chapter two: stomped out blunts

chapter two

| stomped out blunts |

══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══

It was the perfect night for a bonfire, especially at the Boneyard. The sky was clear, and the air began to cool as the sun set. People from all over the island indulged into this party, even the tourists, or the tourons. Bait for the sharks. Although it was mostly girls that were desperate to escape their families and meet people their own age, mainly boys. In a sense, Kooks and Pogues were alike to the tourons. Everyone was trying to escape the deafening grasp of their families, although not everyone was that way. Look at Sarah Cameron, her family is picture perfect and a symbol of almost royalty on the island. If there was a King Kook on the island, it would be her father, Ward Cameron. A humble and a family man.

Sienna wore a plain pink dress, it was sheer, that flowed in the ocean wind. Little daisies littered the wrap dress that made it more feminine. A neat bow tied to the side, and she wore tan platform sandals to complete her look, although they would be taken off right when she got there. Sarah wore a dress similar to hers, instead it was a blue wrap dress with vibrant purple and pink flowers that Sienna couldn't quite identify. This always happened to the two, mistakenly matching, it was hilarious.

Sienna and Sarah walked in with their crew following behind them like bodyguards. Sarah spotted an old washed up lifeguard tower, which definitely had some disease on it. Topper followed after her like a lost puppy. Kelce and Rafe went off to go find some drinks, at least that's what Sienna liked to think. So the girl stood there, on the outskirts of the party, alone. She ditched her shoes at the base of a tree where various other shoes laid messily around. The sun was at a point of where no mattered where you turned, it was in your eyes. This didn't bode well with people who had lighter eyes, including her.

The curly blonde stood with her hands by her side, beginning to make her way over to the Keg, surely mixed up with something to loosen her up. Serving drinks was Pope Heyward who she saw earlier at the Coast Guard.

She smiled, "Hey, Pope. I'll take a cup of whatever you got there," She raked her hands in her hair, waiting for the Keg to fill it up, but it abruptly clicked when her cup was only a quarter full.

"Oh no," He toyed around with the attachment that was supposed to fill up her cup, and the building line behind her. "John B?" He called. That was his name, Sienna thought to herself.

He was nowhere to be found. As Pope looked around, he couldn't spot any of his other friends. He decided to make a decision that was probably stupid, but who else was there?

He asked Sienna, "Hey, can you run to John B's car? It's the Volkswagen van... Kinda hard to miss, to grab some more beer for the Kegger, we ran out. It should be unlocked."

She stood contemplating her decision, but she liked Pope, so she replied, "Yeah, I think I saw it on the way in."

"Thanks, you're a lifesaver."

Sienna rushed up to the beach, and away from the party to the nearby parking lot that had been abandoned, meaning it was a great place for parking for Boneyard parties and Keggers. The wind blew her hair across her face, she swept it behind her ear. Sienna made her way through a clearing in the forest to the parking lot. She spotted John B's car as soon as it came into view. Pope was right, it was hard to miss. Sienna just wondered how he parked, that thing must've been like driving a tank. She walked up to his car, hoping for it be unlocked. She slid open the back door, thank God. She didn't want to have to go back down there with no beer.

She climbed to the backseat, no beer in sight, "Where the fuck is it?" She raked her hands through her hair to keep it out of her face, something her hair was adamant on not doing. Just then, a stench filled her nose, weed.

It smelt awful, but it was strong. She turned around seeing JJ Maybank in the front seat, twisted around and watching her, while he smoked his blunt. He took in one drag, as she watched him.

"Beers in the front," He exhaled and rested his arms on the console separating the passenger and driver's seat, "You know, if I was a kidnapper, you'd be dead. Where is your awareness to your surroundings?"

Sienna Cade just rolled her eyes, "Of course." Of course, he's everywhere she is. "Are you following me?"

JJ was mid-drag when he coughs it out, "What?"

"Well first, you show up to my house, then the Coast Guard, and now here," She hops out of the back and walks around to the driver's seat, to grab the beer sitting there.

She opens the door to see the blonde opening his mouth as soon as she can hear him again, "Okay well first, I work at your house. Second, this is my friend's car. And third- I didn't even see you at the Coast Guard. So... who's following who?"

She lifts the two cases of beer, shrugging, "Fair point," She pauses, and was about to close the door, when a question raised in her mind, "Wait, why were you at the Coast Guard?"

"Missing boat." He responded plainly, observing his blunt.

"Me too?"

JJ almost jumped out of his seat, losing his blunt at the bottom of the floorboard. He stomped it out, it was no longer unusable. He groaned and eventually turned to the blonde curly-haired girl.

"Wait are you looking for it too?" He peered.

"Yes, Maybank. I'm looking for my boat," Sienna responded, he sighed in relief, "Why are you so weird?"

She slammed the car door, walking back down to the beach, with the two cases. She grabbed two beers for herself, and handed the rest to Pope, who gave thanks, and opted to hand those out instead.

As night creeped up on the party, the stars danced in the sky with the teens who cared about nothing except for this moment. Surely a rememberable party for many, and just another one that blended in with the rest for others. The moon was full, and the waves crashed close to the party. The gravity of the moon pulled the waves closer to shore, it was high tide.

Sienna eventually found her crew again. Rafe, Kelce, and Sarah talked about what they we're going to do tomorrow. Sienna and Topper were shotgunning their beers.

