CHAPTER 9

Author's Pov:

It was already Saturday. Soomin stood infront of her closet, confused. Even if it was for once, she didn't wanted to have a bad impression on his parents.

Junhui had messaged few minutes that he might be a bit late. "Eomma, are you going somewhere?", Eunsoo asked. Soomin hummed. "Can I come too?", her eyes stared at Soomin.

"You can't, Eunsoo. I don't want to involve you in this", Soomin murmured. Eunsoo pouted, "So you will be back late again?". Soomin nodded.

As they talked, the bell rang. "I'll do it", Eunsoo ran off. Soomin took the dress she finally decided to wear. "Junhui Uncle", Eunsoo shouted seeing Junhui at her door step. Soomin frowned going out.

Junhui smiled sheepishly as their eyes met. "Uh, I'm too early but I wanted to play with Eunsoo so...", his voice trailed off. "No it's fine. But you need to wait though. I'm still not ready".

Junhui gave a thumbs up, "Take your time". Soomin smiled going back to her room. Eunsoo looked at Junhui, "Are you going out with Eomma?". Junhui nodded.

Her eyes immediately sparkled, "Can I come too, please?". Junhui thought for a second before nodding, "Yes you can". Eunsoo jumped wrapping her hands around his neck, "Thank you. I'll be back in few minutes".

Saying this she ran to her room, leaving Junhui alone in the living room until Soojin decided to make her entry.

"Uh, hello", she awkwardly said. Junhui got up, "Hi". Soojin sat infront of him. There was purely an awkward silence. "I'm Soojin, Soomin's one and only dear sister", she introduced herself, "Last time you came, I thought I was hallucinating".

Junhui chuckled. Soojin looked at him, "Woah, you look totally different in real life".

"Is it a compliment?", Junhui asked.

"Of course it is. Seeing you on screen and seeing you in real life is totally different. You just look so good in both", Soojin spoke.

Junhui gave a shy smile, "Thank you". Soojin smiled, "Soomin told me everything. I will keep it a secret, I promise".

"I'm ready", Eunsoo came back wearing her favorite dress. "Where are you going now?", Soojin asked.

"I'm going to with Junhui uncle and Eomma", she grinned. Soojin frowned looking at Junhui who nodded in return, "Fine then".

The three waited for Soomin. "Did I take too much of time?", Soomin asked. Junhui shook his head, "Nah". Soomin gave a small smile but frowned seeing Eunsoo all dressed.

"She is coming with us, it's fine right?", Junhui asked. Soomin looked at Eunsoo who was showing her puppy eyes. "Please, Eomma", Eunsoo murmured.

Soomin sighed, "Okay, you can come with us". Eunsoo jumped giving Soomin a wide grin.

On their way, Eunsoo kept talking to Junhui who kept listening to her. He glanced at Soomin who was lost in her thoughts.

"We are here", Junhui said glancing at her once again. "Woah", Eunsoo murmured looking at the big apartment.

As the elevator door opened, they stepped out and walked to the door which was swung open.

"Come in", Junhui said going inside to see his mother arranging the dining table. He quietly walked up to her and hugged her. His mother gasped, giving a playful slap on his arm, "You scared me, Junhui", she exclaimed, laughing.

"Is she here?", His mother asked. Junhui nodded, "There is someone else too". His mother frowned, "Who?". Junhui whispered, "Her daughter".

Meanwhile, Soomin and Eunsoo still stood by the door, still unsure. Junhui's mother noticed them, her face lit up, "Come in, why are you still standing there?".

As they entered, Junhui stood beside them. "She is Soomin and her daughter Eunsoo", Junhui introduced them. His mother patted Eunsoo's head, "Come in".

As they entered, Junhui's father walked out his room, looking at two new figures. "Honey, meet Soomin and her daughter, Eunsoo", his wife said.

A wide grin appeared on his face when his eyes met Eunsoo's. "Oh my, come here. I've got something for you", he said walking towards the fridge and taking out some chocolates, "Here you go".

Eunsoo glanced at Soomin before taking the chocolates and saying thank you. He nodded patting her head.

As the dinner continued, Mr. Moon and Eunsoo kept talking, her cheerful laughter lightening up the mood. Soomin too started feeling comfortable.

