A Mortal Flawed
~ * ~
Behind the cover of darkness hiding and waiting,
An overwhelming shadow your vision is negating.
Blindfold of the night placed over your dewy eyes,
Laying down to wait it out until the morning light rise.
Your old friend the night, a vault painted black and white,
It spoke back with its silence and stars listened in delight,
Too soon the blissful blue was slowly sinking out of sight,
Imposing darkness, broken by the rays of light.
Walking round in a daze with pain and endless sorrow,
The desperation of a life spent as a forgotten shadow.
When all was offered and taken from your open hand,
Yet no one remembered to hold you or try to understand.
A mortal flawed and suffering under the veil of ignorance,
Falling apart and dimming a life that holds no significance,
Believing lies to calm a hungry heart, tracing every scar,
Unable to feel complete or accepted for who you are.
Anxiety sinks deep revealing a future dark and bleak,
Walls soaked with indifference turns your heart weak,
Struggling so hard to voice your ongoing life’s ache,
But all it falls on empty ears for no one is awake.
You choose to be really quiet instead of hate or resent,
Talking is futile when none can hear you, they just pretend.
Terrified of what you've become, a puppet in a play,
You're fading day by day with only wish to run away.
Shards piercing deeper into the now bleeding heart,
Thorne pieces of a soul long forgotten, falling apart.
Don't have to hide anymore, albeit a ghost to all of them,
You're better off alone when all they do is punish and condemn.
Sleepless night rises with newfound freedom on wings of steel,
Cold and beautiful like snow, a soul in pain that cannot feel.
When you close your eyes, quiet skies are everywhere,
But when you're awake, the calm it's never there.
Your dream is flying into the lonely sky and silent blue,
The only way out you see is falling and want it to be true.
Breaking your trust and unwilling to make any amends,
They always ask for 'second chances' that never ends...
Where is the reason to assume that all you do is wrong,
Finding fault for you to wish that you’ve never been born?
Never looking back with regret at what we have lost,
Always better to cherish that which is left, at any cost.
When you have a 'why' for a reason to go on living,
For sure, you can bear almost any 'how' and keep on giving.
We are imperfectly made and trying our very best,
Digging for courage and putting the fear to rest.
We might not see it yet, the map that our road will lead,
But don't let others tell your story, use your voice instead.
Remove all chains and once shattered you've been freed,
Be a river untamed my dear, not a reservoir they'll bleed.
