ten. the date

chapter ten!

the date!

ANDY WAS CURRENTLY OUTSIDE OF JULIE'S HOUSE, FEELING nervous. Knocking on the door, it swung open, revealing Julie's dad. "Evening, Mr. Molina."

"Good evening, Andy. Julie, Andy's here!" The said girl was in her room as Flynn and Paula were helping her get ready for the date. Her hair was in a ponytail and she was wearing a short yellow spaghetti strap dress with white converse. "How do I look?"

"You look so pretty! Andy is going to swoon when he sees you."

"You really think so?"

"Julie, I'm friends with him. He's going to be speechless. Also you look great!" Julie smiled, "Thanks, guys. I should head downstairs now, my dad just told me that Andy's here. See you later!"

"Jules, wait!" Julie turned around, noticing Flynn holding a small purse. "Right! My bag, how could I forget?"

"It has your lip gloss, some mints, tissue, and your phone."

"Thanks, Flynn. Wait, mints? Why do I need mints?"

"Mints are essential for kissing someone. I looked it up online." Paula stated. "Kissing? I don't know if me and Andy are going to do that yet. I'm still waiting for the right time."

"It'll happen when the time is right. Now, go or you're going to be late! Send us pictures!" Paula stated, causing Julie to roll her eyes. The girl walked down the stairs, wearing a wide smile when she saw Andy. Andy's jaw dropped, "Wow."

"Is that a good wow or a bad wow?"

"A good wow. You look beautiful, Molina. Also I got you these." Andy handed her a bouquet of flowers, causing the girl to gasp. "These are so pretty! Thank you, Andy!" she exclaimed, hugging him. "You're welcome, sunshine."

"They grow up so fast.  Come, come! Let me take a few pictures, mi amor!" her aunt stated, taking out a camera.  The two teens posed for their photos, letting a sigh of relief when she was finished.  "Thanks, tía.  But we should start leaving now.  See you guys later!"

"Bye, Julie!"

Andy and Julie walked next to each other, away from their houses. "So what are we doing for our date?"

"Well, first, we're going to see Teen Beach Movie in the theaters. After that, I have a surprise for you."

"Can you at least give me a hint?"

"Nope."

"Not even a little?"

"Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise. What are you- please don't give me that look, sunshine." Julie was doing the puppy eyes, causing Andy to sigh. "I'm not telling you."

"Oh come on! It usually works."

THE TWO ARRIVED AT THE MOVIE THEATER, getting some popcorn, water, and tickets. They took their seats as the film started to roll. Julie bopped her head to some of the songs as Andy glanced at her. "What?"

"Nothing. You're just really cute." Julie's cheeks flushed, causing her to smile. "You're so sweet, grumpy."

"Only for you, sunshine." Once the movie ended, the two walked out of the theater, holding hands. "Now can you tell me what the surprise is?"

"No, you'll see when we get there." Julie wore a blindfold as she linked her arm with Andy's. "Can I take this off now?"

"Not yet. We're almost there." The two stopped walking, causing Andy to smile. "You can take off the blindfold now." Julie did what she was told, only to gasp at the sight of a picnic. "You set this up for me?"

"I had some help but yes. Do you like it?"

"Like it? I love it! Thank you, Andy!" Andy's cheeks flushed as she held his hand. "No problem." The boy lead them to the blanket which had a basket full of food and drinks. The two sat down as Andy took out some sandwiches, fruit, and sodas. As they ate their food, he noticed some crumbs on her face. "Hang on." His thumb touched her cheek as he wiped some crumbs off. "You had some food there."

"Thanks." Julie couldn't help but think about what Flynn and Paula had told her earlier. The thing was she wanted to kiss him but she didn't know if he wanted to yet. "Are you okay, Molina?"

"No, actually. I've been thinking about this for a bit but I was wondering if you wanted to kiss?" Andy swallowed his food, staring at her. "As in on the lips?" Julie nodded her head, "I mean, it's up to you. If you don't want to, it's fine."

"I want to kiss you too. We should probably do that after we finish eating?"

"Yeah. I have mints so we're good." The two finished their meal as Julie smiled. "That was delicious."

"It was. My sister helped me with the sandwiches, actually."

"Well, tell her I said thank you."

"I'll be sure to do that." Julie took out some mints, handing some to him. As she placed some in her mouth, she quickly applied some lip gloss. Once the mints melted, Andy stared at her. "Do you want to kiss here or do you want to stand?"

"I think standing would be better." The two stood up, walking onto the grass. Julie cupped his cheeks as their noses touched. Andy eventually closed the gap between them, kissing her lips. As Julie kissed back, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer.  The two eventually broke the kiss, looking at each other.  "How was that?" Andy asked.  "It was good.  Do you want to do that again?"

"You don't have to tell me twice." The two kissed once more, this time, Andy's hands were intertwined with Julie's.  They stopped kissing, pressing their foreheads together.  "I'm so happy to have you as my boyfriend."

"And I'm so happy to have you as my girlfriend."

"You know, we're kind of like Belly and Conrad.  Except without the whole having two brothers fighting over me part."

"I'm sorry, who?"

"You really need to read a romance novel."

"Do I?" he teased, causing Julie to playfully roll her eyes.  "I stand by what I said before.  You're a dork."

"And you love my dorkiness."

"Okay, that's true.  But we probably start heading home.  It's getting a bit cold."  The two packed up the picnic, now walking out of the park.  Andy took off his jacket, placing it on Julie's shoulders.  "Thanks, grumpy."

"No problem, sunshine."

Talk about best first date ever.

Maya Speaks 💫:

They are so cute 😭 The way Andy softens up when she's around him??? Give me a guy who can do that please 🙏🏾 (I've been waiting for too long I need some romantic stuff to happen to me NEOW)

They're so high school coded except Julie is "you know how to ball" and Andy is "I know Aristotle" (Andy would be super supportive of her at her concerts, it's confirmed. Also Julie would definitely write songs about him - please please please would definitely be one of them 😭 like you can't tell me that she wouldn't sing that about him 🧍🏾‍♀️)
