Garden Home
As I walked down the road I saw
All things green, a white speckled bird,
And then as I walked on I heard
The mockings of an old crow's caw.
Then coming from their collective maw
The sounds of a whole new race.
Who dream of flying but can only walk,
Milling in circles they constantly talk.
Then march on at their even pace.
The collective hands all hide there face,
In fear of what will come.
My pace picked up, as I went on.
Jogging by houses built all of wood,
Where at one time the trees had stood.
The sun rose up, I caressed the dawn.
Forgetting all the lesser fawn,
In the joy of those things new.
Buildings clumped amongst the trees,
Roadways stretched across the seas.
Although the men were very few,
They took the stage after their cue.
And now they would take over.
Running, but not quite up to speed,
I saw the things that man had done.
Polluting the air and blocking the sun,
They stripped the world of all her seed.
And knowing that they had done this deed,
They struggled to put things right.
In their dominance of the earth,
Man forgot the gift, rebirth.
And now the world was quite a sight,
In darkness lit up with colored light,
But slowly rotting inside.
I ran flat out across the land,
Coughing and wheezing for lack of air,
Not wanting to know how man would fare.
And in the passing of man's own hand
My feet got stuck in sucking sand,
It left me in the wake of man.
Man's quest for balance kept going forward.
They knew not what they were headed toward.
So now the sun would cruelly tan,
All those now in the frying pan,
Screaming for their forgiveness.
I got upon my knees and prayed,
To God with all his cosmic powers,
to let these no be man's last hours
On this planet now all decayed,
Upon which man had barely stayed,
And caused such great destruction.
The environment could surely heal,
If man would take a spot on the wheel,
And help with all the new construction,
Becoming a part of the new production,
Of a whole new garden home.
I slowly watched the darkness fade.
The air became fresh and clean.
And no longer hiding behind a screen,
The sun came out and danced and played
In this new world that man had made
Which looked so like my garden home.
No cars, no cities, or wasted space
Now man showed proudly his keen face
Across the world where he could roam,
And feel forever like he was at home,
In Earth's gentle embrace.
