Sugawara felt like he was about to explode.

He clutched the letter in his hands, feeling his heart stutter a few times as he looked over the swirly red writing once more, Hybrid High, the one place he could be safe.

"Mum!" He yelled, racing back inside, not caring how much noise he made as he ran into the kitchen where his mother stood, nearly dropping a half-made pie in surprise.

Before she could speak, he burst out. "I got accepted!" He cried, jumping around while being as careful not to knock anything over with his now fluffed up tail, it happened sometimes.

This time, his mother did drop her pie, her hands flying up to her face as she flushed in excitement, her squirrel tail practically bristling as  she jumped with her son, both of them shouting out in excitement while holding each other tightly.

"My baby got accepted!" She gasped, grabbing onto his cheeks, "that's great!" She said, tears coming to her eyes as she pressed kisses all over his face while grinning widely.

"Can I see the letter? I have to know that it's official!" She said, smiling widely as Koushi handed her the letter, her honey colored eyes calculating it for a moment before she softly grunted and nodded.

"It's official, baby boy! You're going!" She said, clapping  her hand after she had set the letter on the counter, "now, go get backed up! I'm making Samosa's tonight!" She chirped, running back to the kitchen as Koushi dashed up the stairs, practically buzzing with excitement.

As he reached his room, he nearly tore all of his clothes from their shelves as he began to pack, already thinking of what the school would look like, something as prestigious as Hybrid High had to be something like a castle, right?

He chirped happily, petting down his tail fur as it spiked up, not wanting to get it stuck in a zipper again.

As he touched the snowy strands, it reminded him again of what he was; a White Fox, one of the only ones left in the world.

Even if he was at Hybrid High-where he knew the students could go out into public without hiding their animal appendages, there was still danger.

White Foxes often were exiled for what they could do, having odd powers that were unexplained, or simply hunted by normal humans who mistook them for werewolves, though Koushi had met werewolves, and they were probably one of the most cultured beings on the planet!

But those were extremely close friends, one that his mother kept under a constant radar to make sure they wouldn't babble about her son, going to lengths of coloring his fur, although it would almost be fully washed out by the end of the week, so she switched to homeschooling.

The upside was that she was an 8th grade reached, the downside was that Koushi had no real friends.

But he had gotten used to it, he had found the silence to be a haven, and not a curse. He liked being with his mother, his father had died when he was young anyway.

Koushi knew how he died. Suicide. He had killed himself the second he saw that Koushi was a white fox, refusing to live in a world where his son was to be killed right before his eyes.

That was the penalty with those unlucky enough to have the white fur. Koushi was lucky, almost indescribably lucky in the way that he had never gotten caught, and even if someone saw him, it had no negative affect.

They simply... Left him alone on his command.

But now, he didn't have to fear. Hybrid High was a safe spot, in it being the only place where no penalties against him could be brought. He would finally have friends, maybe even get into a relationship...

He shook that thought off, he had to get to packing, and daydreaming about love was not how you did it!

He was going to take a new step in life, he just hoped he would be prepared.

-TIME SKIP-

After two hours, one for finishing packing and somehow stuffing it all into the car, they were off, driving down the winding roads to the school.

Koushi had fallen asleep along the way, and was currently curled into a ball, his ears and tail twitching as he dreamed, looking like an angel itself had taken his body and blessed it with beauty.

"Suga? Baby, we're almost there!" His mother whispered, shaking him awake, and causing him to jump up, nearly choking himself on his seat belt.

After assuring his mother that he was fine, 'yes, my seatbelt is back on, and no, I'm not gonna do it again!' The large mansion like school came into view.

It looked over 100 meters tall, with sloping walls and five large towers, each of them having an animal painted on them, Owls for the west tower, Cats for the East, Crows for the North, and Ferrets for the South, the 5th one was the tallest, having no markings.

"Ferrets?" Koushi asked, tilting his head to the side slightly as he saw it, but simply shrugged it off, it didn't matter to much to him.

"Oh, my baby's all grown up!" Koushi flushed cheery as his mother pressed kisses all over his face.

"Remember to write! And don't leave the school grounds unattended! Mummy loves you!" She said, kissing him a final time before letting him get out, his bags already being handled by a group of alligators who nearly dropped Koushi's bags when they saw him, but quickly regrouped, all of them scrambling for the biggest bag, to try and make themselves look bigger than the other.

"Thank you!" Koushi said, smiling cheerily at them, causing the closest one, a buff man with Alligator claws that nearly turned into scales when he saw the smile, all of them quickly dismissing themselves with mutters of 'you're welcome' before leaving him be.

Koushi took a deep breath before he started forward, his tail swished nervously, but as soon as he reached the doors, another curious thing happened...
