Ghost
Rayne's POV
After finding Sharlissa and Derrick, I had some serious questions to ask, But they were both avoiding me. They wouldn't answer one phone call. I still couldn't believe what I saw.
"Daddy's on TV! Turn it on!" Camille runs into the living room, flipping the television on.
"Michael Jackson announced he's releasing another short film, but this one will be 40 minutes long!" The tv blares.
"I wanted to do something big for the fans. I hope this one can be released by Halloween. It's a mix of fun and music" Michael says.
"Oh Mike's doing another video?" I say standing beside the television.
"It's a story mommy!" Camille corrects me. "Can we go watch him??" She asks.
"Well I don't know where it will be. Let's call daddy and ask ok?" I grab the phone and call Bill to reach Michael. He's terrible with cellphones, he never keeps it around him. So Bill is usually our point of contact.
"This is Bill"
"Hey Bill, is Michael available or is he busy?"
"Yes he's available. Hang on."
I hand the phone over to Camille, as she bounced up and down excitedly to talk to Michael.
"Good afternoon." He says
"Hi daddy!" She gleams
"Hey! What's going on?" He responds equally excited.
"We saw you on tv! Me and mommy wanna come see you!" she smiles.
"I don't see a problem.. When?"
"Um... We wanna see your story." She stammers. I could tell by the way the conversation was going, Michael wasn't grasping what she was talking about. I ask to speak with him for a moment.
"Hey babe." I chuckle.
"Hi." He chuckles. "Please enlighten me on what she's talking about."
I explained everything to him and figure out when and where his filming will be. I hang up and tell Camille, "next month we'll be going to Orlando." I smile.
I was actually excited to go, being home was not all it's cracked up to be. I was bored, my two best friends were avoiding me and most likely sleeping around behind my back and My daughter wanted to be with her father.

Sharlissa calls me to meet up with me and talk. So, I drop Camille and her kitten at Tito's and head to see her.
"Thanks for watching her Tito. I'll be a couple hours."
"It's no problem! She can watch 3T in the studio tonight. I know she likes being there all the time." He smiles.
"Yeah, Michael practically raised her in the studio." I grin. I hug her before I leave, "be good baby girl, I'll be back later"
Leroy escorted me inside a small store Sharlissa liked to shop in. It was a very awkward silence between us, she wouldn't even look at me when I walked up to her.
"Sharlissa."
"Hey Rayne..." She says quietly.
"So... Wanna tell me what's been going on?" I fold my arms.
"I mean.. What's there to say?..you know what happened.." She shrugs, her eyes still facing downward.
"How long?" I sigh.
"Does that really matter?" She whines.
"Sharlissa..."
"Okay.." She sighs. "When he moved out here, I'd say about 2 months in, after you introduced us.. We just hit it off."
"Sharlissa! He was still expecting his baby.." I shake my head. "I can't believe the two of you.."
"Look, his wife was driving him crazy and you know how things are with Carlos. He's divorcing her."
My mouth gaped open, "what?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Derrick told me Leah was very resentful of him, but I didn't think it was that bad. All I could think of was my goddaughter Isabella. I didn't know if it was my place to tell Leah. I had no clue what to do.
"I mean we were gonna tell you.. Whenever he was ready."
"Sharlissa, I can't believe you would do this. I can't believe Derrick." I shake my head in disappointment. "I can't even look at you." I scoff.
"Is this how it's gonna be now?" She asks.
"I don't know Sharlissa..." I sigh "I really need to talk to Derrick.." I mumble
"I can call him. He'll answer my calls." She says dialing his number. "Hey Derrick, can you meet me at the park across from the boulevard?"
"Is he coming?" I ask. She nods and we head to the park where Leroy sits closely behind me to guard me from any of Michael's fans. I find it silly for me to have a bodyguard because people may recognize me, but no one ever bothers me. Michael thinks it's necessary.
