Chris's Pov-

I had told Faith everything and she had listened.She did not have to but she did.

I am amazed by this world.Some people wont even glance at you even if you die for them while for some..just a flick is enough to gain their attention.

Faith was a woman who understood.She did and she did not pity.There was no sign of pity in her eyes.

I knew it was bizzare.I dont even know her but there is a feeling that says that i can trust her.

I was waiting outside her house.Raiya was with Tristan and my parents.I am going to meet my lawyer and Faith is coming along.

She has been a rock for my daughter since this last one month.I cannot imagine how can someone trust some one so much in just one month.

My daughter is bewitched.

I sighed.

Faith came down and gave me a small smile.I gave her a polite nod.

She stepped inside my car.

"Does your lawyer know that a second person is coming with you?"

"I have informed him about you.He wanted to meet you too.Its not a problem."

She nodded and then it was silence.

We reached my lawyer's house just a few minutes later.

The lawyer, James is also one of my good friends.So i am clear to say,he was the only one who advised me to meet Faith and discuss it with her.

"Come on,we are here."

She looked around and stepped outside.She looked like she was thinking about something really deep.

I did not ask her though.

I knocked on the door.A lady in a robe opened the door.I frowned and rolled my eyes.

I will kill that idiot.
ON A MEETING,and he is shagging women.

Faith looked very uncomfortable.

"Uhh..you must be Chris.James's friend.I was just leaving anyway.He will be ready in some time.Oh by the way,tell him i left my clothes.I will collect them some other time.They were ruined anyway,handsome.Here is my number.Call me."

She winked at me and placed her card in my hand.

Faith stifled a laughter.She looked like she enjoyed the scene.

That woman just hit on me.

"Hey,can you leave now?We have a meeting."

Faith finally said which made the lady turn to her.

"Oh the Mrs did not like it.I am sorry,little thing.Bye bye."

She blew me a kiss and got into her car and drove away.

"Uggghh..that was.."

I could not complete the sentence.

"Very disturbing."

She completed it for me.

"I am sorry you had to experience this.James is normally good but well.."

She looked like it was rather humourous so i stopped.I will kill that dumbhead when he is done with his shower.

Fifteen minutes later i heard my friend coming down.

"Hey dude..i am .."

He stopped mid-way and stared at Faith who looked like she was shocked.Just on her spot.

While James looked rather emotional.

I expected apologies.I expected introductions but what happened next was totally unexpected.

Faith went and slapped James.She started punching him repeatedly.

I was too shocked to even gather what was happening.She just went totally ballistic.

James didnot even try to stop her.

Did they know each other?

"I am sorry Mimi.Please,forgive me.Please."

Faith looked at him and just pushed him away.

"You are so cruel,Jamie.So cruel."

"Ok can some one please tell me.What the hell is this!We were here for my meeting,not this cry-session."

James glared at me but then tried to talk to Faith who ignored him.

"Chris,meet my elder brother James who left us when i was 10.I just met him after 15 years."

Ok.That was definitely something I was never expecting to hear.James looked quiet.I sighed.

I knew about it ,alright.I have known James since the last 12 years.This was bound to happen someday and Faith would be the baby sister that he always gushed about was the last thing I had ever thought.Small world,really.

''Lets talk about it please,Mimi.There is so much...''

She did not let him complete the sentence.

"There is nothing to talk about.I came here with Chris to discuss Raiya's case.She is my student and I am counselling her too.I don't want to talk about anything else."

She wiped her tears and sat down on the sofa.

"Faith we can do this meeting some other day.James and you.."

She stopped me.

"No Chris.Lets have this meeting."

I stopped.She definitely did not want to talk about it.I looked at James.He gestured me to just sit down.

"Alright.I have decided something.We have to talk gather witnesses apart from Chris's family and I before the hearing.In the eyes on the opposition,Chris is not fit enough to take care of Raiya."

I sighed.My past was not something I am proud about.

Faith gave me a sympathetic look.

