Chapter 57

It was already nighttime and almost the entirety of Class A had gathered in the common area. The only ones not there yet were the girls, and Bakugo, who had gone to sleep. They seemed a bit exhausted after having been working on their rooms all day.

"Ahh, I'm so tired." Kirishima plopped down on one of the couches with the other guys.

"Kirishima, are you finally done with your room?" Sero, who had been done with his room for a little while, asked his classmate.

"Yeah, finally!"

"Good work," Midoriya smiled at his classmates. He had also finished his room a little while ago.

"How things ended up this way weren't great, but it's kind of exciting to live together, huh?" Kaminari grinned.

"Yeah!"

"Living together..." Iida started as he made large movements with his arms. "This is also training to help us learn cooperation and discipline!"

"You're really going all out, huh, Iida?" Kirishima looked at the class president. Everyone seemed rather excited about it, though.

"Boys, are you all done with your rooms?" Ashido grinned as the girls finally came in.

"Yup." Kaminari raised a hand in greeting towards six of the girls. Apparently, Asui didn't come down with them. "Just relaxing now."

"Well, the girls were all talking just now..." Ashido started with Hagakure intervening.

"And we have an idea."

"Want to have a room presentation contest?!"

The boys all had different responses to the idea. Some seemed to freeze up in fear or hesitation while others seemed to be quite excited. Others, however, didn't seem to really be all too fazed. *Cough* Todoroki *Cough*

"I-I think it'll b-be fun!" Masami smiled as she went to go stand by Todoroki, who looked like he was debating with himself whether or not he wanted to participate.

It's safe to say that his internal debate ended quickly after Masami spoke up.

"See!" Ashido hugged the quiet girl from behind. "Even the shy, quiet Masami agrees!"

"Unfortunately..." The students froze as their teacher walked into the room. His face was as blank as ever, so they weren't sure what he was there for. "Masami can't join you tonight. She has to go see Recovery Girl."

"E-eh? B-but sensei--" Masami was cut off as Aizawa just grabbed the back of her hood and began dragging her towards the door, ignoring all of her complaints as she reached out pathetically towards her friends. It was too bad that the teachers had banned her from wearing her weights so long as she was injured. "I-I wanted to join th-the contest too...!"

The entirety of Class A sweat dropped at the sight of the pouting Masami who had decided to be stubborn and just let Aizawa drag her instead of walking herself. They had never seen her act so childish...

"You'll be back in less than an hour," Aizawa sighed at the girl. He was glad that she trusted him now, but he didn't realize that the price of trust would be her being childish. Though, he supposed he should be glad that she still had any childishness left at all. "Quit acting that way, and just walk, would you?"

"Fine..." Masami pouted as she stood up, and Aizawa finally let go of her hood.

"I never took you as one for dramatics..."

"You should be able to take off your casts and bandages within the next week, surprisingly enough." Masami sighed in relief at the news Recovery Girl gave her. The hero had just healed her as much as she could without killing the young girl, and now, Masami was feeling exhausted. "You heal rather quickly even without my quirk."

"A-ah," Masami rubbed the back of her head a bit sheepishly as she gave a nervous smile. "Sh-Shiro has a tendency t-to help with my injuries. Wh-while she can't h-heal them, she can s-speed up my r-recovery."

"Hmm," Recovery Girl seemed to take a few notes before walking away towards her desk. "Well, you're free to go for tonight." She shot a look towards Aizawa. "You make sure that she doesn't try to skip out on any of the sessions this week."

"I know," Aizawa rolled his eyes. "I already had to drag her to this one."

"I figured as much..."

"Is it over?" Todoroki asked as the room contest finally ended. While he had enjoyed being with his friends, he wished that Masami had been there as well. Plus, he was tired. He really wanted to go to sleep. "Can I go to sleep now?"

"Yes!" Iida replied. "Since you had cake, don't forget to brush your teeth!"

"He was waiting until it was over, huh?" Midoriya smiled a bit at how much Todoroki had changed from when they first met. He had never imagined that they would end up being such good friends.

"Oh, Todoroki-kun, wait a sec!" Uraraka called out before the boy could fully leave the room. "Deku and Iida, too, and Kirishima and Yaoyorozu. Do you have a minute?"

They all looked a bit confused but still followed her outside. "Uraraka, where...?"

They all paused at the sight of Asui. They had a dreading feeling about where this conversation was about to go.

Meanwhile, Aizawa and Masami were on their way back to the dorms. Masami's appointment with Recovery Girl hadn't taken very long, but the walk to and from takes about five to ten minutes. So, they walked in an almost consistent silence. Or, it would have been consistent, if it weren't for Masami finally speaking up.

