Chapter 33: Sparring and a Climbing Trees. Part Four

It's been a week since I moved in here. Today, Takara said she had something planned. Well, I came to realize she wanted to test my skills. That's what Chikako insinuated anyway.

"Alright, follow me!" Takara commanded with an excited smile. She led us to an empty section of the yard..

"So why are we out here?" I inquired getting nervous for some reason.

"Well, as we all are our own family, we need to be able to protect our selves." Takara started before pointing at Chikako. "Chikako already has her own fighting style that she had before we met, but I don't know about you."

"I use the Hyuuga style." I informed her.

"Hm... I need to see your skills so fight Chikako." She told me.

I looked over at Chikako and gulped. She had this grin that give me shivers. It made me jump back a bit. I watched as she walked straight across from me.

"Don't worry I'll go easy on you." Chikako mocked. Or at least that's what it felt like.

"Do we have to fight?" I asked already knowing he answer. I got into position. My body ready to fight in the style it knew so well.

"Begin."

I never was one to attack first. Sometimes that would be a problem because we'd end up just staying still until someone conceded to attack first. This time though, Chikako struck.

I quickly put my arms in defense from the incoming punch. She hit hard, and I could tell it was going to leave a bruise. However, it was nothing I wasn't used to.

"Byakugan!" I shouted. As quick as I could physically go I launched myself back at her. I couldn't keep this up very long, so I would have to strike as many time as I could.

We both exchanged blows, but anybody could tell from a quick glance who was winning. It definitely wasn't me. Suddenly, a harder strike sent me backwards making me land on the ground.

"Ugh..." I groaned. "The ground certainly wants to get close today."

"Well, Chikako won that fight. I guess that was mostly a tai fight. Which happens to be Chikako's second best subject." Takara stated.

"Yup, chakra strings for Puppetry is my ace." Chikako laughed offering me hand.

"Well, that style of tai is all I know." I pursed my lips reluctantly accepting her hand.

"Well, it screams Hyuuga." Takara dug in her side pouch pulling out a piece of paper. Which she handed to me. "Flow you chakra through it."

"Okay..." I skeptically did as she asked. The paper became soggy before crumbling slightly.

"Oh! It looks like you chakra nature is Water, which is your main. then Earth, which is your secondary." Chikako shook my hands excitedly. "I've only got one and it's lightning, I'm not good at ninjutsu, so I don't really need it."

"What this means is I can teach you. My main is Earth, so I can teach you some jutsu. It will be a bit harder since your main is water, but hard work will prevail." Takara ranted putting her hand on my shoulder.

"Can you show me one?" I asked ecstatically.

"Hm... Normally we'd practice chakra control first, but.... I guess I'll show you a simple one." Takara smiled forming some signs slowly, so that I could see. "Earth Style: Stone Shuriken Skill."

Rocks formed and took the shape of a Shuriken. Takara shot them at a tree. She got them all next to each other in a perfect line.

"Isn't Takara cool!" Chikako shouted.

"Yeah." I muttered in awe. It was such a simple jutsu, but the way she did it was amazing.

"Yup, well practice makes perfect." Takara smiled widely. "Ooh, I know what to teach. Tree walking!"

"Noo..." Chikako groaned.

"Tree walking?" I asked confused.

"Yup!" Takara chirped. She walked towards the tree. When it looked like she was gonna slam into it she took a step on the tree, and kept walking up. It was as of gravity had no effect.

"How do you do this? I mean, what chakra method did you use?" I questioned running up to her tree.

"We are supposed to focus our chakra into our feet. You can have too much or you'll blow off. Too little and you'll fall." Chikako muttered irritated.

"What's wrong?" I asked wanting to know what she had against this.

"Chikako is good at chakra control but through her hands. A lot of people have trouble moving the chakra to their feet. I actually started teaching her a bit before we met, and afterwards we never had time for training." Takara shook her index finger back in forth before jumping down right in front of me. "Chikako demonstrate."

I watched as Chikako got ready to do it. Unlike Takara, she didn't just walk up. She stopped, then proceeded to close her eyes and make a hand sign. I'm assuming to focus her chakra.

Finally, she flashed her eyes open and walked. Chikako looked a bit shaky doing it, but she kept her calm and made it to the branch that Takara had been.

"She's about got it down, but someday you'll be able to do this without stopping to focus. As ninjas something like this will be second nature." Takara lectured. "Now Himawari, you try."

"R-really!" I stuttered took off guard. I hadn't really expected trying just yet.

"Don't worry. I'll be right below you if you fall." Takara cooed at me. The thing is I hadn't worried about before. The look of dread must be clear as day on my face.

Swallowing my fear, I edged myself to the tree. Okay, so I need to evenly distribute the chakra to my feet. Following Chikako's lead I stopped at the front to focus.

Thinking that I had he right amount I took my first step. With each step I tried to keep my chakra consistent. However, on my 12th step I blew backward.I wasn't high up, so I just ended up falling back onto Takara.

"Now what did she do wrong?" Takara asked Chikako.

"She was putting so much focus on keeping it consistent that she forgot to realize as she got higher he tree changed in thickness." Chikako stuck her chin up like a know-it-all.

"Oh..." I murmured my face red.

"It's alright. As you keep training you'll have a natural feel for how much chakra you'll need." Takara grinned at me again. As quick as he grin came it left, being replied by a half urgent face. "I just remembered!"

"Remembered what?" Chikako questioned.

"In a few days we need to take a trip. We can show Hima the countryside and take her to the nearest village." She started to twirl a strand of hair around her finger.

"Wait!" I yelled. "Where are we? And what village? And why?"

"You don't know?" Chikako said in disbelief. I shook my head. Takara dug through her pack and pulled out a map.

"We are here." Takara pointed to a section. "We are in the Land of Water. You see the part where the Land of Fire narrows. Then there is the border. We are more towards the end of it. We are a lot closer to the Hidden Mist Village, the the Leaf."

"I didn't know I went that way." I was honestly surprised, and a bit angry with myself for choosing that path. I did learn in class that they weren't very acceptant of Kekkei Genkais.

"Yeah. We are going to a village on the closest island. We'll have to take a boat, but hat village is closer that the one on the mainland. Besides less people are likely to be looking for you there. We're going for supplies. There are some things you just can't get in nature."

"What's the village?" Chikako questioned seeing as it wasn't on the map.

"Aoi Kiku. It's the village of Blue Chrysanthemums." Takara sighed a bit. "Anyway, keep practicing. I'll be back by later."

"Chikako and I just watched in wonder as she walked off. Was this village special to her? It certainly sounded so.
