, walking around the counter and standing beside the taller male.
" Ah! Hello, Tom. No. I will not be staying here for the night. I'm here on school duty. Bringing Harry Potter and this young lady, Evelyn Carrington, to the Wizarding World to get their school supplies," Hagrid responded.
Evelyn's eyes blinked, looking confused when she heard gasps. She looked to see people wearing clothing from the Victorian Era surrounding them.
" As I live and breathe! The Great Harry Potter stands before me," A masculine voice says.
" Oh my! He looks so much like his father. But, he also has his mother's beautiful green eyes," A feminine voice says.
Evelyn glanced at Harry and noticed he looked confused and overwhelmed by the sudden attention he was getting.
" Starting your first year?" A second masculine voice asked.
Harry's eyes blinked, looking at the Wizard, and he remembered seeing him bowing when he was younger.
" I remember you," He stared.
The Wizard smiled, looking happy to hear that Harry remembered him.
" Dedalus Diggle at your service!" He takes off his hat and gives him a head bow.
" Are you a Prince or something?" Evelyn leans closer to Harry, curious about the young male.
Harry looks at Evelyn and then at Hagrid, wondering if he's a Magical Royal.
" Alright! Alright! Everyone. Please step away from the children!" Hagrid firmly says, watching everyone walk away and continue doing their thing.
" Are you two alright?" He asked, looking at the two children worryingly.
" I'm fine," Evelyn responded.
" I'm okay. Why was everyone so happy to see me, Hagrid?" Harry asked, looking confused.
Hagrid opened his mouth to say something but stopped when he heard a familiar, stuttering masculine voice. He turns, seeing twenty-four-year-old Muggle Studies Professor Quirinus Quirrell walk towards him and the two children.
" H-Hagrid. D-Doing school b-business?" Professor Quirrell asked.
" Ah! Professor Quirrell. Good to see you. Yes, I am. Taking Harry and Evelyn to Diagon Alley to get their school supplies," Hagrid smiled.
Harry and Evelyn stared at Professor Quirrell, surprised that they were standing before one of their Professors.
" Harry. Evelyn. Meet Professor Quirrell. He teaches Muggles Studies at Hogwarts. It's an elective course that you can take in your 3rd year and above," Hagrid introduced.
" I-I am now the-the Professor of-of Defence Against-Against the Dark-Dark Arts," Professor Quirrell informs the trio.
" You got a new job position! So happy for you, Professor Quirrell," Hagrid smiled while lightly patting Professor Quirrell's back.
" Thank-Thank you," Professor Quirrell awkwardly smiled.
" Have-Have a good day. You two," He looks at Harry and Evelyn and walks away.
" He's weird," Evelyn mutters to Harry.
Harry held a chuckle, not wanting to be rude in front of Hagrid.
" Alright. Now onward to Diagon Alley," Hagrid guides the two children to the back of the pub.
" I don't see a door," Evelyn looked at the brick wall while Harry nodded in agreement.
" Tom. Can you open the portal to Diagon Alley?" Hagrid asked.
" Portal?" Evelyn and Harry stared at one another.
" Of course!" Tom walks to the back of the pub, pulls out a wand, and taps the brick wall, activating the portal between Diagon Alley and the Muggle World.
Evelyn and Harry heard movement and saw the bricks transforming into a stone archway. Their eyes widened when they saw an alleyway that leads to the busy streets of Diagon Alley.
