part 9~
Ha-rin pov:
The morning, I woke up with a sense of determination.I got ready quickly, ate a light breakfast, and made my way to the campus. But as I approached my first class, a sense of foreboding crept over me.
As I entered the classroom, I noticed Jungkook was already sitting in my usual seat. My heart skipped a beat. What was he doing here? He wasn't supposed to be in this class.
"Hey," he said, flashing me a mischievous grin. "Decided to join you today."
"Jungkook, this is literature. You're not in this class," I whispered, trying to hide my annoyance.
He shrugged. "I wanted to spend more time with you. Plus, literature sounds fun."
I sighed, knowing this was going to be a long class. The professor, Mr. Park, walked in and immediately noticed Jungkook.
"Who are you?" he asked, squinting at Jungkook.
"Jeon Jungkook, sir," he replied politely.
Mr. Park raised an eyebrow. "You seem new. Are you sure you're in the right class?"
Jungkook leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips. "Just thought I'd expand my horizons, sir."
I tried to suppress a giggle, but Mr. Park wasn't amused. "This is not a place for freeloaders, Mr. Jeon. Either you're here to learn or you leave."
Jungkook's expression turned serious. "I’m here to learn," he said, glancing at me with a wink.
The class began, and despite my best efforts to focus, Jungkook kept whispering jokes and teasing me. I shot him glares, but he just grinned wider. Finally, Mr. Park had enough.
"Mr. Jeon and Miss Ha-rin, if you cannot behave, you will both have to stay after class and clean the classroom."
"But sir, I—" I started, but he cut me off.
"No excuses. You both stay."
As the class continued, Jungkook and I exchanged frustrated looks. When the lecture finally ended, the classroom emptied, leaving us alone with Mr. Park.
"Grab those cleaning supplies and get to work," he ordered.
We started cleaning in silence. After a few minutes, I couldn't hold it in any longer. "Jungkook, why do you always have to cause trouble?" I asked, trying to keep my voice low.
He chuckled. "I just wanted to spend more time with you."
"Well, now we're stuck here," I grumbled, scrubbing the floor. "Thanks a lot."
He walked over and grabbed my hand, making me stop. "Hey," he said softly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get us into trouble. I just... I like being around you."
My heart softened at his words. "I like being around you too," I admitted. "But you need to stop getting us into these messes."
He smiled, his eyes twinkling. "Deal."
After we finished cleaning, Jungkook reached into his bag and pulled out a small envelope. He handed it to me with a shy smile.
"What's this?" I asked, taking it from him."It's an invitation," he said, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
"To my concert. It's happening in the campus auditorium this Saturday."I opened the envelope and found a beautifully designed invitation inside.
"You have a concert?""Yes," he replied, looking a bit nervous. "And I really want you to be there. I'm going to sing a song... for you."My heart skipped a beat.
"For me?""Yes, Ha-rin," he said, taking my hand. "You’re important to me. My girlfriend should be there."I blushed, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety.
"I'll be there," I promised. He grinned, leaning in to kiss my forehead. "Thank you. It means a lot to me."
We walked out of the classroom together, my heart racing at the thought of Jungkook's concert. This was a side of him I had never seen before, and I couldn’t wait to experience it.

Ha-rin pov:
I opened the front door to our house, feeling both exhausted and oddly satisfied after the chaotic day with Jungkook.
I kicked off my shoes and walked into the living room, expecting to see my mom reading a book or watching her favorite drama.
Instead, I found her sitting on the couch, staring at the TV screen with tears streaming down her face.
The video recorder was on, playing a familiar video. My heart sank as I recognized the footage. It was an old home video of my mom's biological son,
who had passed away when he was only five years old. The video showed a lively little boy, running around the garden, laughing and playing with his toys.
I walked quietly into the room, not wanting to disturb her. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen her like this.
She often watched these old videos when she was feeling particularly sad, like she was trying to hold on to the precious memories of the son she lost.
"Mom?" I said softly, sitting down beside her.
She didn’t respond at first, her eyes glued to the screen. The little boy's laughter echoed through the room, filling it with a haunting sense of what could have been.
"Mom," I said again, gently touching her arm.
She finally turned to me, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "Oh, Ha-rin," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I just... I miss him so much."
I nodded, feeling a lump in my throat. I never knew him, but I felt the weight of his absence every day. It was like a shadow that hung over our family, a constant reminder of the pain my parents had endured.
"I know, Mom," I said, wrapping my arms around her. "I know."
She leaned into my embrace, sobbing quietly. "He would have been such a wonderful young man," she said. "So full of life and love."
I didn’t know what to say. How could I? I couldn’t bring him back. All I could do was be there for her, to try and fill the void in her heart as best as I could.
After a while, she pulled back and looked at me, her eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and love. "You’ve been such a blessing to us, Ha-rin," she said. "I don't know what we would have done without you."
Tears welled up in my eyes, and I smiled weakly. "I'm the lucky one, Mom. You and Dad gave me a home, a family. I’ll always be grateful for that."
She nodded, wiping her tears away. "I just wish... I wish you could have known him."
"I do too," I admitted. "But I’m here now, and I’ll always be here for you."
We sat there in silence for a while, the video still playing in the background. The little boy on the screen laughed and played, blissfully unaware of the tragic fate that awaited him. It was a bittersweet reminder of the fragility of life and the strength of the bonds that held us together.
As the video came to an end, my mom turned off the recorder and sighed. "Thank you, Ha-rin," she said. "For everything."
I hugged her tightly, feeling a surge of love and determination. "I love you, Mom," I whispered. "We’ll get through this together."
And in that moment, I realized that no matter how much pain and loss we had endured, we still had each other. And that was something worth holding on to.
