• Our Jobs •
We offer many different jobs, each suited for a different person. There are plenty available and we hope that as we build White Oaks up, those will be filled and we can even add more. Some need qualifications but others just need you to love doing what you're doing. You may have to undergo a few tests to see if you're right for this job. You may even need to be trained.
• Stablehand
Stablehands rarely ever ride unless they seriously have to or have been told to. They have a lot of jobs, so need to be very organised, hard working and reliable. There must be several of them occupying each part of the yard so spread around the workload. They don't need qualifications, just need to show care and compassion towards the horses they work with. They must be calm and patient with the tougher horses. The jobs stablehands deal with are tacking the horses up for rides and lessons, cleaning stalls, sorting feed, filling water buckets, giving awareness of calling vets of farriers if something is wrong, getting everything ready for shows and any extra jobs given to them.
• Track/Steeplechase Trainer
These trainers need to be qualified with working with horses and jockeys. These people train up jockeys and the racehorses to become a rising star. Must be here everyday, working long and hard hours. Must be prepared for exhausting work and must have patience with not only the horse, but the jockeys too. If there is anyone you don't like as a pupil or horse, suck it up and deal with it. The fate of White Oaks' racing career depends on you. There's two trainer spot available for each track.
• Show Jumping/Cross Country Trainer
These trainers need qualifications for working with children of all ages and skills and horses too. They need to be able to do the jumps themselves. After all, never make someone do something you can't. Must attend the stables everyday to train the horses and riders in which they are paid to do so. Two trainers per jumping arena. Two trainers per cross country route. Never let a rider and horse go over either course without supervision.
• Dressage Trainer
Dressage trainers must be trained in dressage themselves. They must make sure to never put a person down. The horses are the most important. Do everything to ensure the safety of both horse and rider. Never go over the training limit as in can be quite stressful for the horse and mix things up every now and then. A bored horse never performs well. Make sure you remember what days off these horses have and you must still attend the stables. Trainers must be able to help riders become perfectionists. Every detail counts.
• Eventing Trainer
These trainers must be able to ride dressage, show jumping and cross country before they even attempt training up a horse and rider to do the same. They must know all there is to know of each event. These trainers don't train you how to show jump, do cross country or dressage. They just teach you how to maintain your stamina and keep yourself and your horse going over the three days, giving you top tips to help you along the way. Must attend every day and can teach in any arena or route out of the three events.
• Trick/Romab Riding Trainer
Must, must, must be trained in trick riding themselves. As for Roman riding, must be trained in both. These trainers must be able to show the pupils how it's done and you must never put a person or horse in danger. As it's very dangerous, these workers must be qualified to deal with these things. They must never take their eyes off any rider doing a trick meaning only one may go at a time unless it's an advanced class. There are three trick rider jobs available and three Roman riding jobs available at White Oaks.
• Owner
There is only one owner at this whole ranch and that is Luna's father. He has now given most of the responsibility to Luna, meaning everyone answers to her instead. She may be young, but she grew up there and knows exactly what she's doing.
• Manager
The manager has to work out the accounts, deal with payments, deal with phone calls and emails and deal with all bills for White Oaks. Manager must be willing and attend every day. Doesn't usually ride but may go for leisurely rides if they wish.
• Riders
All riders must follow all rules or they will be forbidden to ride at White Oaks. If they commit a crime by doing something extremely dangerous, putting themselves, horses or others in danger, there will be serious consequences. If you ask to do something, we are allowed to tell you no, even if it had something to do with your own horses.
• Stud Farmer
These farmers must breed the horses we ask them to and must keep watch of stallions fighting for dominance and also when mares may foal and send the documents to the manager and owner to work through. Everything must be taken care of up at the farm, otherwise, we could end up losing many of our well bred, prized horses and this, we can't have happen to us.