"We can talk to some of the school authorities.I mean everyone has seen how sincere and loving Chris is towards Raiya.People even talk about it in school alright,Chris is the one of the only parents who have not even missed a single school event since Raiya started school."

I looked at Faith.

"I checked the records."

"You have become so smart,Mimi."

James smiled at Faith.I face-palmed mentally.Their situation was already bad.For a lawyer,James is pretty dense.

"Well you could have seen me become smart but then you disappeared."

Sarcasm was evident in Faith's voice.
James looked like he had been slapped again.

He cleared his throat and then looked at me.

"Alright.Chris,i want to talk to the authorities of Raiya's school as soon as possible.I mean can we do it tomorrow?"

I looked at Faith.

"I can handle it.I will talk to the principle and arrange the meeting.There wont be a problem"

She smiled at me.

God had sent her in our lives at just the right moment.

I looked at James who's eyes were focused on his sister.Ok.

They should talk.

But who was I to point that out but then she had done so much for me and James was my bestfried.It was only fair if i tried to do something atleast.

"Uhh..I am getting a really important call.I will see you guys in a moment.Please excuse me."

I moved away from the room leaving the duo alone.

Faith's Pov-

I was making holes in the carpet.If glares could kill,i can the say the poor carpet would be ruined.

"I know no amount of apologies or words can improve what i did but mimi,i love you sweetheart.And there was not a single day when i did nof think of you or Grace."

I looked at my brother.His face was full of anguish yet i could not bring myself to accept the situation.

Forgiving was hard.He just left.No messages.No calls.Its like we never existed for him.

"Well,you have a pretty cool way of showing how you cared.Do you even want Grace to know now?Or should i just let it be!God knows,that would be a better choice.I dont want to send her in early labour."

Jim's eyes met mine and then slowly he smiled.

"Grace is pregnant?"

I sighed.

"Yup.Baby no 2.We already have a nephew.His name is Lucas."

"Looks like Dave listened to me.I always said that if they were to get married the boy would be named Lucas,for whatever the reasons unknown."

I smiled.

"He did.Its just,you were not there to see him do it."

I could not stop myself from saying it.

Where had Chris disappeared anyway?I know for sure that he left Jim and I alone,purposely.

"Yes.I was not.You were and i know you were the best little sister and aunt.I have no words to clarify myself nor do i want to.Those reasons are better left unspoken.Its very fucked up,Faith."

He was not even willing to share.I slumped down on the couch.

"I am going to call Chris inside."

I walked away.Leaving him there.

It was too much.The lord knows,i would need a lot of time and strength to overcome this.

Chris was standing on the balcony,taking a puff.

"I didn't know you smoked?"

He looked at me.

"Sometimes.Just sometimes."

I wanted to chug that cancer stick away but i dont think he would appreciate it.I mean i am his neighbour and his daughter's teacher.

"You think i should stop smoking,right?"

I looked at him.Wide-eyed.

"Your expression said it,Faith."

Oh.

"Umm..you definitely should.That's like slow suicide."

"Well,it sure does help me sometimes.Are you alright?"

He changed the topic.

"I am."

He looked like he wanted to say something but he did not.

I think this is the most i have spoken to him or heard his voice,since i met him.

"Come on,lets go inside.We should finalise what we have to do.Quickly."

He gave me a nod and threw the cigarette in the trash can,before following me inside.

Jim was waiting for us with the case file.

"We will schedule a meeting with Rayaana's parents tomorrow."

Chris agreed.

"Inform them,Jim.I want to be done with this.My daughter needs to have a normal childhood rather that visiting courts for custody cases."

"I will."

I wanted to talk to Raiya about this.She should know.

"Chris,i think we should go now.I would like to talk to Raiya before proceeding."

He just gave me a nod.

Jim hugged Chris and i just gave him a small smile,that was my good bye to my brother for the time being.

"Thank you for doing this."

I looked at him.

"Dont mention it,please."

I looked outside the window,thinking of what was going to happen next.

Sorrrrrryyy.

I took a long long time.

I got so busy with collefe and everything.I will try to update more.

I apologise again😢😢.
