Virgil tapped the desk with his pen repeatedly, staring at the pad of yellow sticky notes. He grumbled, moving the pen to his head, as if tapping it instead of the wood would improve his thinking process.

It was movie night tonight (obviously), which meant Virgil and Roman had to once again play their convoluted little game. The way it worked was that the two would write the movie of their choice on a sticky note and stick it in a preferably hidden spot in their room. Then, after dinner, Roman would go to Virgil's room, and Virgil would go to Roman's room. The first one to find the sticky note would have their movie of choice be the one they would watch. Virgil had no idea why or how they came up with this method, but didn't question it, as it was, at the very least, sort of enjoyable.

Except for the fact that for the last few movie nights, the chosen movies has left one of the two unsatisfied, making it unable for them to enjoy it. The discomfort of the Side would slowly seep to the others, and the night would end in uncomfortable silence.  Virgil hated it, and wanted to try and change that. He needed a movie that everyone would enjoy. But what movie could satisfy them?

Virgil groaned and looked up.

And it hit him.

"Oh," he said, slapping his forehead. "I'm an idiot."

Virgil scribbled on the sticky note, hoping it would do the trick.

Roman took a deep breath and sunk down. He was almost afraid of what they would end up with tonight. He had to admit, the... last few sessions weren't quite as enjoyable as he would have liked. The differences in taste he and Virgil had made quite a rift. As well as the fact that the two were very insistent on watching their film of choice, so when they didn't find the note in time, it left a bad taste in their mouth. But Roman was determined to try and change that. He hoped that whatever film they ended up with, it wouldn't make an awkward night.

Roman rose up, arriving in Virgil's room. He did a quick scan of the room, taking in the bed, the desk, and the movie posters. Ah, the posters. Roman had half a mind to steal those posters, as beautiful as they were. But he always reminded himself that princes do not steal, and he must maintain his everlasting goodness and chivalry.

Roman began looking through the bedroom first, lifting the pillows, books and notebooks on the desk, under the desk, in the closet. He scanned the floor. He found nothing. That was completely normal. It was probably downstairs then.

Roman walked down the stairs to the living room, where he began the next part of his search. However, after three minutes of looking, he began to get frustrated. He couldn't find anything. Normally it would be somewhere, and he would find it easily, but this time was different. It was nowhere to be found.

Maybe I missed something, Roman thought as he went back upstairs. He re-entered the bedroom and once again started looking. Then after about five seconds he gave up once again, leaning against the wall next to the posters.

Roman huffed, turning his head to face the posters. The one he was right next to wasn't completely attached to the wall, he noticed. There was a bit of space between it and the wall. And in the space...

Roman couldn't help but grin as he spotted what was undoubtedly a yellow sticky note, stuck to the wall behind the poster. He reached out and grabbed it, turning his head and holding it up to his face.

As his vision reached the paper, his eyes widened. "Holy lyre of Apollo," he murmured.

How long had it been? Fifteen minutes? Hopefully not. Virgil hoped Roman hadn't found his note yet. Sorry Princey, but he couldn't risk having another weird movie night, and Virgil couldn't quite trust anyone else's judgement for tonight. It might be a little selfish, but Virgil was way too anxious for anything else other than what he hoped would happen to happen.

Virgil groaned. He hadn't found anything yet. He had checked every place except for the bed, though he wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because of the fact that the bed was so perfectly made and neat compared to his own. He didn't want to ruin it. Virgil had pretty much been avoiding the bed, even re-checking all the places he'd checked.

Virgil rubbed the top of his head. He should have known better than to get up that fast from under the desk. He slowly walked over to the king-sized bed. It was very plush, with a soft red blanket with gold trimmings and snow-white pillows (the color, not the princess). The backboard was shaped like a large crown. Virgil smirked. This bed was just the fanciful side's color scheme. He couldn't have used a different color? Not even one? Whatever. Virgil wasn't here to criticize Princey on his lack of diversity in his room. He could always do that later anyway. No, Virgil had to find one not-quite-insignificant piece of paper. And he hasn't found it yet.

