Chapter Fifteen: Daddy Demon's Little Secret
Demons, fallen angels, and humans took up different spaces in Damian's place. Most had body modifications and dark suits that caused an eerie backstreet casino vibe. It was as if we were going into the back room and we weren't going to make it back out alive. Couches and whores took up the rest of the free space. And might I say, as I was wheeled past them all I rated each lingerie in my head from least to most favorite.
One wore a white fluffy baby doll with angel wings. Now that I could see Evangeline in. . . Fuck! Now I was picturing her perfect breasts cupped in the fluffy, ribbed corset, almost falling out, but just the perfect amount to touch.
"You think she's pretty, don't you?" Evangeline asked, clear jealousy in her voice as she followed my line of sight to the whore that straddled a tall, muscular demon that seemed to look very similar to Damian.
"I mean. . ." No I couldn't tell her what was in my head. It was wrong of me to think of her that way. Unless she sought it herself I wouldn't push her toward it. But this jealousy, that was new. "She is pretty hot I mean have you seen her tits?"
Redness flushed Evangeline's face, going all the way up to the tips of her ears. "Well. She's a whore!"
Everyone in the room paused a moment and looked over at her, clear distaste at her use of the word.
"Which is a perfectly good profession!" I stated quite loudly. "Carry on! Enjoy!"
A tall brunette with her hair tied back in braids came up beside Evangeline and crossed her arms over her red-laced teddy. "No, I want to hear it. Tell me what you really think of us, doll." She poked Evangeline in the chest, leaving her finger there to antagonize her.
Fury built up inside of me. I grabbed the wheels of my wheelchair and pushed it backwards to run over her bare foot.
"Ow! Bitch! Just cause you're a cripple doesn't mean I can't make you worse," the whore snarled.
Pain shot through my head when her fingers entangled in my hair. "I can smell the angel on you. You don't belong here."
I grabbed the wrist of her hand that was in my hair. "Oh love, you're playing with the wrong angel." Leaning back, I used my momentum when I went forward to pull her over my shoulder. Her clothes snagged on my wings, forcing my momentum against me.
The chair went backwards bringing me, Evangeline, and the whore all down with it. Pain that made my vision spin ripped across my back when I landed on my wings, pulling at the wound in my back. I screamed. The world went red.
I could hear voices around me but none of them were distinguishable. Something stabbed through the skin of my back. Ripping through the bandages and causing someone else's screams to match mine.
Then everything went dark.
..... ...... ..... ...... ...... ......
"Do you have any idea how rare this is?" Damian's voice faded in through the fog and pain swirling around my head. "Your sister isn't just an angel, she's a warrior angel. Can you imagine what her body could do on the forefront against the angel killings? Having something like her on our side could change the tide. It would put demons above the angels, the way it should be."
Dawn laughed sharply. "You're not cutting out her spine and selling it for body mods. Our deal was a few feathers, and you look into her origins. That's it."
"What do you mean cutting out her spine? Why would you ever do that to anyone?" Evangeline asked, anger laced into every word. "What's wrong with you?"
"I have a lot of questions," Seth pipped in. "But I don't think I really want to know the answers."
"Body modifications come from somewhere. Think of it as a donation, of sorts. Demon warriors are born with horns, claws, and swords in their arms." Damian let out a long sigh. "When they get killed, they are harvested for their additions. But see, things like that are accessible, cause angel warriors are stronger, demons are constantly dying no matter what we do. But Amaya. . . Amaya is one of those angels. Every bone in her body is a perfectly crafted weapon that can be used against demons, angels, humans, everyone!"
"Don't forget she's hell's princess. If this were to get out—" Dawn whispered, his voice low and near me.
"Oh it won't, your secret is safe with me, if you alter the deal of course," Damian said, his words sly, rolling off the tongue like the snake he was. "I want a limb. The bone in one limb would be enough to arm a small army."
