Chapter 30
The next few days passed without incident. We were allowed to stay home to recover from our injuries, but, unfortunately, I still had work. It's not that work was a problem for me. Oh no, it's the fact that I can no longer go out in public without people coming up to talk to me about the Sports Festival. It was kind of scary to be honest. Luckily, Aizawa-sensei's glare seemed to scare them away.
Today, however, was our first day back, and it was raining cats and dogs. Not literally though. Aizawa-sensei's bandages were finally gone, and we had to get to school early because he had a meeting before school started.
So, here I sat, all alone, in my homeroom. Nobody else has arrived, so I had decided to just take out one of my books to read.
This was gonna be a long day...

"... This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day." Aizawa mentioned during his homeroom time. To be honest, he had no interest in the choosing of the kids hero names whatsoever. He'd rather be sleeping. "The drafts begin in earnest in the second and third years, after students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are often cancelled if that interest dies down by graduation."
"So, we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked, huh?" Hagakure questioned eagerly.
"That's right," Aizawa replied dully. "And here are the totals for those with offers." Obviously, both Bakugo and Todoroki had the most, but Todoroki had about 600 more offers than Bakugo despite him being first. "In other years, it's been more spread out, but almost all eyes were on these two this year."
"Gah, there's such a big difference!" Kaminari complained loudly.
"Those pros don't know a good thing when they see one!" Aoyama had little fume marks coming from him that didn't match his smiling facial expression.
"Todoroki's first, and Bakugo's second...?" Jiro questioned with a raised brow.
"It's the opposite of their placement in the Sports Festival." Kirishima noted.
"Some people are too scared to ask for a guy who had to be restrained on the podium." Sero explained in a hushed tone.
"What're the pros scared of?!" Unfortunately, Bakugo heard him...
"It's worth mentioning..." Aizawa started to get the class quiet. "That Hideyoshi Masami, from General Studies, received more offers than anybody in this room. However, she refused her offer into the Heroes Course, so they've all become void."
"EHHHH?!" The majority of the class shouted in surprise at the announcement.
"They must've found Masami's overwhelming strength a surprise considering her lack of quirk." Midoriya was proud of his friend. "She did demonstrate multiple hero like qualities in the Sports Festival, so I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising. But then again, she's still in General Studies, so it's still a bit strange. What's more, she didn't beat Todoroki or Kacchan..."
He was muttering again...
"Well, she is really smart," Ojiro remembered how they won the cavalry battle with ease.
"Yeah, and super strong too!" Ashido chipped in. "She beat me and Iida with ease, and she even went toe to toe with Todoroki!"
"I admit, her speed is something to marvel at," Iida added as he remembered his own match against the girl.
"Isn't she quirkless though?"
"Alright, that's enough!" Aizawa was tired of all the chatter that broke out. "Anyways, keeping those results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you will be participating in internships with pros."
"Internships...?"
*****
"That m-many offers...?" I sweat dropped at the papers Aizawa-sensei handed me as I stood next to him in the staff room.
"Though, they don't really matter much as long as you stay in General Studies." He told me in response as he kept his eyes on a few internship forms in his hands.
"Internships, huh?" The hero known as Snipe came up from behind as he peered at the papers in Aizawa-sensei's hands.
"Yeah." He confirmed. "A few already decided."
"It's an important event." Snipe mentioned. "Make sure they think about it properly. There are some third years that still have regrets about it."
"Yeah." Aizawa-sensei continued looking at the different forms as Snipe walked away. Both Aizawa-sensei and I paused though when we saw Iida's chosen agency.
"Hosu...?" I mumbled out loud causing Aizawa-sensei to spare me a glance.
"All we can do is hope that he won't do anything rash..." He reassured me. Sort of.
"Mhm..." I nodded in response with a frown. "I s-suppose you're right..."

"You remember the story, right?" Aizawa-sensei asked me as we went to the train station to send off his students to their internships. Since I was required to stay at his side almost 24/7 outside of school, I ended up having to go with him. Due to this, we had to come up with a story as to why I was with him to tell his students.
"Mhm," I nodded firmly. "W-we say that the school is s-still trying to convince me to join the Heroes Course and that you're training m-me in case I finally agree."
"Good," He nodded at me in confirmation. "Don't forget it."
"Y-yes, sir," I replied as we finally reached the station. The students of Class 1-A were already there and waiting as we walked up to them. Many of them cast me a curious glance while others just shrugged it off. Either way, none of them asked questions as Aizawa-sensei began talking to them.
"You all have your costumes, right?" He ignored all of the curious looks being sent my way. "Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them in public. Don't drop them or anything."
"Yessir!" Ashido yelled with a giant grin in response.
"Speak clearly!" Aizawa-sensei scolded her. "It's 'yes, sir,' Ashido."
"Yes, sir..." She pouted causing me to gain a slight smile. The people in this class are definitely energetic.
"Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships." He warned them. "Now, off with you."
"Yes, sir!"
Before he had even finished, I was already at Shouto's side. "I heard that you're going to your dad's agency..."
"Mhm," He nodded at me before reassuring me. "I may dislike him, but he is the number two hero. Besides, it will give me a chance to learn how to better use my fire."
"I see..." I was concerned, but it's his own choice. "I suppose that I can understand that."
"Anyways, what are you doing here?" He asked me, and I noticed some of the other students beginning to eavesdrop on our conversation.
"Oh, the school is still trying to convince me to join the Hero Course, so they have me training with Aizawa-sensei." I wasn't happy about lying to Shouto, but there wasn't much else to be done. "They figured that he would be the best fit due to my lack of quirk."
"I see," The other students seemed to accept my response as they started heading their own ways, but I wasn't sure whether I convinced Shouto. "Is there a reason why you don't want to join the Heroes Course?"
"Mhm," I nodded with a slight smile. "But that's a secret for now. Anyways, you better hurry up and go before your train leaves you. And remember, if Endeavor treats you like crap to just let me know. He'll regret it for a lifetime!"
"Thanks...?" Todoroki sweat dropped at the chaotic smirk that had slid onto my face before taking something out of his pocket and sliding it into my hands. "Here. Don't think I haven't noticed that you always call from a payphone." Yes, he had just handed me a brand new smartphone that even had a little cat charm hanging from it. "My number is already in it as well as Fuyumi's if you ever need to talk to her."
"E-eh, I can't accept this! It's so expensive!" I tried to give it back to him, but he refused. "It's too much!"
"Don't worry about it," He told me nonchalantly he began walking off. "It didn't cost that much anyways. I'll see you in a week."
Oh... Right...
Rich people...
"See you..." I finally waved at him in a little bit of exasperation. "And thank you, I appreciate it..."
"No problem."
"So... You didn't have a phone this entire time, huh?" I sweat dropped as I turned around to face Aizawa-sensei looking down at me.
"Ah, well, y-you know..." I scratched the back of my head sheepishly. "I never really h-had the money. A lot of m-my paycheck has always gone t-towards food with how much I-I eat."
"Of course it did..." Aizawa-sensei sighed. "You're unbelievable..."

I glared at the evil monstrosity in my hands. How was such a creation even introduced into society?!
Gah!
I can't even get the blasted phone to turn on for goodness sake!
I suppose I have no other choice...
"A-Aizawa-sensei," I got the man's attention as we walked back to his apartment. "D-do you know how to turn t-this phone on? I've b-been pressing the button on the side, but it still won't turn on."
"... You do realise that's the volume button, right?"
Oh.
