Chris's Pov-

The only thing left in my life that means a lot is my daughter.Katya was bothering us again.

She wanted Raiya to live with her.I cannot just give my daughter away to someone.I am her father.She cannot snatch her away from me.

I wish things would have been different.I cannot lose the custody.

Raiya was playing with Moose.She was giggling and laughing loudly.

My daughter seemed happy for the first time in a while.Our new neighbour surely had a good affect on her.She has been better at talking and smiling.

"Daddy?"

Raiya's voice suddenly interrupted my thoughts.

I looked at her.

"I am so happy Faith became our new neighbour.She is so nice.I am so happy after meeting her.She is also such a good teacher."

Yep.Our neighbour definitely had an effect on her.That was the most my daughter had spoken in the last one week.Since Katya came and..

"That's nice considering that.."

I could not finish my sentence.

There was a knock on the door.Who would it be at this moment.Raiya looked at me and shrugged.

I got up to see who was there to bother us at 10 pm.

The door opened and..

"Well hello little brother.Look who is here to see you and his favourite little niece.You look pathetic by the way."

Well.

If it is not my charming elder brother.

My brother was just a year older than me yet he acted like a teenager.

"Uncle Tristan."

Raiya ran and hugged him while Moose barked loudly.

"If it is not my shining ball of sunshine.I got so many chocolates and toys for you this time.Your dad must bore you to death all the time.Dont worry,uncle Tristan is here now."

He winked at me.

I shook my head.Tristan never failed to insult me.

"Daddy is not really boring uncle but you are right,you tell me better stories."

Raiya grinned at him and i rolled my eyes.

"Yep.Your daughter loves me more.Oh by the way,i will be staying for a while.Dont bother asking."

That is not at all typical.Tristan loves to crash once in a while.

He does not like staying in a one place.Considering his profession,it does comes in handy.He is a photographer.

"Yeah.Yeah.Make yourself comfortable and dont bother me.Raiya and Moose can totally entertain you."

"Oh well,its sorted then.I wont have to see your brooding face.Anyway,now that i am here,my niece can finally get to enjoy better company. "

Yeah.Sure.

"Hey come on lets get you to eat chocolates and baby bro,we will order take out."

He winked and carried Raiya upstairs along with his stuff.Moose followed.

I slumped back on the sofa.So much for peace.

But i am glad he is here.He can definitely help me with Katya.I hope he does not goes and murders her though.They never got along in the first place.

My brother looks rather serious on a first glance yet his humour is rather dangerous.Tristan has always been a smart mouth.He speaks less but his way with words makes people think twice before even talking to him.He has quite a temper too.

He loved insulting me though.He probably adores Raiya more than anyone in the family.

I saw outside the window.The light was up.I heard loud meowing.I smiled and shook my head.That cat was a handfull.

"Hey brother.I have ordered pepperoni pizza and some bread rolls for us.So if you have any complains..cook your own dinner."

He snorted and clumsly sat on the couch.I rolled my eyes.

"No one says no to pizza asshole.Anyway,how was your trip to India?"

"It was good.Refreshing.Did some yoga and got addicted to a yogini."

He winked.I snorted.Yep.Manwhore.

"I hope Rebecca kills you."

He smirked.

"She loves my dick too much to kill me and its not like we are in a commited relationship.Its exclusive baby bro.Rebecca knows it too."

Yeah.He is not the one to settle down.Why do i even bother?

"Oh,by the way Raiya was blabbering about your new pretty neighbour.I would love to introduce myself."

Of course he will.Though Faith did not seem to me to fall for his charms.She seemed too calm and quite in that way.

"Sure but dont be over annoying.She is normal unlike you."

He smirked.

"You are jealous you did not inherit my beautiful face."

Some times i wonder if he fell and hit his head or then i remember Tristan has always been a boasting idiot.

"Yeah and your blonde hair too."

I rolled my eyes at him.He just smirked.

"Katya dropped by?Did'nt she?"

I sighed.

"Raiya told you.Did not she?"

"She was affected.Its only you all the time and of course when her favourite uncle dropped by she had to share."

"You are her only uncle.Anyway,yeah.It was still the same.She shouted.I tried to calm her down.She wants Raiya too.She wants my daughter and i dont know what to do this time.She filed a case and the hearing will be in a month."

"I will put bullets in her head if she tries to even touch my niece.Nysa would probably diffuse some chemical on her and our parents well,Mom will chop her into pieces and dad would probably pay some one to dispose her off.Your ex mother in law is a bitch dude."

Nysa is our younger sister.She is a chemistry professor in a local university.

"Does it really matters?We might do something..but her case is strong.I fucked up dude.All of us know it."

I was a defeated guy.I was weak.

"You were not in your senses.No one would be after what you went through.Katya is just making the best of the situation.That manipulative witch.I wonder how Ivan tolerates her!"

Ivan was my ex-father in law.

"We will not let Raiya go.We still have a month until the final hearing.We will sort something out."

He was trying to assure me.I can see it but i know he was trying hard not to throw stuff here and there and then probably go kill Katya.

"Dadddy?"

We turned around to see Raiya with Moose.

"Umm.I wanted to meet Faith."

"Kid,its 11pm.She must be sleeping.You cannot disturb her at this time during the night.I let you stay awake because its not a school night .I spoil you way too much."

She groaned.

"Ugh dad.Uncle Tristan,lets play chess.Dad please can we?"

"Sweetie,its already very late.The food is going to arrive.You are going to eat and then hop off to bed.No chess tonight.Tommorow,as much as you want."

