A Fun Day

I went over to Grillby's to join Papa. Again. Don't get me wrong, the place is nice, and so is Mr. Grillby, it just gets kinda old eating the only two things on the menu. Besides, I never liked crowded places. Makes me feel... uncomfortable.

"Papa?" I asked quietly. "what's up, angel?", he whispered in a calming voice. Pulling up my hood, I mumbled, "They're staring again." He looked over at a few of the Royal Dogs and gave a hard glare. I put my hand over his, silently asking him to not hurt anyone. I know how he gets when he's mad.

I've always known I don't fit in. Not well, anyways. A number of monsters have looked at me like I'm a five-course meal with steak and mashed potatoes when I walk through town. I guess I kind of am, in a way.

A little while later we left Grillby's, heading back home. And as we walked, they stared. Feeling the eternal eyes, I pulled a little harder on the hood, face disappearing altogether. Nearby, a group of kids were playing Monsters and Humans. I knew that they wouldn't let me join. I've already tried.

I walked straight to my room when we got home, shutting the door before plopping onto my bed. I held a hand to my chest, pulled it away, and there it was. My SOUL. And all it's swirling blue-white imperfection.

It's honestly up for debate, whether or not I count. It supposedly doesn't have the strength of a human or monster SOUL; at least, according to Ms. Auntie Alphys. But, I kinda hope that debate never ends, because the second I could be declared human... well...
I'd get to meet Mr. King Asgore.

I took a deep sigh, and put it back inside my chest. Running to my bookshelf, a humongus book with a pretty cat on the front was waiting for me. Papa insists on homeschooling me, and I really don't disagree. School is a nightmare to introverts.

Looking back, I noticed a little bit of frost collecting at the window by my bed. Wiping it off, I heard a dulled, "angel! time to go!"

"Okay!" I jumped off the bed and dashed for the door. Uncle Papy was over at Auntie Undyne's again for training. She's nice, but a bit, how do I put this... intense? But he has gotten a lot better at fighting and cooking, so to each their own, I guess.

Papa and I went to Hotland, at his station. Auntie Alphys' lab was right across the bridge of burning lava. Sometimes I like to throw things over, just to see what happens. Little things, like a piece of paper, some grass, an ugly itchy pink sweater Mettaton gave to me for a birthday. Again. (I still do not regret my decision. :))

I sat in Papa's lap, and we got to work.

"so, where are we at?" "This one. 12x*15=2456+16x" "and the answer is..." "14.97." "atta girl.", he ruffled my hair a little, giving me a giggle. A little later, I saw Frisk run past us, Undyne following. It all happened in such a blur, we just shrugged and kept working. Or, rather, napping. The laziness is inherited.

After a few hours and a lecture from Uncle Papy, we headed back home. It was pretty late, so I was shooed to get ready for bed. One of the first things I did was something I do every night. It's a bit of a ritual for me. I took a marker and wrote down something good that happened today. 'Made a new friend!', in bright red marker over April 12th. It's just a couple of weeks until Uncle Papy's birthday. I still have no idea what to get him.

After I got ready, I turned off the lights and smacked face forward into the pillow. The door opened a minute later, bringing in a bright light. I goofily hissed, trying to bury myself under the blanket. Papa gave a soft chuckle, which mixed into my fit of giggles.

"all ready?", he asked expectantly. I nodded my head excitedly as he fixed my bed. I refuse to go to sleep before he tucks me in. There have been times where I've stayed up to 2, 3 o'clock in the morning. Just ask Uncle Papyrus.

Papa hummed a soft song, so quiet I was the only one who could hear it. I pulled out my ponytail, allowing my white hair to run free. I cuddled into the bed, listening to him sing. His eyes gleaned over my calendar, freezing on the date. He was thinking, and by the furrowing of his 'eyebrows', was only getting deeper in thought.

My head poked out of the little burrito he made, eyebrow raised questioningly. "so, what do you think? of... the human?"

My brows furrowed in thought of an ever-lost response.

I knew Frisk was nice. But when I met them, I kind of felt a soft aurora come off of them. I guess it's a human thing. I, for instance, have always felt like ice on the skin. That's what everyone tells me anyways. Although Frisk had this look on their face, this stance. Maybe they were just overly confident, like a lot of the human's in Auntie Alphys's documentaries. I guess that would explain it.

Someone... okay, a lot of monsters told me to stay away from humans. Dangerous, they said. Could kill you, they said. But I don't believe that. Not really anyway. But, for the sake of promises, I'll keep an eye on them. Still...

It was strange.

"Um...", I began. Papa just ran a hand through my hair absentmindedly as I thought. It lowered down to my chin, causing me to face towards him as his teeth met my forehead. "go to sleep, okay?"

I gave a small yawn, falling into the abyss of sleep. He didn't have to tell me twice.
