• The Pastures •

Here at White Oak, we provide pastures for all kinds of horses. Each have their own pasture/field to graze in and keep them separate.

We have several different fields and we keep to those unless breeding season comes in.

If breeding season comes in, we have to swap the fields about from event type to gender and age types.

During Spring and Autumn, the horses must be separated into each field by gender meaning one field, mares. One field, stallions. One field, foals.

The fields get swapped about as there are five and during two months, only three are used.

But during Summer and Winter, all five get used for grazing and training.

The fields are ensured to be grazeable all year round. The grass is the best we've ever managed to grow in the spring and its soft and moist, the horses can't get enough of it.

The fields are different sizes suited to each speciality for the amount of space they need to run and play.

The racehorses have a longer, rectangular field for their racing. They usually like to race each other so this field is perfectly suited.

The show jumping field is a large square, usually how a jumping ring is set out. We set out a few jumps in that field for practice.

The cross country field is also a large square. A few large logs and other objects have been placed for them to practice their jumping.

The dressage field is large and circular. These horses tend to prefer this field shape and they prefer to be able to go around the full dressage ring without cutting any corners but to do that, they have to miss a move. This makes it easier for them to practice.

The trick riding and Roman riding field is also large and circular. This is because trick riding horses run around a circular ring while their riders to tricks on their backs, which is why we have put this in there for practice. Roman riding horses are content with the circular too. They feel more secure.

We tend to the fields and pastures often to keep them suitable for horse grazing.

The fields are separated into the following;

Racehorses

Show Jumping Horses

Cross Country Horses

Dressage Horses

Trick / Roman Riding Horses
