Nothing Matters
As a kid,
You dreamt of bubblegum hair
And of exploring a superhero's lair.
There were no cap on your fun,
No quota to be met,
And you didn't have a single regret.
Except that maybe you had a slow run.
But that didn't matter to you.
No, it didn't matter to you.
As a teen,
You dyed your hair a rebellious blue hue,
And wanted to discover what makes you, you.
But the boys in park didn't care.
You forgot about your quest
And let it go to rest.
After all, to them, you were just another body to bare.
But that didn't matter to you.
No, it really didn't matter to you.
As an adult,
You followed the standard route.
You put on a dress and followed in suit.
You had quotas and deadlines to meet.
There were documents to be filed.
And the pain in your chest was just mild.
So you carried right on with your spread sheet and ignored your rapid heartbeat.
Because that didn't matter to you.
No, that didn't matter to you.
Not even in the middle of your life,
You're heart stopped,
And onto the floor, your head dropped.
Stress and overworking, they say was the cause.
You ignored the pain and plowed right through.
"No pain, no gain", oh how you'd rue.
So you left, you and your flaws.
For it didn't matter to you.
No, that didn't matter to you.
You never discovered who you were
And your life went by in a blur.
But that didn't matter to you.
No, nothing matters to you.

Here is the synopsis:
Dear Hayden, I saw you today.
Laura, I saw you today.
Just across the hallway, you were standing there with your backpack on, chatting with your friends. I looked down, embarrassed.
You were just across the hall. You were so close to me. Then, you looked down, embarrassed. A light blush came over your cheeks. It was so cute. Too bad you'd never like me.
It's a shame that you'll never like me.
--------
