Long ago, there was a wisp of stardust that lived in a tall mountain. It had been searching for a vessel, a creature it could channel its power into. The animals it saw were interesting, but didn't quite fit. Then the wolves came.

They were everything the piece of stardust had been looking for. They were calm and intelligent, respectful warriors and hunters who knew how to communicate without a single sound being made. There was one in particular that grabbed the stardust's attention. She was a pure white wolf, and was wiser than any others in her pack. The stardust fused with her, and they were one. The White Wolf became immortal, and had the ability to heal any wound her packmates might suffer.

When she discovered she had become pregnant with her mortal mates pups, she fled. She ran to the top of the mountain where the stardust had lived, and had her pups there. First came Bonum, the spirit of good. Then came Neutrum, the spirit of neutrality. Last came Malum, the spirit of evil. The pups became known as the Three Brothers.

The stardust decided that the four were too powerful to remain on the mountain, so they were lifted off to the stars to watch over their former packmates.