"'Kay, ready?" Topper asked looping his arm around hers, mid-air.

"Ready to beat you," Sienna smirked, "3..."

"2..." He continued, "1!" They both shouted, trying to get the beer down as fast as they could. Sienna could feel the last bit making it's way to her mouth, until the the can was thrusted out of her grip. A sharp pain stung her lip.

Topper just smacked the can from her mouth, while he finished his drink. He burped before yelling, "I won!"

"You cheated!" Sienna yelled, tasting blood in her mouth, "You cut me." She said quieter, bringing her hand up to her lip. The metal on the lid, must've been what got her lip.

"It's just a game, come on," He laughed, walking away.

Sienna looked at him walking back over to Sarah. She wiped the blood off of her lip, and prayed that it would stop bleeding. The thing with Topper is he was a fun guy, until he wasn't. Every time he had anything to drink, he always found a way to piss someone off. Most of the time it was her. She walked down to the shoreline, and bent down to cup some saltwater to clean her lip. She stumbled her way back up to the beach, feeling the entire beer she drank hitting her.

The party was no longer lighthearted, she could feel tension in the air, as she made her way back to the Boneyard. As she passed a rock, she saw a huge crowd. Within that crowd, she rushed through to find Topper and John B fighting. She gasped.

"What the hell are you doing Topper?" She shouted. He didn't respond. Him and John B were going at it.

"Babe, babe, babe!" Sarah pleaded, trying to run towards the fight. Sienna held her back, in an effort to not let her get involved. She shook her head at Sarah, telling her it wasn't a good idea. Sarah gulped, before nodding.

Topper held John B in the water, "You want me to drown you like your old man, huh?" John B gasped as the water retreated.

"Topper, stop!" Sarah shouted again.

"You're gonna kill him," Sienna pleaded.

The wind blew stronger the longer Topper held John B under, the crowd watched in anticipation. No one went to help. Everyone saw it as a performance, entertainment. Sienna knew she had told Sarah not to get involved, but Sienna didn't know if she could witness someone dying, let alone at the hands of her friend. Sienna broke grip from Sarah running over to the fight.

"Sienna, no!" She began to run after when Kelce held her back, "Let him be." He held her arm.

Before Sienna made it to the two, she heard a click. JJ was holding a gun to Topper's temple. Sienna panicked, standing directly across from him. This just made the situation ten times worse.

"JJ, put the gun down!" Sienna shouted, with her hands up.

He was in a like trance-like state, obsessed with sticking that gun in his head. Surely, he wouldn't do it, Sienna thought.

"Did you say something, Princess?" His shaking hands continued to press to Topper's head, when he also put his hands up in surrender. He watched her pleading eyes, and took the gun away from Topper's temple.

"We're good, we're good," Topper repeating, backing away slowly to Sarah and Kelce.

JJ breathed heavily, walking towards the crowd, shooting gunshots in the air, "Alright... everyone get the hell off our side of the island!"

The crowd dispersed in fear. Screams were heard on the beach. Sienna wouldn't be surprised if neighboring houses didn't hear the commotion.

"Kiara! Can you check your psycho friend please?!" Sarah grabbed Topper and Sienna. The three ran to the car. Kelce and Rafe were already in the front, ready to go.

"Get in, get in!" Rafe unlocked the car door.

Sienna, Sarah, and Topper sat in the back. Topper seething, and the girls panting, after a long run. After Sienna caught her breath, she rested her head on the seat, looking over at Topper with malice.

She had the urge to slap him or something. He just tried killing someone. And why? Sienna had no idea. It was probably something stupid.

Rafe dropped Topper and Kelce off at his place, before turning around to the girls, "I hope those Pogues gets what they deserve," Rafe was driving without even looking at the road, "They think they can try and beat Top in a fight? Ha, no way-"

Semi-truck lights flash brightly, they were in the wrong lane, "Rafe! Road!" He swerved sending Sienna straight into the window. She bumped her head, and Sarah landed on top of her. They should've worn seatbelts.

"Jesus, Rafe." Sarah rubbed her head.

Rafe laughed, "Sorry. At least that semi-truck didn't kill us," He continued driving.

Sienna shot him a middle finger. She watched the trees whiz by, her arms crossed. She was so angry with everyone. Topper for literally trying to murder John B, JJ for almost shooting a gun, and Rafe for almost killing her and Sarah. She sighed, now herself seething. She would surely have a bruise on her cheek tomorrow, from the impact of the window, and a cut on her lip. This will be fun to explain to her parents in the morning. She sat up fully, opening the door.

"Bye, Sarah." She mumbled, slamming the door behind her.

Sienna was so done with her friends, minus Sarah. Topper, Rafe, and Kelce seemed to be root of a lot of her problems. She opened her front door quietly, and then shut it. She wandered through the dark mansion, up to her room, where she couldn't be bothered to even change. The girl flopped onto her bed, now realizing she left her shoes at the Boneyard. She laid on her stomach, then flipped to her back taking a pillow with her, and screaming into it. Hopefully her family didn't hear her. Her hair flowed on the lavender bedspread, as she watched her ceiling. A shadow of the branches outside emitting through the window from the moon. The air around her consumed her consciousness, as she fell asleep for the night, the recent events lingering in her dreams.