Virgil sat on the edge on the bed and felt something small and hard crumple under him. He frowned and got up again. Virgil lifted the blanket and saw a single white crumpled sticky note with some fancy, twisted roses in the corner. Virgil picked it up and admired the roses for a second before looking at the writing.

His jaw dropped as he scanned the note. "No way," he said.

Roman was waiting for Virgil when he rose up in the living room. The darker side knew this meant Roman found the sticky note first - an action Virgil would normally be upset at. But this time, Virgil didn't mind. It wouldn't really matter anyway, and that was a good thing.

"So, Princey," Virgil said, holding up the crumpled sticky note and waving it. "Saw what you wrote."

Roman nodded, holding up his obtained note. "As did I with yours, N-emo." He smirked. "Really, you didn't make it very hard."

Virgil projected a look of doubt. "I highly doubt that. I thought Hufflepuffs were the finders?"

Roman huffed in mock offense. "Gryffindors can be just as good as Hufflepuffs at finding, Ron Measly!"

"If anyone's gonna be Ron Weasley, it would be you, Princey."

Roman smirked. "Well, now, it's my turn to doubt, Professor Mc-Gonna-Listen-To-MCR-Later."

He heard Virgil snort a little at the nickname, and the prince's smirk turned into a small, genuine, sheepish smile. He looked at the sticky note in his hand once again. What a strange coincidence. Maybe they had the same goal in mind. "Well then, I believe it's a draw."

Virgil smiled back a little, then turned it into a smirk. "Well, come on, Sir Sing-A-Lot, there's a movie to be watched." He began to walk towards the TV, then abruptly turned around. "What, are you just going to stand there, Prince Reckless?"

Roman grinned. "As if, Dr. Edgeman."

Virgil smirked wider, and walked further towards the TV. Popping in the disc, he summoned Logan as Roman summoned Patton.

"Oh, wowie! What are we watching for tonight, kiddo?" Patton said as he plopped down on the couch and pulled up his legs. Logan muttered a small "Ow," before moving to the kitchen to get the popcorn.

"You'll see, Padre," Roman said, plopping down on the floor.

Virgil placed his note on top of the DVD case before turning around and spotting Roman. "That's my spot, Princey."

Roman raised an eyebrow. "There's still plenty of space,  Nightmare Nocturne."

It was Virgil's turn to raise an eyebrow. "I have no idea who that is."

"Me neither, I just found it on the internet and decided to use it on you."

Logan turned off the lights, then walked over to the three as the title menu appeared, a big bowl of buttered popcorn in his hands. He looked over at the TV. "Well, that is a rather good choice for tonight, I suppose." He sat next to Patton.

"Yeah, I guess it is," Virgil replied, plopping down and indian sitting on the floor besides Roman, who made a face of mock offense.

"You guess?! I would say this is a very good choice for tonight!" he cried, earning an eye roll from Virgil.

"Well, then, guess I made the right choice."

"Let me remind you that I, too, made that choice,

"Whatever, just play the movie already."

They made themselves comfortable as the first notes played of "This is Halloween" started playing. Virgil watched on as Roman sang along to the songs (and so did Virgil, but he made sure no one heard), Logan complimented the animation, and Patton gushed about how pretty Christmas Town was, although he was pretty terrified of Halloween Town, more specifically, the Boogeyman.

As Nightmare Before Christmas ended, Virgil congratulated himself and Roman on a choice well made.

Well, hope you enjoyed that little diddy. Feel free to leave any constructive criticism, seeing as any improvement is good improvement! And I would love to improve to make this one-shot book bearable to my readers, haha.

Also, the festive winter (well... not so winter-y where I'm from) season is coming up, so send some holiday-related prompts!

Thank you for reading! See you in the next chapter!