After the meal, Eunsoo and Mr. Moon went to living room while  Junhui just followed them, leaving Mrs. Moon and Soomin alone.

"It didn't feel like a lie", Mrs. Moon started. Soomin looked at her. "I know the truth, Soomin", Mrs. Moon softly said, "Thank you for helping us. I understand it is wrong, I was angry on Jun at first but seeing my husband so happy, made my anger melt away".

Soomin smiled not knowing what to say. Mrs. Moon chuckled, "I'll tell him the truth soon but still you can visit us, anytime you want".

"It's just two of us most of time in the house. But today because of Eunsoo, this house felt so lively after a long time", Mrs. Moon continued while Soomin listened her.

"Our Junhui is always busy with one or the other thing. Yerin used to visit us often bringing some kind of warmth with her", Mrs. Moon said with a smile. "Yerin?", Soomin asked with a hesitation.

"Yes", Mrs. Moon said, her expression softened, "She was a really good friend of Junhui, a really important person in his life. We lost her in an accident. It's been hard for him to move on".

Soomin nodded, "I understand how to feels losing someone important and close to you".

Mrs. Moon glanced at Soomin, she wanted to tell the real relationship between Yerin and Junhui but decided not to. "You are talking about your husband, aren't you?", Mrs. Moon asked holding her hands.

Soomim nodded, "It's difficult sometimes when you hold a lot of memories with them. It's difficult to move on".

"Have you moved on?", Mrs. Moon asked, hesitantly. Soomin shrugged, "I don't know. I remember him almost everyday but somewhere I know, he will never be back.  At first it was difficult but I've just accepted this reality. I know he will never come back".

"Did he leave you?", Mrs. Moon asked, indirectly asking about divorce. Soomim shook her head, "He died in an accident too".

"Oh", Mrs. Moon said. Their conversation continued, the atmosphere growing warmer as they shared more stories. Soomin felt a strange comfort in Mrs. Moon's presence, a sense of understanding that made her feel less alone.

"Thank you for sharing that with me", Soomin said softly. "It's been a while since I talked about him with someone who understands. I talk to my sister whenever needed but having someone to talk to older than me feels good".

Mrs. Moon smiled warmly. "You are always welcome here, Soomin. And Eunsoo too. You can talk to me whenever you want".

In living room, Junhui saw Eunsoo and his father playing. Seeing his father this happy, made him smile. He turned to look at Soomin and his mother who were deep in a conversation.

As they prepared to leave, Mr. Moon gave another chocolate to her, "Come to me whenever you miss me, okay? You are always welcome here". Eunsoo giggled, "Yes, Grandpa".

Soomin and Junhui exchanged a glance, both feeling a pang of guilt for the deception but also relief that the evening had gone well. They said their goodbyes and stepped out into the night.

"I hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you", Junhui said as they walked towards his car. Soomin shook her head. "No, it was actually nice. Your parents are lovely people".

Junhui smiled, "Thank you for doing this. It meant a lot to them, especially my father".

As they drove back, Eunsoo fell asleep in the backseat, exhausted from the excitement of the evening. Junhui glanced at Soomin, "What was my Eomma talking to you?", striking up a conversation.

"Umm, just random talks", Soomin said. Junhui chuckled, "My stories? Eomma likes to tell my stories to anyone she meets".

Soomin smiled, "Don't every mother do that?". Junhui nodded, "Maybe, do you tell Eunsoo's stories?". Soomin nodded, "Sometimes".

"Tell me some too", Junhui said. Soomin looked at him, "Eunsoo is almost like her father. She is just like him, the only thing she inherits from me is facial features".

"Eunsoo was one and half years old, he had a habit of playing peek a boo with her every evening. He'd hid behind sofa and everytime he popped up, Eunsoo giggled. One day, she crawled behind the sofa, maybe trying to mimic him but ended up falling asleep. We had no idea about it, we panicked searching for her. Seeing Jinhyuk panic, made me panic too", Soomin chuckled.

"Our eyes landed on the little figure snuggled behind the sofa. Jinhyuk immediately picked her up, holding her close. Even in sleep, she was smiling", she continued.

Junhui saw the pure happiness in her eyes, while she spoke about some stories of Eunsoo and her husband, Jinhyuk.
