A night to remember
It was a typical Friday evening when you found yourself at Jungkook’s house, a routine you both had kept since middle school. Your parents had left town for a weekend trip, and you couldn't stay alone at home, so your dad suggested you spend the night at Jungkook’s. It wasn’t unusual; you and Jungkook had been best friends for years, practically inseparable.
Jungkook, now 19, was still the same playful, competitive guy you had grown up with. You, at 18, were right there beside him, matching his energy in every way. Tonight, you were engaged in a heated car race on his new PS5. The room buzzed with tension as both of you focused intensely on the game.
“It’s 12 a.m. now; we should sleep,” Jungkook muttered, eyes glued to the screen.
“Yeah, we’ll sleep. But only when this match finishes. I’m sure I’ll win,” you chuckled, not taking your eyes off the race.
Jungkook smirked, “Let me correct you—*I’m* the one who’s going to win.”
“We’ll see,” you shot back, your competitive spirit flaring.
Minutes later, the race ended with Jungkook’s car crossing the finish line first. He threw his arms up in victory, a cocky grin plastered on his face. “Tch, I told you I was gonna win,” he teased, sticking out his tongue.
“Shut up! You’re just too good at this game. Let’s see if you win the next match,” you retorted, playfully hitting his shoulder with a pout.
Jungkook chuckled at your reaction. “Hmm, I’ve already won three matches in a row. Maybe we should give it a break now. You can’t win against me anyway,” he said, placing the controller down with a satisfied grin.
“You’re just too cocky,” you mumbled, lightly punching him again.
Jungkook leaned in and pinched your cheek. “Don’t pout. I’m just kidding.”
“Tch, just shut up,” you playfully responded, though you couldn’t hide your smile. A comfortable silence settled between you two, the kind only best friends share.
After a moment, Jungkook broke the silence, “I wonder if you pout like that with your boyfriend.”
The question caught you off guard. You blinked at him, surprised. “I don’t have a boyfriend, though?”
He looked equally surprised. “Wait, you don’t? Why didn’t you say anything before? I thought you already had one.”
You shrugged, “Eh, it’s not like it’s a big deal or anything. I just didn’t have the time to get a boyfriend.”
Jungkook chuckled at your pouty face. “Gosh, you’re adorable,” he said, ruffling your hair.
You blushed and pouted more, looking away from him. “Stop it, I look ugly when I pout.”
Jungkook’s eyes softened as he held your chin, gently turning your face back to him. “I think you look the cutest when you pout,” he said in a low, deep voice, his face suddenly much closer to yours than before.
Your heart skipped a beat. For a few moments, neither of you moved, your eyes locked, his breath warm against your skin. The air between you felt charged, different from anything you had ever felt before.
Suddenly, Jungkook seemed to realize how close he was. His eyes widened, and he quickly backed away, coughing awkwardly. “Um, so... should we... sleep now?” he stammered, his usual confidence shaken.
You nodded, equally flustered. “Uh, yeah... let’s sleep.”
The playful banter from earlier was replaced by a heavy, awkward silence. Both of you were lost in thought, processing the unexpected moment. *Why was he so close? Why did my heart flutter like that?* you wondered, sneaking glances at Jungkook.
Jungkook, meanwhile, was having his own internal battle. *Did I really get that close? Why was I so... drawn to her just now?* he thought, staring at you when he thought you wouldn’t notice.
Finally, breaking the tension, Jungkook spoke up. “Y/N,” he said softly.
“Yeah...?” you replied, your voice barely above a whisper.
He hesitated, then asked, “Can we... sleep together?”
Your eyes widened in shock. “Wait, did he just ask me to sleep with him in one bed?” you thought, your face heating up.
Seeing your reaction, Jungkook quickly clarified with a smirk, “Stop looking like that. I meant just sleeping next to each other, obviously.”
You felt a wave of relief and embarrassment wash over you. “Idiot, why would you suddenly ask that out of nowhere?” you mumbled, still flustered.
Jungkook chuckled, clearly enjoying your reaction. “I just wanted to see you get flustered,” he teased, poking your cheek.
“Tch, you and your annoying teasing...” you muttered, pouting again.
“Come on, it’s getting late,” Jungkook said, standing up and stretching. As he did, his shirt rode up, revealing his toned stomach. Your eyes lingered for a second longer than you intended.
Jungkook caught you staring and grinned. “Like what you see, hm?”
Your face turned bright red. “No! I wasn’t staring at you!” you lied, quickly looking away.
“Tch, now you’re lying? I know you were checking me out,” Jungkook teased, moving closer.
“Shut up... Why would I check you out?” you retorted defensively, still avoiding eye contact.
Jungkook’s smirk widened as he backed you against the wall. His deep voice dropped even lower, “Don’t lie, honey. You were definitely checking me out.”
Your heart raced at his proximity and the way he called you “honey.” You were trapped, both by the wall and by your own overwhelming feelings.
He leaned in, his face inches from yours, his breath hot against your skin. “Did you enjoy looking at my body?” he whispered, his voice sending shivers down your spine.
You were speechless, your mind spinning with confusion and something else—something deeper. You felt his nose brush against yours, his eyes boring into yours with an intensity that made your knees weak.
Jungkook’s gaze dropped to your lips, lingering there for a moment before he leaned even closer. You could feel his breath on your lips, the tension between you so thick it was almost unbearable.
“Speechless, huh?” he teased softly, his voice barely more than a whisper. “Can’t say a word right now?”
You wanted to say something—anything—but the words wouldn’t come. All you could do was stare back at him, your heart pounding in your chest, wondering what would happen next.
And in that moment, as your breath mingled with his, it felt like the world outside had ceased to exist, leaving just the two of you in this electric silence, teetering on the edge of something entirely new.