"No," I whispered hoarsely. Barely able to find my words. "Let daddy get upset. You aren't getting a piece of me. The deal was a few feathers that's it." My vision finally came into focus and I found myself on a comfortable bed with pillows beneath me as I laid on my stomach, my wings held above me in some sort of structure that relieved the weight they had placed upon me since their arrival.
Damian squatted down at the foot of the bed and grabbed my chin roughly. "You're in my house, princess, you have no privilege here."
I growled, readying my next comeback, when his hand detached from his arm and blood sprayed me in the face.
Damian screamed as Evangeline kicked him in the chest, pinning him with one foot. She put her sword to his throat, stepping between his legs with her heels inches from crushing his nards. "Say that again. Demon." Darkness spread from her sword up her fingertips, until it reached her shoulder and two pitch black wings spread out behind her. The entire room warped into pitch black around her, the only thing left that I could see was the glowing heart that beat in her chest.
"You brought a fucken nephilim! Dawn!" Damian screamed. "Leave before she brings all of heaven down upon this place. That dark energy is going to bring the warrior angels flocking. Go! Get out of here! Now! The deal is off!"
My wings fell down, ripping at my spine. When I was guided back to my chair I could feel something perturbing from my skin, something spiky and not pleasant. "What's happening to me?"
Dawn grabbed my hand. "I don't know, but we'll figure it out. For now, our best thing to do is get out of here before Damian changes his mind and puts all of his people on us. Luckily Evangeline grants us a scary dog privilege. Please never get involved with her. I don't want to die."
"Fuck you," I spat, but I said nothing more, I didn't need him knowing what was going on in my head. Glancing in Evangeline's direction, I took in her stature, towering in the darkness, and by god I had never been so turned on in my life. She could destroy this whole place, destroy me, and here she was, lording her power over a disgusting excuse for a demon that wanted to pry me apart. Hot.
Seth quickly wheeled me out as Evangeline released Damian and made a path of darkness for us to follow. Everyone parted to let her go, staring on in horror. No one dared to breathe a word, for fear that they would be the next to lose a piece.
Once we were outside the building Evangeline's wings went back into her body and the shadows disappeared. "Wow, that was exhausting. I'm hungry."
I blinked a few times. "You just cut off a demons hand. And the first thing you say after leaving is, 'I'm hungry'?"
"Not used to gore, Amaya? I thought demons liked it," Evangeline declared as she wiped off her sword on her shirt sleeve.
"That's unsanitary."
"Do you have enough paper towels for me to clean it anywhere else? Dried blood is hard to get off. I don't want to wait till I can visit a bathroom to spend the rest of the night scrubbing dried blood off my sword."
Dawn shrugged when I glanced over at him for support. "She does have a point, dried blood is hard to get off of instruments. As a doctor I should know."
I groaned. "Please tell me you properly sanitize your instruments and don't just wipe them off on your clothes. That's nasty, bro."
"Excuse you, I sanitize them. . . Sometimes."
Seth gagged. "Okay, if I'm dying let me die, I don't need some sort of blood disease cause you'll too lazy to clean your shit. That gives people A.I.D.S. Okay. And yet, you can't stand STD's wow. Just wow."
Dawn took the keys out of his pocket and threw them at Seth's head. "Catch."
"Ow! Bitch! You were trying to hit me!" Seth cried as he rubbed his head and retrieved the keys from the ground. "I don't know why I tolerate you all. I could just leave you know."
"But you won't, your life is so boring you need a little adventure," Evangeline stated before opening the door that led back to our car and out of the alleyway. "That's why I stay and you know the fact that everyone probably wants me dead now. Might as well spend my remaining days with demons, angels, and humans who treat me like more than a body to be thrown at others."
We all got into the car, Seth at the wheel, Evangeline in the passenger seat, and Dawn in the back using hopefully clean instruments to stitch me back up for the thousandth time.
"Don't drive till I'm done, I don't trust you to be stead enough," Dawn said as he took out another shiny tool that I refused to look at.