"And i will have to agree with your father on this."
Tris added.

Raiya sulked.

"Okay.Adults these days.."

She sulked and went upstairs.

"My niece is a fiesty one.She defintely did not inherit your personality.."

He stopped mid way.

I sighed.

"No,she did not."

We did not speak much after that.

Dinner was silent except for the few jokes made by Tris and Raiya gushing over his visits to different places.

I could not stop thinking about what could happen in a month.I tucked my daughter in bed.She was the only thing in my life that was keeping me sane.

Tristan was already passed out in one of the bedrooms.I took out the picture of my ex-wife from behind the bedstand and carassed it gently.

"Why did you have to hide all that?Why?"

I loved her.I still do.Her smile.Her eyes.Her hair.Raiya inherited everything of her mother.

Feeling overwhelmed,i placed the frame inside the drawer and went to my balcony.The lights in Faith's house were still up.

What could she be doing so late at night?She sleeps really late.
There was no noise coming from any where.The world was dead asleep.

Cold wind was blowing.Winter will be here soon.

I sighed and went inside my room,closing the balcony door behind me.

Getting into bed,i prayed the next day would bring something fresh in our lives.

At that time ,i did not realise some one had already heard my wishes and our breath of fresh air was near.Nearer than what i could have ever imagined.

Faith's Pov-

Placing the perfectly baked cake in the box,i sighed.I was bored.I still have no one to talk to here.I did be friend a few of my collegues here and there but that was it.Its been a month now since i moved here.

Georgia was new and lonely.For now.I do love the warmth of the small town.I am sure Canton is surely going to be home.The people were friendly and simple.Growing up in Memphis was not much different..this was just a small version.

I liked my new job.The kids were nice.I adore my little neighbour.

I looked at Jack,who purred in satisfaction as he licked his milk.I smiled.Baby boy.

"Dont cause ruckus while i am gone.I will be back in some time."

Jack looked up at me as if he understood me.I sighed,animals are better,we humans just dont give them more credit.

I took the box and locked the front door.

Chris's house seemed so quite.All the time.Not that mine was a wonderland but still.

I knocked at his door.

The door opened and an unfamiliar face graced my presence.

A guy scanned me from up to down.Brown hair.Green eyes.A little shorter than Chris.Oh,and this one definitely knew he had good looks,unlike the owner of this house.

"Woah,i did not know angels knock at my baby brother's door during mornings."

He smirked.

Ok.Chris's sibling.There was not much resemblence though.

Chris came from inside and pushed his brother aside.

"I am really sorry Faith.He can be annoying.Please,come inside."

"Brother,you wound me.Faith,I appreciate pretty girls and you are a very beautiful lady.I am Tristan,this no-life's big brother."

He winked at me.I shook my head.

These guys are polar opposites.

"Hie Tristan and you should definitely improve your flirting skills."

I smiled and gave the box to Chris,who snickered.

"You are mean,babe."

Tristan said and went to the some other room,leaving Chris and I alone.

"I am really sorry,again."

"You do not have to apologise.He is funny.Oh,and this is..umm i baked this .Raiya said she loved cakes and i.."

"Raiya does.Thanks.Come on.Lets dig in.Raiyaa!Raiya!.."

He shouted and Raiya came running.

"Hie Faith."

She smiled and hugged me.

Moose was lazily lying down in the corner.

"I brought cake."

She grinned widely.

"Thank you.Thank you for yet again saving me from dad's eww salad."

Chris shook his head.

"You become worse when your uncle visits."

She just smiled and pulled me inside.Chris followed us.

"I smell cake."

Tristan came and sat beside me.

"Faith brought cake for us."

Raiya grinned.

"Oh,she bakes too.Babes,you are perfect."

I sighed.It will take some time to get used to this.

"Thanks babesss.I promise not to poison your portion next time."

Chris laughed loudly from the kitchen.He definitely heard this.

"This cakes looks really good."





Chris smiled lightly at me.

Tristan got up and immediately took one piece and took a bite.

"Tastes even better.This is really good.Bake me a cake again,Will you?"

He winked at me.

Chris slapped his arm.

"Behave."

Raiya snorted and immediately took a portion for herself.

"This is so yum,Faith.Thank You so much.You know last time when dad tried to bake one.He ended up burning it."

She laughed.

Chris just shrugged.

"I am not really good at cooking."

He munched on his piece and gave me a nod of pleasure.

He seemed different today.Not the quite person he seems all the time.Less awkward too.

Maybe because his brother is here.The situation felt light.There was no tension in the surrounding.
I smiled to myself.

"Umm..ok.Thanks guys.I should go now.Jack and Fennel are alone and i am afraid Jack is on destruction mode since last night."

Tristan and Raiya were busy playing chess.

She jumped and hugged me.

"Thanks you coming and meeting me and bringing me a cake.Dont mind my uncle,he is an idiot.And please teach daddy how to bake."

She kissed my cheek and i laughed.

"I can bake you a cake anytime,princess.Now i should go.It was nice meeting you guys."

Chris smiled and dropped me till the front gate while Tristan groaned that i should not leave him.

Drama Queen.

"Hey,umm thanks and sorry for Tris.He is just.."

I laughed lightly.

"Thats ok.He is entertaining.Thank you.See you later."

I waved and went to my house.I looked back to see Chris standing and talking on his phone now.

He seemed tensed.

I hope everything is fine.

Well i sure do hope things are fine.