Derrick finally pops up after about an hour and I couldn't have been more angry. "Shit." He whispers.
"Yeah shit.. That's what you're a piece of Derrick! Why would you do that to Leah?" I shake my head, folding my arms.
"Leah doesn't love me anymore. We only tolerate each other for Isabella. I don't see how you and Michael stayed together after having a kid. I couldn't deal with her constant mood swings. She was crazy." He vents
I wasn't convinced, "Derrick you guys are married.. Marriage isn't perfect!"
"How would you know? You're husband is the biggest superstar on earth.. I see you guys together, happy and in love for 18 years. I want that. Through all your problems, you guys still work out.."
Derrick knew better than anyone that Michael and I's relationship was far from perfect. "Michael and I have so many problems I can't even count. But we work through it... And we just work. You have to have that patience with Leah."
"I don't have anymore patience.. Sharlissa and I work better. I can see that. I can feel that." Derrick says adamantly. "Honestly, I'm not even sure Izzy is mine."
I sigh. "So you're just gonna divorce Leah, leave her with a 4 year old daughter.. Wow." I scoff and walk away from them, still trying to grasp what is really happening. At times I wish that Michael and I's relationship went another way, but then I just thank God for my marriage. I couldn't imagine going through what Leah is about to go through.
Michael's POV
"Mike, you're developing dark circles under your eyes. You need to get more rest." Karen says, blotting make up under my eyes.
"I know. I'm trying. It's so difficult to sleep after coming off stage. I honestly need something to put me to sleep. I'm just holding out because of Rayne. But lord knows I need it." I yawn.
"Have you tried drinking tea? Or meditation?" She asks
"Trust me, I've tried everything except hypnosis." I chuckle. "Nothing works"
"Well I'm glad you're not taking those pills anymore. You're making the right decision.." Karen smiles.
I shrug, it didn't feel like I was. I couldn't get any sleep, I felt terrible. I didn't even feel like my performances have been any good because of the lack of sleep I'm getting.
"Isn't your wife and daughter coming soon? Are you excited?" Karen asks, fiddling with my hair.
"Yeah they'll meet me in Orlando tomorrow, I can't wait. I haven't seen them in almost 2 months. I miss my daughter so much." I smile, "and I know with my wife around, I'll be able to get some sleep. She helps a lot."
"What made them wanna come out?"
"My daughter.." I chuckle, "my daughter saw my short film announcement on television. She wants to come watch me film it. She's developing this new love for cameras." I swear she's just like me, her interests move from one to the other.

The next morning, Bill brought Camille and Rayne to my hotel room from the airport. I stayed behind to try and catch some sleep after that long drive. I didn't end up falling asleep. I simply laid there. Not to mention I was excited to see my girls. I hear a little voice outside my room door in the living room of the suite..
"Is daddy sleeping?" I hear, I slowly get up, pushing the little power I have from no sleep to stand. I open the door and see her facing the opposite direction. Suddenly I scoop her in my arms as she giggles loudly. "Daddy!!" She grins hugging me.
I hug her tightly, "I missed you Millie!"
"No love for mom?" Rayne says entering the room.
I grin wide, "there's always love for mom." I lean in to kiss her. "How are you guys?" I sit on the couch behind me, placing Camille on my lap.
"We're good.. We missed you." Rayne smiles, leaning her head on my shoulder.
"I missed you guys too." I yawn.
"Daddy, mommy says Disneyland is here! Can we go?" Camille says.
I yawn again as Rayne watches me frowning. "Um, buggy, it looks like daddy needs to get some rest. Maybe another time." She says. "Have you been sleeping babe?"
"Yeah. Of course.." I yawn again. Rayne smirks at me, she always knows when I'm telling little white lies. "No.." I admit.
"Why not?"
"I just can't." I shrug. Honestly, I had a doctor located out here in Orlando that could provide me with a medicine to put me to sleep. I just don't wanna mess up that trust.
