"Absolutely fucking not," Jin says, scowling at Hoseok as the two stand in Jin's office.
"Jin, please," Hoseok says. "Everyone else I've asked has plans."
"So you're using me as a last resort so you can go home and fuck your wife," Jin says, scowling deeper. "That makes me want to say no even more."
"I can't stay here another night," Hoseok says. "Sara's going to be so hurt if I keep blowing her off, but I don't want to leave Dahlia here alone all night. Please? I'll owe you."
Jin hums, sticking his tongue into the side of his cheek as he glares at Hoseok. "Tempting. I like the idea of you owing me a favor."
Hoseok raises his eyebrows and smiles at him. "Don't overthink this. Just say yes."
"Ah, fuck," Jin rolls his eyes. "Fine."
Hoseok lets out a heavy breath. "Thank you. All you need to do is sit in the lab with her and watch her vitals. She's not slept at all since she gained consciousness, so she'll probably sleep through the night anyway."
"You're going to regret owing me a favor," Jin says with a grin. "Just to let you know in case you want to change your mind."
Hoseok's shoulders drop. "Trust me. I wish I didn't have to leave, but Sara deserves better than that."
"Yeah," Jin says, brushing past Hoseok and making sure his shoulder bumps with his. "She definitely deserves better."
Hoseok stares at the wall as Jin leaves the office, his heart plummeting to his stomach.
After taking a few breaths to push away the guilt, he turns on his heel and follows Jin into the lab.
Dahlia's eyes light up as Hoseok walks in, though she had been frowning when she saw Jin come in just before.
Jin glares at her before turning his attention to Hoseok.
"I don't need you to hover. I'm not an idiot," Jin says.
"I need to talk to Dahlia," he says, not making eye contact with Jin as he walks up to the bed Dahlia is sitting on.
"You were gone a long time," Dahlia says as she turns her full attention to Hoseok.
"I needed to do some things," Hoseok says, smiling as he sits on the edge of her bed. "I need to go home, so Jin is going to take care of you until tomorrow morning."
Dahlia's bloodshot eyes dart to Jin before looking back at Hoseok. Her darkened fingertips reach to wrap around his wrist. "I don't like him."
"I don't like you either," Jin says.
Hoseok sighs, glaring at his colleague before turning his gaze to Dahlia, his eyes instantly softening. "I have a wife back home that I need to spend some time with. But I promise that after tonight, I'll stay here as long as you want me to. Deal?"
Hoseok holds up his pinky.
Dahlia's purple-tinged lips purse, her eyes boring into Jin's as she raises her pinky to intertwine with Hoseok's. "Deal."
"I'll see you both tomorrow," Hoseok says, pulling away and standing. "After that, I'm all yours."
"Sure," Dahlia says, a smile plastered on her face that doesn't reach her eyes.
Hoseok sends one more warning glare in Jin's direction before heading out the door, hearing it slide shut behind him as he walks away.
