chapter six!

grounded!

ANDY ABSOLUTELY DID NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON Julie, that would be crazy! So when Paula texted him that Flynn told her that Julie was grounded, he went over to her house to check on her.  Knocking on the front door, it swung open, revealing a very confused Carlos.  "Andy? What are you doing here? It isn't Wednesday yet."

"I came to check on your sister.  Apparently she's grounded?"

"Yeah, our dad found out that she's been missing some of her classes."

"What? I didn't know that." Andy stated as he went inside.  "Julie's up in her room.  I have to warn you though, there's a chance she might be talking to herself."

"Okay? See you later, Carlos." Andy walked up the stairs, eventually stopping in front of a door.  He knocked on it, hearing footsteps.  "Who is it?"

"It's me, Molina." Julie opened the door, looking at him.  "Andy, hi.  What are you doing here?"

"Paula told me that Flynn told her that you got grounded.  Why didn't you tell me you missed class? I would've covered for you."

"I didn't want you to worry."

"Julie, you're my friend.  Of course, I'm going to worry."  Julie sat on her bed, gesturing for Andy to do the same.  A phone notification was heard, causing Julie to take out her phone.  "Nick just sent me a picture.  It's so funny! See?"  Andy looked at the photo, furrowing his eyebrows.  "Why is he wearing that? He looks like he's in a sitcom from the 70s."

The comment made Julie laugh, causing Andy's cheeks to flush.  Her laugh was so pretty, it made the gap in her teeth more noticeable which was cute about her in his eyes.  "Andy, are you okay? You zoned out for a minute there."

"Yeah, I'm fine." Julie stared at him, causing the boy to look at her.  "You're staring at me again."

"I was just wondering... have you ever smiled before? I've never really seen you smile before."

"Why? Do you want to see me smile, Molina?"

"Maybe?"

"That sounded more of a question than an answer."

"Just- hang on." Julie spoke to Luke, Alex, and Reggie, who convinced her to sneak out to do a show with them.  "Are you sure you want to do this? I can stay here and cover for you if you want."

"Andy, I'm sure.  Plus, I want you to see me perform."

"Careful, Molina.  It sounded like you were almost going to call me a friend." Andy joked, causing Julie to roll her eyes. "We are friends, Ramirez. Anyways, I need to change so you need to go. I'll be out in a minute."

"Okay. See you soon, Julie." As Andy climbed out the window, he almost fell. Taking out his phone, he decided to text Paula.

Andy heard a window opening, causing him to turn around. "Uh... Andy? Can you help me?" Julie whispered, causing the boy to look at her and almost forgot what he was going to say. "Just walk a bit closer." he whispered as she did so. "Okay... you're going to have to hold onto my shoulders." She placed her hands on his shoulders as he lifted her up by her waist. Placing her next to him, he looked at her. "Thanks."

"No problem. You look really pretty." Andy's jaw dropped, his eyes widening.  "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said-"

"Andy, it's fine.  Thank you."  The two realized they were still holding each other, causing Andy to stop holding her waist and Julie to stop holding his shoulders.  "We should probably go."

"Yeah.  After you, Molina."

"Why thank you, Ramirez."

JULIE AND ANDY ARRIVED AT THE CAFE, greeting Paula and Flynn.  "Am I too late?" Julie asked, causing Flynn to shake her head. "Too early." Paula smiled, looking at Julie's outfit. "I like your dress."

"Thank you, Paula! It was my mom's."

"Yeah, Jules. It's really cute." Paula nudged Andy, "Aren't you going to say something?"

"I did earlier."

"What did you say?"

"I'm not telling you." Paula glared at him, causing the boy to roll his eyes. "Fine. I said she looked pretty." he whispered. Paula smirked, "See? I told you that you like her." Just when Andy was going to say something, Carrie's group began to perform. As they danced, Paula couldn't help to talk. "You know, for someone pretty mean, she can make pretty good music."

"That's true." After Carrie's group performed, they walked off the stage, facing the four. "I'm not gonna lie. That was... kind of good."

"Yeah. I kind of forgot why I hate her so much." The pink haired girl placed her hands on her hips, "Hey, girls. Um, isn't it past your bedtime?"

"Um, Carrie, I think Descendants just called and they want their hair back." Paula stated, causing the girl to roll her eyes. "If you're looking for Nick, he didn't come."

"That's not why I'm here." Julie stated, as the announcer spoke. He got their name wrong, calling them Julie and the Fat Ones. Julie walked on stage, sitting at the piano. "Just to clarify, we're called Julie and the Phantoms." As she started to sing and play the piano, the boys appeared, making the crowd cheer. "They're amazing!" Paula exclaimed. "That's my friend! Go, Julie!" Flynn cheered. Andy clapped his hands as the song ended. Julie squealed, jogging up to the three. "You were incredible!"

A talent agent was walking up to the group, introducing themselves. "Hi, I'm Andi Parker, I would-"

"Julie." Julie's dad stated, causing Flynn and Paula to look shocked. "Dad."

"It's time to go. You too, Andy." Julie and Andy said goodbye to Paula and Flynn, eventually catching up to Julie's dad.

"So what gave you two the great idea of sneaking out and not telling me or Delia about it?" Julie's dad asked them. "Look, we're sorry, Dad. But this deal could've changed me and the band's lives. Sneaking out was my idea."

"I'm sorry too, Mr. Molina. But Julie and her band were going to perform and I didn't want to miss it. I should've at least told my sister about this." Julie's dad sighed, "Look, it's great that you two are now friends and all but next time, tell us where you're going or what you're doing. Do you understand?"

"Yes, dad."

"Yes, Mr. Molina."

"Delia, anything you want to say to your brother?" The woman shook her head, "No. I think he understands. Come on, Andy."

"Bye, Mr. Molina. Bye, Julie."

"Goodnight, Andy!" Julie and her dad exclaimed. Andy and Delia closed the door behind themselves, now walking home. "Does this mean that I'm grounded?"

"No, you're not. What you did for Julie was really sweet. Just please tell me where you are next time. I was starting to get worried."

"Don't worry I will... Um, Del?"

"Yeah, Andy?"

"How do you know if you're starting to like someone?"

"Like in a friend way or in a more than a friend way?"

"I don't know. I started noticing Julie's smile, her laugh, I even thought she looked pretty. Wait, actually, she's always pretty."

"Andy, you like her in a more than a friend way. I was hoping this day would come."

"Wait, really? So that means... I have a crush on her?"

"I was right, you were wrong!"

"I hate you."

"I love you too, baby bro."