Once Camille and Rayne were settled, we headed to the set for my short film.
"Daddy what's this story gonna be about?" She asked in the car. I chuckle at her calling them stories.
"Well Millie, this one is about a man who lives alone and stays to himself. But people don't like him, so they try to make him leave. It's going to be funny!"
She frowns, "that doesn't sound funny.." She says unconvinced. As we pull up to the set, the outside looks pretty normal. Except for the big door the props crew created.
Rayne's mouth dropped as we walked inside, "oh wow. This is almost like a movie set. Looks like they'll be a lot happening." Camille clutches Rayne's hand as they walk over to my seat and the director's chair.
"Mike, we're gonna get you in make up, you're gonna play the mayor scenes today." Stanley, the director says. This film shoot was gonna be fun simply because of him. I'm always poking fun at him, but he's a great director.
After a long 3 hours of make up, I sneak behind Rayne and Camille. Rayne's jumps before giggling loudly, Camille has no idea who I am. I watched her hang on to her mother tightly, her eyes shifting, most likely looking for me.
"Why are you so scared Camille?" Rayne asked, "it's just Michael.." She giggled. Camille shook her head.
"It is me, I promise!" I laugh. Her face wilts in confusion. Karen walks by laughing, "she doesn't recognize you Mike.. Aw baby girl, it's your daddy. It really is."
"You don't look like my daddy.." She pouts.
"It's a costume buggy. Like a disguise." Rayne explains.
I pick her up and hang her over my hip, casually tickling her. "I'm not your daddy? I'm not?" I chuckle.
"No." She giggles. After a while she knew who I was and just said no so I could tickle her more.
She grabs on to my fake nose, "daddy? This is fake right?" She asked
"Of course." I smile.
She sighs, "good, because you look like a fat old man."
I cackle loudly placing her down to go on set.
Rayne's POV
Camille and I watched Michael put on his best acting chops. He actually wasn't bad, I know if my dad were still around, he'd consider putting him in a movie.
"You're strange, you're weird.. And we don't like you."
Those lines came out of him with so much hate. I knew this was a shot at the public. He was always so upset at what tabloids had to say about him, Camille was barely able to watch tv. I had to enforce some of my rules on him to allow her. He walked off set for a brief moment and came back with his chest being very lumpy.
Camille poked his stomach. "What's that?!"
"Balloons, to make my tummy blow up. See?" He responds, the balloons began to move around and Camille placed her hand on it laughing.
Afterward, Michael had to dance.. To say Camille enjoyed it, was an understatement. She could not stop laughing. Michael came over to us after the first take.
"How you dance like that in the big old suit, and not be winded!?" I ask, fixing his tie.
He shrugs, "I don't know. I like this disguise I may keep it for myself." He grins.
"I like my Michael better." I smile. "Besides it took you 3 hours for this. That's longer than I take to get ready."
He chuckles. "I know." He leans in to kiss me as I back away.
"Oh no, I'm not kissing you until you take that stuff off!" I laugh.
"You don't like my dirty old man face?" He grins slyly, making a silly face, continuously leaning forward.
I laugh, "no! Back up."
"Cmon baby, gimmie a kiss." He says goofily.
"Mm mm!" I shut my lips tightly. Trying to hold my laughter.
"Give him a kiss mommy!" Camille laughs.
I roll my eyes, and peck his lips. "Oh my god." I laugh.
"That was so weak" Michael says shaking his head. "I know my daughter will give me a better one than that." He leans towards her and she sweetly kisses him, giggling.
"That's what I'm talking about!" He smiles, "I'm coming back for you." He points at me walking onto the set.
I loved the fact that when he was around us, he could be himself. I remember a conversation with Bill a long time ago, telling me Michael has never been as happy as he is with me. At first I didn't believe it. But being with him for so long, I can tell Camille and I are the lights of his life. We mean everything to him. I only hoped we could stay this way forever.
