Whistles in the Wind

Beneath the clouds, over the ground

Whistling in the wake before dawn

The wind roams, travelling all over town

A tree stands in his way

With no other choice, he crashes, snatching a leaf and taking him away

The leaf reluctantly left

As he followed the wind

A new home was given to him

The wind picked him up and sent him flying

Into the pink blossom tree, the leaf was excitingly glee

Nevertheless, as the days went by, the leaf could never stay

For he was green and they were pink

Never will he ever be a part of their play

So he fell once more, allowing the wind to carry him, in hope for a new day

Winter came, and the leaf gazed up

Amazed he was, for the glistening flakes flew around him

The wind sent him away, giving him a chance to be happy, at least for a day

However, the leaf could never be free

The storm caught him, whisking him away

Making him drown in the snow instead of melting like the snowflakes that flew astray

The leaf mourned in despair

Wondering if for once he will belong somewhere

Feeling lost and utterly fazed

Will he ever be saved?

The wind heard his painful cries

He did what he possibly could

Since he was the one who took the leaf from his root

The wind grasped him and accompanied him on another trip

Back to his home, he let him be

The leaf jumped to see his family on the tree

Disappointingly, the leaf no longer belonged

He was broken unlike the rest, he couldn't hold on

It is unfortunate for the leaf

For there is no home to sleep

His sad, uncontrollable grief

A new home he must seek

He fell once again, joining the wind and its hymn

Nothing more but whistles in wind,

For it's the only company he'll have with him.
