The True Epilogue
Cristle
-------------
Time's a funny thing.
For example, I'm six, I've always been six, but I don't feel six, y'know? Ever since the same weekend has been reset over and over and over and over again, I feel...like I'm seven. But I've always been six. It's weird.
Everything dealing with resets and determination and all that junk is. It's all weird and confusing and I wish it wasn't a thing. But it is. Oh well.
I was feeling good enough to play in the forest again, but when Frisk walked up, I barely acknowledged them at this point. Sure, I let them play with me, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't go and betray me later. I knew better at this point. Guess that's the difference between six and seven.
And just because they came and went on a 'date' with Papyrus and tried to hang out with me doesn't mean they won't hurt anyone in Waterfall.
And just because they went and hang out with Undyne and helped Mettaton doesn't mean that they won't hurt anyone.
Except...they didn't. Frisk was...Frisk. The one I met at the very beginning. The one who was kind, was nice, was caring and said they would be my friend. I took a sigh of relief when they spared Mettaton and kept walking onward. They were back.
I was brought to the hall, where I waited—far more patiently than the first time—and after a while, I heard the earthquake and raced through the throne room.
Papa smiled excitedly, scooping me up and laughing. I giggled with him, before getting down and giving the biggest hug ever to Uncle Papy. "NYEH HEH HEH!", he cheered. "THE BARRIER IS BROKEN!!" "Woohoo!", I cheered with him. The tall Skeleton lifted me onto his shoulders and we had an ear-to-ear grin as we raced outside.
The sun. After the first few resets, I stopped dreaming about it. There wasn't anything that I remembered to let me dream about. It's heat and light went back to the lava in Hotland. The blue sky became the ceiling of the CORE. It had all just...escaped me.
But looking at the surface and all of it's vibrant colors, and feeling the warmth of the sun, I don't understand how I could've forgotten any of this. How I could've forgotten the feeling of being up here for the first time, breathing the fresh air.
When everyone was outside, Papy set me down, deciding aloud to fight the sun. Undyne was with him all the way, both of them grinning like crazy and running down. Papa took off after him, but I stayed behind. I wanted to talk to Frisk...alone.
I followed Mama and them down the mountain a little, before Frisk let their hand go and walked off on their own. Curious as ever, I followed.
