Chapter 4

Hyori POV

I ask him to accompany me again, the following Friday, and he does nothing but smile and move his things over to my side once more.

This time though, I decide to speak rather than the silence that had occupied our space a week before. So I choose to introduce myself.

"I'm Hyori."

"Jungkook," he flashes a smile.

"Nice to meet you."

"You as well."

I find out that he's twenty four, not much older than me. Just a year.

"What are you working on?" I ask once gathering the courage, being curious as to what he had been writing in that small notebook of his, but not wanting to dive into his privacy.

"It's a song I'm working on." he replies, tilting the book towards me. "It's called White Skies."

"That's an interesting name. Is there a meaning behind it?"

He takes a moment and shrugs.

"Sometimes life isn't cloudy, nor is it bright. It's using the sky as a metaphor for when life has its clouds but sunshine as well. If that makes sense."

"It does. That's pretty deep and smart."

"Thank you."

He has a nice smile, I came to realise. One that's genuine and causes his eyes to wrinkle at their corners. It suits him. And it makes me want to smile as well.

We continue to make small talk, getting to know each other as we go. He never ends up bringing up the absence of Jimin, my ex who I used to come here every friday with, and I'm glad he doesn't ask.

And as weeks go one, I become grateful for him being gone, because of the new company I had come to get used to and now eagerly look forward to.

Some weeks I bring cards, and others he brings me a drink. He shows me some of his songs, whether left unfinished or now out on the web. And I give him my feedback, which usually results in him excessively getting shy and thanking me humbly.

"The stars are unusually beautiful tonight." I say out loud after a moment of comfortable silence had fallen among us, admiring the scattered specs that illuminate the sky.

"Yeah, they are." he replies as we sit next to each other, his knee slightly brushing against mine. I then look up at him, catching his eyes on me. My lips break out into a smile, and his follows, a flutter erupting in my chest.

I don't notice the way he has inched closer at first, but do when his doe eyes begin to trail lower as his smile starts to fall. He holds a different kind of look in his eyes as they move back up to look into mine. And I don't move.

Even though he leans even closer. Even when his head tilts to the side.

Even when his lips finally graze mine
