my kind of rebirth tasted like blood
THE FIRST TWO DAYS with the Winchester's went completely fine; they had one ghost hunt, the rest of the time was filled with them catching up with one another.
But, day three was when shit hit the fan.
They had one job as hunters; to watch their backs. And to watch and protect each other. But, they had just wanted to celebrate their job well done, and seeing as Dean had missed Maddie's graduation, he thought it was time they celebrated it together.
And then it happened.
While they were drinking, getting tipsy, and dancing around with music blasting loudly in the speakers in the bar, a group of vampires found their way inside.
They had been tracking down Madelyn for some time now, and one of their own had spotted her out with the Winchester's, and of course, when found they opportunity, they striked.
Maddie gasped awake. Her head was ringing, but she ignored it as best as she could, surveying the area with her blurry sight. She was tied to a post in the middle of a circle — no, a sigil of some sort. It had spirals inside the circle probably drawn by chalk, and they were all leading toward her. There was jars of blood on each point around the circle, and a candle was lit on both ends.
"What the fuck?" She slurred, wincing. She was no longer tipsy, that was sure. But, she probably has a concussion with how hard her head had been slammed into a mirror.
She faintly remembers making her way into the bathroom at the bar, she was dancing and singing to herself. She was having an amazing time with Sam and Dean; they were throwing a party for a hunting job done well and a late graduation celebration.
She had used the bathroom, stepped out of the stall, and was immediately attacked. She was thrown, kicked, and cut by multiple sharp blades that had seemed to come out of nowhere. She fought back, of course she did, she's a Winchester afterall. But it wasn't enough. There was too many attackers. She was kicked in the gut at the same time as her hair was pulled and a third pair of hands found their way to her neck to strangle her.
She used her free hands and pushed her thumbs into one of their eyes, pushing is hard until she felt the eyes pop. Blood seeped out. He was screaming in pain on the floor, and she used the shock as an advantage to knock the other two guys off of her. But, then another showed up. He grabbed her roughly by her hair and shoved her face so hard into one of the bathroom mirrors. Then darkness took over.
Now, her head was pounding, face stinging, neck felt raw, and her stomach was aching. She could feel some dried blood along her face, neck, hands, and stomach.
Someone taking could be heard behind her.
"Show yourself, asshat!" Maddie shouted, throat aching. She coughed, feeling overwhelmed.
"For someone who got their ass handed to them, you sure are demanding." A guy stepped out in front of her with a knife; one of the asshole from the bathroom. Two long and red marks was across his face, from one eyebrow and down to his jaw.
She smirked at the mark. "Huh. I think my scratch marks makes your face look better."
"You filthy bitch!" He shouted and launched forward, knife to her throat.
It was nearly impossible to move. To do anything other than stare up at the bastard as he stood over her, knife glinting in his hand.
Maddie hated not even being able to move. Bound too tight.
"We're not going to kill you, you know," he said, soothingly almost. He caressed the knife along her jaw, grinning when he heard her intake of breath. "You're not for us."
"Us?" Maddie asked, heart pounding loudly in her chest. Calm down, she told herself. Just think. Look for exits, anything.
He smirked, stepping back, letting the knife lightly knick her as he did so. "Us," he stated, and just like that, two of the men from the bathroom stepped out of the shadows directly behind him.
She tilted her head, studying them. "Awe. Could the other one not join? I wonder what happened to him." She chuckled at their angry expressions.
"You won't be laughing whenever she shows up." The one she had bit in the bathroom fight narrowed his eyes at her. The bite mark could be seen on his shoulder. She had been hard enough to leave a mark and a bruise that was red and angry.
"Who's she?"
Instead of being answered, the guys' necks were suddenly snapped, and their bodies fell ungracefully to the ground.
Wind picked up, a faint whistling noise could be heard. And then a woman was walking very gracefully out of the shadows. Her long red hair blowing behind her. Her bright green eyes were set on Maddie, sending tingles throughout her body.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." The redheaded woman didn't even glance down at the bodies as she stepped over them like they weren't even there. "A pretty young thing, you are." She stepped closer to Maddie; the scent of cherries and vanilla taking over her senses. The woman grinned, her lips layered with bright red lipstick. She held out a perfectly manicured hand; red nail polish, and slowly lifted Maddie's head up with her pointer finger. "Sadly it won't last long."
Maddie shook her head, making the woman drop her finger from her chin. "Who are you?" She glared up at the redheaded woman.
"Who am I?" The woman laughed, the noise echoing throughout the abandoned building. Vines and flowers crawled up the walls, taking over the ceiling. "Who am I?" She continued laughing, amusement dancing in her piercing green eyes as she noticed Maddie only growing more annoyed. "You don't know?" She tsked again and stepped out of the sigil, laughter lines and amusement immediately leaving her face. "Well... it won't matter who I am when you'll be dead soon."
"Why do you want me then?!" Maddie shouted as she began struggling. Her eyes widened when the woman simply snapped her fingers and the candles lit up bright on each end of the circle. And other candles that wasn't lit before, was. There was about two dozen candles lit around the room now. Maddie could spot a shrine behind the woman, revealing a carving of a woman with vines growing around her body, her arms out at her sides as she seemed to have fire levitate from her hands. "What the fuck is going on?!"
