Debbie

Michael's POV

Promising Rayne that I was officially done with the medication was easier said than done. I couldn't sleep at all since I went cold turkey. Usually I was up reading or just lying there waiting for the sun to rise. Rayne never knew I was still awake, but I'm giving this all up for her.

She and Camille made me a better man and now with this new child coming, I couldn't mess that up.

"Oh no..." I hear Rayne in the bathroom, disappointment all in her voice. She scoffs and sucks her teeth.

"What's going on?" I ask through the crack of the door.

She sighs, "I'm not pregnant.."

"How do you know?" I ask.

"You know... How most women find out.." She drags.

"Oh.. But you said..."

"The test was wrong Mike.. I'm just glad we didn't tell anyone." She sucks her teeth again.

I open the door and crouch in front of her. It was clear she was upset about not having another baby.

"We can always try again. It's ok." I stroke her cheek.

"I know. I was just excited.. I should've known not to say anything until I knew for sure. That was my fault." She shook her head. "Besides, I'd rather have another kid after you retire."

Before I started my American leg of my tour, I had to make sure my entire body was in complete shape again. I went into my dermatologist's office and waited patiently before the nurse called my name.

"Michael Jackson? Dr. Klein is ready." She smiles.

"Debbie! How are you!" I smile back.

"I'm great Mr. Jackson how are you?" She responds.

"I'm doing well. Debbie have I told you that you're my favorite nurse here? Your presence is so radiant!" I grin as she sets me on the chair.

She giggles sweetly, "well you're my favorite patient, Mr. Jackson.. Giving me all these compliments and whatnot.. " she waves.

"You deserve them, you're a real sweet woman! Any man would be more than lucky."

"Speaking of sweet women, how's Mrs. Jackson?" She says as she wipes my face with alcohol swabs.

"My mother? Or my wife?" I joke.

"Both!"

"My mother is just fine, still dealing with Joseph's mess. And my wife is..." I chuckle. "She's my wife.. Still feisty, still Rayne... she's a little upset though"

"Aww, why?" Debbie bates.

"Well she thought we were having another baby, but we weren't. The test was wrong. She's really upset."

"Are you upset?" She asks.

"Well naturally, I've been bugging her for another kid for the past 3/4 months. But I guess it wasn't time." I shrug.

"That's too bad. If it were me, I'd be more than happy to give you a child whenever you asked. It'd be like a gift from me to you... Everytime." She smiles focusing on my arm.

I smile uncomfortably, "Debbie that's sweet. But I'm sure Rayne has no problem.."

"I'm just saying, if you want a baby.. I can give you one." She repeats, "my gift to both of you."

I couldn't read if she was serious or not. So I chose not to respond, aiding an awkward silence between us until Dr. Klein entered the room.

****A few days later*

Rayne's POV

Certain days had been better than others since I found out there was no baby coming. I was still a little upset but relieved. Camille and I carried our laundry to one of the maids, Carmen, in the laundry room. Sometimes I would sit and talk with her and help. Carmen had become a very good friend of mine.

"Mommy, this fell out of the clothes we gave to Ms. Carmen." Camille hands to me.

"Thank you baby.." I smile

"Gracias niña Es bonita." Carmen smiles, pinching her cheek.

"What's that mean Ms. Carmen? " Camille asks

"It means thank you pretty girl" Carmen smiles.

"Carmen, have you heard of a Debbie Rowe?" I ask reading the card closely.

"Ay, no mira, is that from Mr. Jackson?" She suggests.

"I'm gonna go ask him, he's in his office." I head into the main house, passing Camille on her playground swing set.

"Hey babe. What's going on?" Michael says.

"Nothing. I just needed to know if you needed this.. It's a card from a 'Debbie Rowe'" I hand over to him "it fell out of the clothes when we took them to Carmen."

He looks for a while, "no, it's trash. Thanks for asking."

"Who's Debbie?" I ask

"Oh, she's my dermatologist's nurse. She just gave me her number for something really silly." He chuckles, rolling his eyes.

"What was so silly?" I urge, his grin slowly disappearing.

"Well, I don't want you to get upset. I'm sure it was just a joke." He warns.

"Ok.." I giggle slightly.

"We were talking about you and I having another baby. So, she offered to have a baby for us. That's why she gave me her card, if I ever agreed to it, I'd give her a call." He chuckles.

I stop chuckling calmly, "baby that sounds serious.." I frown a little.

"No she was joking.. Had to have been, she knows I'm married." He waves off.

"How would she have a baby for us?" I ask.

"I would guess she'd take my seed and... Ohhh." He realizes.

"Wow, she was really bold." I scoff.

"Yeah... I didn't think of that.."

***

I decided to head to Michael's dermatologist office and meet Debbie myself, without Michael's knowledge.

"Hi, welcome to Arnold Klein's office? How can I help you?" She gleams.

"Hi, are you miss Debbie Rowe?" I smile.

"Yes I am, how can I help you?"

"I'm Michael's wife, Rayne, I just wanted to have quick discussion with you." I sustain my sweet smile.

"Oh sure, I've heard all about you, it's so good to finally meet you!"

"I just wanted to let you know that I don't appreciate the recent conversation you've had with my husband. Offering to have a baby? I've never heard of someone doing that.. And he has me for that.. All I'm asking is please refrain from anything like that." I ask politely.

"Oh that! It was just a joke" she giggles, "he said you guys were having trouble having a baby and I simply said-"

"Woah, he told you we were having trouble?"

"Well not in that sense, he just said the pregnancy test was wrong and-"

"So you know he has a healthy 5 year old daughter? What made you think it was okay to-"

"He said he wanted another baby I told him I'd give him one. End of story. It was a badly cited joke. Won't happen again."

I smirk, "that's all I wanted to hear. Have a great day Debbie."

Michael came in a few days later confused about why Debbie seemed so uncomfortable around him to hand him his test results.

"I may have paid her a visit.." I smile sitting next to him to read his results.

"What'd you do?"

"Nothing! I just told her I didn't want her to have that kind of conversation with you. You have a child and a wife.. It's not appropriate." I shrug. "If she was uncomfortable with that then she obviously meant something by it."

Michael sighs, "what am I gonna do with you?"

"Love me." I smile kissing him on the cheek.
