Hoseok yawns as Jimin walks into the lab. Vivian jolts awake at the sound of the door, and she groans and wipes some saliva from the corner of her lips.

"Long night?" Jimin asks, laughing as he hands them coffees. "Expect a lot of them since everyone else abandoned us."

Hoseok stretches before taking a gulp of the too-hot coffee. "Assholes."

"We got this," Vivian says through a yawn. "But I need to go home and shower. Maybe take a nap too."

"Go," Hoseok nods. "We have a well-rested man right in front of us who is happy to watch over Dahlia while we freshen up, right?"

Jimin raises an eyebrow. "I wouldn't say I'm happy about it, but whatever makes you feel better."

Hoseok stands and turns to Dahlia, who is sitting and staring down at her purple fingertips.

"Have you slept at all?" he asks in a gentle voice, and her gaze slowly shifts to him as she shakes her head.

"You should try to get some rest," he says, rubbing his hand on her shoulder. "You've been through a lot. Your body could use some sleep."

"I don't sleep," she says, and Hoseok frowns, his eyes flickering over to Jimin, who looks uncomfortable.

"You haven't slept at all?" Jimin asks, mindlessly reaching for a clipboard to jot it down.

She ignores him.

"Answer him, Dahlia," Hoseok coaxes. "Please. I want to know the answer too."

Dahlia slowly turns her dark gaze to Jimin, who unconsciously takes a step back as a smile stretches across her lips. "No. I haven't."

Hoseok sighs, rubbing the back of his neck. "I can give you something to help you sleep if you want."

Dahlia shakes her head slowly, her gaze staying locked on Jimin as Vivian slips out of the room, her purse clutched tightly in her shaking fingertips.

"I'm not tired."

Hoseok shares a secret glance with Jimin, tilting his head to the door as Jimin nods.

"I'm going to run home really quick to shower and get some breakfast. Are you hungry at all? Thirsty?" Hoseok asks, and Dahlia's eyes shift to his.

"No."

Hoseok nods as he starts to walk backwards. "Jimin will be right back. He's going to walk me to the front. Are you okay to be by yourself for a second?"

"I'd rather be alone than be with anyone else but you, Hoseok. You know that," she says in a quiet tone.

Hoseok sighs. "I'll be back in an hour."

"Promise?" she asks, perking up as she holds up her pinky.

"Promise," he says, walking back to lock his pinky with hers.

After a gentle squeeze, Dahlia lets her hand fall back to her lap, her attention turning back to playing with her fingers as Jimin and Hoseok walk out of the room.

"What the fuck?" Jimin whispers, his eyes wide. "Is she possessed or something?"

"Jimin," Hoseok sighs, his eyes looking at the ceiling. "Not you too. Why would you expect her to be normal after coming back from the dead? She's going to be different, obviously."

"She's not different," Jimin shakes his head. "She's downright creepy. Did you not see the looks she was giving me? I almost pissed myself. Vivian literally snuck out of the room because she was so uncomfortable."

"Please don't give up on me too," Hoseok says, his eyes moving to bore into Jimin's. "Please."

"Of course not," Jimin says, sighing. "I just hope you're not being blinded by the fact that she's your prized experiment. Just keep in mind that she can always turn into a failure - even in ways you wouldn't expect."

"How do you mean?" Hoseok asks.

Jimin purses his lips. "What if her soul was damaged, Hoseok? We can clearly see her body is different... but what if her soul has been changed too? Hoseok, something is off. You can't deny it. I know you sense it too."

Hoseok rolls his eyes. "That's overdramatic."

"Maybe," Jimin says. "But what if that thing in there isn't even human anymore after everything we put it through?"

Hoseok stays silent.
