Chapter 12
Namaste
Chapter 12
“Can we please get a milkshake and a pastry?” He voiced out , blinking his eyes rapidly. Nitara chuckled, “ofcourse.” She found it impossible to say ‘No’ to Dhruv.
As the auto stopped near a cozy little café, Nitara helped Dhruv climb out, holding his hand as they walked in.
“Bhabhi, this place looks so nice!” Dhruv said, his eyes sparkling with excitement as they found a table near the window.
Nitara smiled, setting her purse down. “You and your sweet tooth, Dhruv. You really can’t resist, can you?”
“Nope! Chocolate is my weakness,” Dhruv said with a cheeky grin, already scanning the menu kept on the table.
A waitress approached them with a notepad. “Good evening, ma’am. What would you like to order?”
Dhruv perked up, speaking quickly. “One chocolate milkshake, with extra chocolate, please. And a vanilla ice cream on the side.”
The waitress smiled at his enthusiasm and jotted it down. “Anything else?”
“Hmm,” Dhruv tilted his head, tapping his chin dramatically. “Oh, and a coffee pastry too!”
Nitara chuckled, shaking her head. “He’s ordering for both of us, apparently,” she said to the waitress.
The waitress laughed softly. “Got it. And for you, ma’am?”
“I’ll just have a cappuccino, please,” Nitara said with a polite smile.
As the waitress left, Nitara looked at Dhruv with a playful smirk. “You’re really spoiling yourself today, huh?”
“It’s not every day I get to hang out with my Bhabhi-Maa,” Dhruv said, leaning back in his chair like a little boss.
Nitara reached over and ruffled his hair. “You’re such a charmer, aren’t you?”
Dhruv grinned mischievously. “I learned it from Bhaiya!”
Nitara laughed, feeling her heart fill with warmth. Moments like these made all the challenges in life seem so small.
Nitara’s smile faded as she noticed a group of college girls sitting a few tables away, giggling uncontrollably. She could hear snippets of their conversation.
“Oh my god, he’s so handsome!” one girl whispered, her eyes glued to someone across the room.
“Seriously, he looks like a movie star,” another girl said, pulling out her phone. “I’m taking a picture. He’s too gorgeous not to.”
“Stop drooling, Priya,” one of them teased, nudging her friend. “If you like him so much, go get his number.”
Nitara followed their gaze, her curiosity piqued. She turned her head, and her eyes widened in disbelief. Standing there with his signature polite smile, taking a tray of drinks to another table, was none other than her husband.
Her jaw dropped as she watched Anubhav gracefully maneuver around the café, effortlessly charming the patrons with his quiet demeanor. One of the girls sighed dreamily. “I swear, he’s the most handsome guy I’ve ever seen.”
“Do you think he’s single?” another asked, biting her lip.
“Maybe,” Priya said. “Or even if he isn’t, who cares? He’s just… wow. Look at those eyes!”
Nitara felt a surge of heat rise to her cheeks. She clenched her fists under the table, watching as Anubhav approached their table with his notebook in hand.
“Hi,” Priya said, her voice suddenly sweet and flirtatious. “Can we get three caramel frappes, please?”
“And your number,” another girl muttered under her breath, giggling.
Anubhav smiled politely, jotting down their order, completely unaware of their swooning. Nitara’s nostrils flared as she continued to watch.
“Bhabhi, are you okay?” Dhruv asked, his voice breaking through her jealous haze.
“I’m fine,” she said tightly, not taking her eyes off the scene.
One of the girls whispered loudly, “He’s even more handsome up close. Do you think he’ll notice us?”
“Only one way to find out,” Priya said, adjusting her hair.
Nitara slammed her hand on the table, startling Dhruv. “Stay here. I’ll be right back,” she said, her voice laced with determination.
She stood up and walked toward Anubhav just as he was turning to leave the girls’ table. He spotted her and froze, his eyes widening slightly.
“Anubhav ji,” she said sweetly but loud enough for the girls to hear. “You’re working so hard today, aren’t you?”
The girls exchanged confused looks as Nitara boldly stepped closer, linking her arm with his. She smiled up at him and then turned to the girls. “By the way, thank you for complimenting my husband. He is quite handsome, isn’t he?”
Priya’s face turned crimson, and the other girls looked mortified.
“H-husband?” Priya stammered.
“Yes,” Nitara said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “And those beautiful eyes you were admiring? They belong to me.”
Anubhav looked at her with a mix of amusement and shock, his cheeks slightly pink.
“Shall we, Anubhav ji?” Nitara said, tugging at his arm.
Anubhav nodded, following her lead as she guided him toward a quieter corner of the café. As they walked away, she could hear the girls muttering awkwardly behind them.
When they reached the corner, Anubhav pulled out his phone and typed, *You didn’t have to do that.*
Nitara read it and glared at him playfully. “Oh, yes, I did. I wasn’t about to let those girls drool over you like that.”
He smiled, shaking his head, and typed again, *Jealous much?*
“Yes,” she admitted without hesitation, crossing her arms. “You’re mine, Anubhav Gupta. And I won’t share you with anyone.”
Anubhav chuckled silently, pulling her into a quick hug before heading back to work. Nitara returned to her table, feeling triumphant. Dhruv looked at her curiously.
“Bhabhi, why are you smiling like that?”
“Because I just reminded someone who your brother belongs to,” she said with a satisfied smirk, ruffling his hair.