"Do..." She seemed to hesitate with her words making Aizawa send her a small glance. "Do you think I-I should tell the rest of the class about... You know what...?"

She was referring to her identity as Shirokage.

"..." They both stopped in their steps at the question. Aizawa hadn't really been expecting her to ask that question. Sure, he wasn't surprised that such a question had been weighing on her mind. He was more surprised that she was asking him instead of trying to figure it out on her own. Either way "It's not really my place to answer that. You're the only one that can make that decision."

"..." She stood there in silence before finally sighing. "I suppose y-you're right..."

The silence had returned as they both continued walking. It didn't take long before they finally reached the dorm. And, it was safe to say, they were not expecting to walk in on the sight they saw at the entrance.

For some reason, Asui was crying. Now, let's just make it clear that Masami is a complete sucker when it comes to crying people. Well, unless it's a situation like with Noriko and the alligator tears. But, in cases where someone is seriously crying, Masami has a tendency to panic. Like, full out mother hen panic mode.

The only thing that stopped her from running over there immediately was the conversation that was going on.

It was a conversation that made her freeze in place.

"--I didn't feel like I could have fun talking with everyone..." Asui croaked out. "But... That made me very sad... That's why I wanted to talk you even if I couldn't gather my thoughts properly, so that I could have fun and talk with everyone again."

Masami's heartstrings seemed to be tugged as she looked at the crying girl. She felt all the guilt that she had accumulated over the years wash over her all at once. And, it was because of that, that she finally made a decision.

Aizawa could only sigh as he noticed the determination that suddenly appeared on the girl's face. He could already figure out what she was about to do and decided that it would be best if he wasn't there for it.

So...

He basically ditched her.

"It's not just Tsuyu-chan that feels thisway," Uraraka admitted after putting a comforting hand on the crying girl's back. "Everyone felt uneasy and wanted to make that feeling go away... That's why... The 'Room King' and everything was because they understood how you all felt... So don't blame them, but, you know... I mean, I know it's hard, but anyway... Let's all work hard together and laugh together again!"

Oh dear, Masami could feel the tears starting to well up in her eyes.

"Tsu-san!" Kirishima yelled out suddenly gaining her attention. "I'm sorry! Thanks for telling us!"

"Asui-san!"

"Tsuyu-san!"

"Asui, sorry." Of course, Todoroki was the only one without a change of expression...

"Asu-- Tsuyu-chan!" Midoriya got out as they all began to surround her.

"I won't ever do it again." Kirishima promised while Asui began sobbing.

"Me neither."

"I promise!"

It was at that moment that Masami finally stepped in. She was honestly surprised that none of them had noticed her yet. She was kind of standing in plain sight.

"Tsuyu-chan!" Masami called out to the girl, using her given name for the first time. Everybody looked in surprise at her sudden appearance as she practically tackled the frog-like girl in a hug on the verge of tears "I'm so sorry! I'll never do it again either!"

Her friends blinked a bit in confusion as they processed what she just said whilst Masami just sniffled a bit as she made an attempt to stifle her tears.

"Either?" Midoriya questioned his childhood friend. He had a theory about what she meant, but he wasn't quite ready to admit it.

Masami didn't reply right away as she took a couple of seconds before releasing Asui from her hug.

"What do you mean?" Kirishima asked as his face twisted in confusion. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to understand at all. "Weren't you in the hospital?"

While Masami had been expecting it, she blushed at all the attention shifting to her. She knew that this was a perfect time to fess up, but she was still a bit hesitant.

"O-oh, um a-about that..." She chuckled nervously whilst rubbing the back of her head. "I-I actually s-snuck out and s-sort of, kind of f-followed all of you guys th-that night..."

"What?!" Kirishima was the one that shouted in surprise while the others looked at her with wide eyes. They all seemed to get where she was going with this.

"I-I know I should h-have told you guys this b-before." Masami looked down as she twiddled nervously with her fingers. "B-but would you g-guys mind if I explain i-in front of everyone else? I-I promise that I-I'll explain e-everything!"

"Well..." Masami looked up in surprise when Todoroki placed a hand on atop her head. "You definitely have a lot of explaining to do..."

For some reason, he wasn't that tired anymore.

I'm really sorry for the long wait, you guys! I've just had major writer's block for this chapter! Actually... I wrote this with writer's block, so I apologise if it's not the best. But, I still wanted to get a chapter out. I'll probably edit it later once I have a better idea as to how to format this. As an apology, I have drawn an original version of what Masami looks like. I know it's not the best, but I did what I could. And, I know, I suck at shading. Also, some of you wanted to know what her dorm room looked like, so I made a rough sketch.... A really rough sketch.... It looks like chicken scratch.... Please do not judge. It's just something I whipped up to give you a general idea of what it's like.
