• What We Offer •

At White Oaks Riding Stables, we offer many different choices.

Track Racing
This is the training where our fastest and best stamina keeper horses are bred and raced in flat out races. They love running flat out and never want to stop. Our trainers are very careful when training racehorses as they can be very spirited and highly strung, meaning they won't give in to the human's signals. These horses need to take their choice seriously or will have to be moved to a different speciality. Jockeys must be very well trained and put the horse's safety first. Our horses have a strict diet and exercise plan and will not be moved from it. Our jockeys must be gentle but firm. We cannot risk the loss of a racehorse. They are much too valuable. Jockey training is also available. Our training tracks are 2 miles long, stretching with a few bends to complete the circle. Horses do a mile every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and 2 miles every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Saturday is a day off where they get placed in the paddock or go for a calming trail ride.

• Steeplechase
This is the training of track racing but with jumps, mostly hedges. When we see that our racehorses have a good stance and love to jump, we put them in for steeplechase training. These horses take longer to train as jumps have been added in. These horses also have a very unusual talent, usually created when we breed our finest cross country horses with our finest track horses. We work harder on these horses more than others as they need a lot of work to keep their stamina up for so long. Our jockeys must be track racing professionals or it won't work out. We hope to improve our line of steeplechase horses and put more into big races. Steeplechase jockey training in unavailable to those just beginning to become a track racer. These jockeys need to have been doing this for most of their lives. No exceptions. The track is 1 1/2 miles long with a few bends to complete the circle. Horses train the track without the jumps Monday and Thursday and train with the jumps Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Their day off is Sunday where they get placed in the paddock or go for a calming trail ride.

• Cross Country
Our cross country horses tend to be fast and stealthy. Many are natural born jumpers with a burst of speed, which is why this type of event is their speciality. We have 3 different cross country tracks to go on. First, a quarter mile. Second, half a mile. Third, a mile. It may not seem like that long, but if you think about it, galloping and jumping and dodging through trees takes a lot of effort. The first is mainly used to introduce horses into the cross country world. Or for friendly competition or just for fun. The second is a step up, getting the horses almost ready for competition. As soon as they reach the third, mile long track, they are ready to compete after a few go-overs. Cross country training for riders is available. Beware it is rather dangerous, competitive but also fun.

• Show Jumping
Our show jumpers are top notch jumpers. We have 4 different jumping rings. Two indoors, two outdoors. The horses don't need to have speed, but they need obedience and plenty of agility and stealth. Show jumping horses tend to be jumped from a very young age as they don't seem too co-operative to begin as they get older. Natural show jumpers may not begin as a jumper but over time we begin to see that's what they are meant to do. Then, we quickly change their routine. These horses need to be easily adaptable as anything can come up in a jumping contest. Some of our best show jumpers are training to head straight for the Olympics, and hopefully, with enough training and effort, we will get the chance to compete there. Jumping lessons are available as long as you know the gaits for riding. Our first indoor jumping arena is set up with three verticals, two oxers, a wall, four straights, a low jump, a medium jump and a high jump. Our second indoor jumping arena has four verticals, three oxers, two walls, a high jump and two water jumps. Our first outside arena has three water jumps, five straight, one vertical, one oxer, a high jump, a medium jump and a low jump. Our second outdoor arena is actually a paddock where jumping horses are put out to do open jumping, meaning, without a rider or human there to occupy them. There is a medium jump, high jump, low jump, two verticals and two straights.

• Dressage
Dressage is one of the finest events. The beautiful horses all dazzled up to do amazing dances, choreographed perfectly to fit the horse and rider. These horses train their whole lives to find the right routine. They work hard and not just for their riders, but for themselves. A dressage horse cannot be a true dressage horse unless their heart is with the dancing. It takes a lot of stamina due to the finest leg movements and so much precision to get it perfect for shows. The horses look gorgeous, and it actually seems as though they are dancing. And who knows, maybe they are. Dressage lessons are available for easy going, calm and firm riders. Must be able to ride through gaits and jump. Must be patient and have time if they want to be a dressage rider. We have three dressage rings. Each larger than the one before. Each one has a music player and a selection of CDs. Two are inside, one is outside. All provide the same objects, just different sized arenas and sheltered.

• Eventing
This is a very unusual choice of event. This is where both horse and trainer are trained in show jumping, cross country and dressage. They both perform together in each event over a three day period. Event training is available but it's easier just to get lessons on each one separately with the same horse. This event is stressful for both the horse and rider so it's not recommended for beginners. Need advanced riders and young, experienced horses for this event.

• Trick
For this event, we need experienced riders and bred trick riding horses. A horse cannot be used to trick ride, unless it has always been trained in that area. Trick riding lessons are available, but only to those who are experienced enough for it. Many tricks are dangerous and the riders need to be good listeners, good at following instructions and would never disrespect the instructor as this kind of event is very, very dangerous. If you don't obey the rules, you could be seriously hurt or even killed.

• Roman
If you think trick riding is too easy, Roman riding may be the thing for you. Again, lessons available but only to those experienced riders who also have a little experience in trick riding as it improves balance and confidence. Horse must be trained in Roman riding before you can even consider getting on as standing on two horses at once may be a skill, but it's also very, very dangerous. It has worse effects than trick riding does.