I squeezed my eyes shut and gripped the door handle tightly. It was the only thing in front of me. I needed to hold onto something. Burning hot pain sizzled on my back from whatever he had put on it. Who knows what it was. Stinging pain ripped through my hand, warm liquid oozing down my palm as a loud, pop sounded. I opened my eyes, and blinked a few times to ensure I wasn't hallucinating. A knife blade stabbed through my palm and sliced the door handle in half. I opened my hand, letting the plastic fall to the floor with a silent thud. When I relaxed my hand, the dagger slid back into my palm, leaving gaping flesh behind that showcased my bones. Each one was sharp, pointed, like a razor's edge.
Closing my hand again, I could feel the bones move beneath my skin, piercing through it and jutting out beneath my fingers. What the actual fuck. Was I like a living knife block just waiting to get too tense and stab everything in sight? Did this mean I couldn't fist women anymore? Would I get too into it and make them bleed out from internal injuries. This was so unfair. I didn't ask for this! "Dawn. My bones keep stabbing me."
"I know that's why I'm putting them back in," he replied as he shoved at my back.
"My hand is doing it too."
"God, we need to get you some suppressants, this is ridiculous," Dawn growled. "I don't want to spend all day shoving your bones back into your body!"
A small buzzing sound started going off. I looked back at Dawn, he looked at me eyes wide. Who found our burn phone numbers? That just wasn't possible, was it? Unless it was—-
"Hi dad!" Dawn said, bloody hands wrapped around the phone and drinking black and red. "Amaya? Yeah, she's right here." He passed the phone forward.
"Hey dad, what's up?" I said, forcing a smile in hopes that it would showcase in my voice. That really wasn't what I wanted to do right now. I wanted to grill him. I wanted to know why he stole me, who I was, why I was changing now and didn't before. "Dad?"
"I was worried about you. I tried calling your last number for the last few days and you didn't answer. I had to put Reggie on the search for burn phones. Why are you using burn phones? Are you in trouble? Who's Evangeline and Seth? Why are you wandering around with humans?" His voice held concern and severe anxiety. Almost like he knew something was amiss. I couldn't let him know. Not until I found my answers.
"Me and Dawn are just enjoying some fun time with human guides. You know, it's nice to be able to blend in better with the locals." I let out a sigh. "One of my girls found my phone and stole it. Had to get a new one. Evangeline and Seth are twins. Such odd names, but such good guides."
"I want you to come home. It's not safe for you to be there anymore," dad said quietly. "We have some things we need to talk about and I want to talk demon to demon."
"Ha!" Demon to demon, that was funny. So funny. Was he serious right now?
"What's so funny?"
"You thinking it's not safe. We're fine. Everything is fine."
"I felt the nephilim energy in the alley sector. You're not near there, are you?" He asked, his voice curt, no nonsense and all sense of concern completely gone and replaced with his naturally formalities and demands. "You need to leave earth and come home. This isn't an option. If you don't come back, I'm going to come and get you myself."
"Make me." I hung up the phone and tossed it to Dawn.
Catching it in his hand he wiped it off slightly on his shirt and then tucked it back into his pocket. "What'd he want?"
"He felt it when Evangeline went nephilim. He wants us to come home. We need to get out of here before he comes looking for her," I stated quietly. "I doubt he'd welcome her with open arms. We need a place to hide where he's not going to find this until we can figure this whole mess out. I don't want him hurting her or me."
"I know just the place. But it does mean I'm going to need to go in first, after all, I owe my ex a favor," Dawn said quietly as he finished shoving the bones back into my back. "Get out of here and go straight Sethy. We're going to be driving quite awhile so we should probably pick up food."
I laid my head down on the seat and closed my eyes. "Let's get McDonald's. I am craving some fries so bad."
"What's a fry?" Evangeline asked, her voice curious and quiet.
My eyes popped open and I looked over at her. "You don't know what a fry is! What kind of travesty is this heaven diet? Thank god I was kidnapped and shipped off. Imagine, I could be force fed asparagus right now, with no butter cause calories. Just cooked in nothing but water asparagus, nasty."
Twirling her white blonde hair around her finger, Evangeline looked down. "I like asparagus."
"Babe, that's only cause you haven't had fries."