The woman crossed her arms and tilted her head, studying the younger girl. "Have you ever heard of the Scarlet Witch?" She rose her perfectly pluck eyebrows. Before Maddie could even answer her, she began to walk around the circle, heels clicking along the concrete floor. "She's supposedly a very powerful witch, born with an immense power." Her eyes narrowed in what looked like jealousy and hatred. "For so long, I thought I was her. I studied, did everything I could. I sold my soul and everything to have this immense power. But nothing!" Her green eyes zeroed in on the younger redhead. "Then... you were born."
Maddie's eyes widened in surprise and confusion. "Me?! I have no power! I am just—"
"There's never been strange occurrences that have happened around you that you can't explain?" The woman asked, looking annoyed with the younger girl.
Maddie shook her head, but then her mind flashed back to the time she had a breakdown in her room and her snow-globe shattered. She also remembered hearing a faint shattering noise when she had a panic attack in a restaurant in front of Sam and Dean.
"You've never had someone try to get into your mind and be hurt? You've never had someone say that your mind is just static or... red?"
Maddie's chest began heaving up and down in panic. Was what this crazy woman saying, true? Because she remembered Edward saying that her mind is just static to his ears, she remembers how Jasper cant effect her emotions. She remembers how Jane turned her power of pain on her and it took time to kick in, and then went away faster than it should be possible.
"Hmm," the woman hummed, looking the teenager up and down. "Was this before or after you turned eighteen?"
Maddie blinked rapidly. "What?"
The woman rolled her eyes, clicking her tongue on the roof of her mouth. "The rumor is that the Scarlet Witch gets her full abilities at the age of eighteen. So..."
Maddie continued blinking at the older woman, mouth opening and closing. "Be—before?" She framed it as a question. There has always been weird occurrences since she turned sixteen. She remembers having a hunting job that involved a half-vamp that was also half-ghoul. It was made in some weird experiment. It had tried to bite her, but began foaming at the mouth before dropping dead. Sam and Dean came to a conclusion that it was just it's time to die because it wasn't suppose to exist, so she let it roll of her shoulders. But now, maybe it had something to do with whatever this crazy woman was saying.
"The Scarlet Witch is said to be either the downfall of all supernaturals or the queen..." the woman pursed her lips. "And I will not let some silly, un-taught teenager be known as something as beautiful and extravagant as the Scarlet Witch. I simply will not. So... I plan on sucking the powers out of you, into me."
"But I'm not a witch!" Maddie screamed at the woman. The candles around the room lit up brightly, the flames flaring up a few inches before settling. The young hunger stuttered, eyes looking around the room at the candles. "What the..."
The woman scoffed and flicked her hands, the jars of blood started shaking; the blood began to travel up out of the jars as the woman stepped into the sigil. The blood went around the circle like a snake, almost making a shield to the outside of the circle.
"The lesson is over. Let's begin."
The woman reached forward, grabbing each side of Maddie's head, wind picking up, blowing leaves and flowers around. Both of their heads flung backwards, eyes rolling in the back of their heads, only the white part of their eyes were noticeable.
Things began to shake violently, and a bright red aura began to leave Maddie's mouth as it opened on its own. She was thrashing in her place, somehow still fighting even in this trance.
A bright red aura wrapped around them, and then the woman was screaming as the red aura started to seep into her.
Maddie screamed in pain, her body thrashing more violently, skin slowly turning into a grey color. Her cheeks seemed to be sinking in.
The life was leaving her body.
And then a gunshot rung throughout the room, and then hands around Maddie's face went away. The woman screamed in pain and shock, her green eyes snapping onto Maddie's slumped form. Then, more gunshots rung.
The blood that had been teleporting around them slung into both redhead women. But, it didn't cover them; it seemed back into the wounds that were on their bodies.
You see, the woman had two large cuts on her arms that she had inflicted on herself for this ritual. And the cuts on Maddie's body wasn't only caused by the vampires that she had used to collect the young girl, no, she had gave Maddie the diagonal cut on her stomach, also for the ritual.
As the older woman's body began to decay right on the spot, the red aura seemed to slam into Maddie. Harshly. The younger girls eyes snapped open. Her mouth opened and she was lifted out of the binds, into the air. Color returned to her body, her cheeks filled out, and surprisingly, the wounds on her body began to repair themselves.
She screamed in not only pain, but fear.
A burst of red lashed out, knocking everything backwards as if a tornado had arrived. The woman's body disintegrated, and the Winchesters were knocked back, making them hit the wall harshly and get knocked out.
Maddie's body fell to the floor, she landed in what Dean would call a superhero landing, tears tracking down her face. Her breathing was unstable and she looked up at the room that she was in, noticing the dead bodies, the woman's body gone, and her brothers knocked out.
Glancing down, she saw the last bit of red aura seep into her hands, and she began to cry, curling into herself.
"What the hell am I?"
