Chapter 6

"And the award ... for Album of the Year ... goes to ..."

Between their small entourage of six, Bobbi was positive only her date retained the ability to breathe in that moment. Even Alex broke character and seemed just as frozen as the rest of them, her eyes glued to the announcer as she took her precious time with her one responsibility for the night.

A cloud of complete uncertainty and anticipation hung over their heads for the first time all night and none of them were handling it very well. From the outside, and according to the sight of themselves up on the screen with for fellow nominees, they remained calm, cool and collected. Bobbi could feel the nerves that ran through each of the boys and pulsed loudly in her own ears as they waited with baited breath. She was only aware of how tightly she was holding onto Alfie's hand when he suddenly let go and jumped from his seat, a wave of noise crashing down upon them all.

"The Wild Wallflowers! For 'When Green Met Blue'!"

It took an extra tug on her arm for Bobbi to finally stand from her seat. She wasn't even fully aware of what had actually just happened until she was suddenly up on stage, standing in front of a microphone and a standing ovation with a golden record player weighing heavy in her hand.

Alex and Aaron were cheering along with the rest of the crowd and Aaron even let out a high pitched whistle. Bobbi barely noticed him and not even a thought of how she should have interacted with him before taking the stage even crossed her mind. It had no room as she brain was working double time to try and remember how to speak.

The boys stood on the edge of her vision and with a slight turn in their direction, they became her main focus. The presenter and her accompanying model stood just beyond but there was no one else in the room in Bobbi's eyes. Alfie gave her a nod to the microphone and a sense of her responsibility peaked through the haze of amazement.

"Wow." Was the first thing she could think to say. Her eyes only flipped between the award in her hands and her co-conspirators as she tried to collect her words. Years of experience as the unofficial front man helped her along.

"I honestly can't believe this is actually happening. I've practiced this speech in my shower at least once a week since I was ten and I seem to be at a complete lose for words."

A subtle wave of laughter helped ease the tension growing in her shoulders but a scream from the crowd that started a tidal wave of support from the balcony above threw that away and spread a smile on her face.

"YEAH BOBBI!"

"Thank you, Rosie. I would like to thank our producers for helping us make this record. It was an honor working with all of you. Thank you for sticking by us and helping make our vision a reality."

She didn't realize she was smiling until her cheeks started to ache.

"I, of course, want to thank our label. For letting four kids from Boston live our dream. I would also thank our fans but Sam already did that so eloquently and I think I would start to cry if I did. You guys know how much we love you and how important you are to this whole operation. We would not be here without you."

Bobbi caught Alfie's mouthing Alex's name and she gave him a quick nod of recognition.

"Of course, our management. How you guys put up with us, I'm not quite sure. But we're appreciate your patience and understanding. You guys seem to have our best interest at heart. Alex, you are an angel in a business suit and we love you."

There was a timer in the back of the room clicking down the seconds she had left to speak her piece. It didn't help the adrenal pulsing through her veins so Bobbi diverted her gaze instead back down to the glimmering gold she held in her hands.

A flash of all the hours, days, weeks, blood, sweat, tears, all the work, everything they fought for through the years to reach that point, to earn their place on that stage, it all flashed across her mind within an instant. Three things remained constant throughout all of it and Bobbi lifted her eyes to meet theirs. Only then did the sting of tears threaten her eye makeup once again. The boys were staring right back and her overwhelming sense of love, pride and pure happiness was reflected on each of their faces.

She finally spoke after meeting eyes with Alfie, then Sam and finally daring to land on Theo, were they stayed. His bright green eyes stared back.

"And I want to thank these three boys, right here, most of all. They are everything to me. They are all I'll ever need in this life. And I love them all so dearly. I don't know who I would be without them. And I hope I never have to find out."

Bobbi held the award high over her head and the crowd once again erupted in cheers.

"Thank you so much!"

**********

Bobbi stood beaming and breathless on the tallest amp, a solid six feet off the ground. She had her mic pointed out to the ground, though they needed no help amplifying their voices as they sang out the last verse. Only Sam's drum beat pulsed through the speakers as Alfie freed up his hands to start the audience clapping. They did as commanded and a sea of hands rose above their heads, all moving in perfect synchronicity.

Bobbi finally tore her eyes from the sight when Sam's drums finished out the song and she heard her name coming from down below instead of out in front. Theo stood at the base of the speakers, his hand out stretched to help her down. The two of them joined Alfie and Sam where they stood center stage and filled out the foursome. The cries only grew, encouraging a second and third bow. The sound filled the air, rising high up to the ceiling, the top balcony joining in with the rest of the sold-out venue.

"Thank you, Charleston! You've been amazing!"

Bobbi threw one more wave out to the screaming crowd, their shouts only following her off stage as she followed Theo's retreating form. Once past the black curtain, she quicken her step, hurrying down the hallway towards the green room, passing not only the rest of the band, but nearly running straight into Issac and Joe.

"Watch out there, kid."

Tommy's light-toned warning barely reached Bobbi's eyes, the heavy door creating a barrier between them as she entered the green room. Alex stood waiting with a water bottle and a wash cloth for each of them and there lapsed a small lag between Bobbi's retrieval and the rest of the bands. Alex didn't even bother to speak and Bobbi didn't give her the chance, her energy driving her towards the furthest corner, already rearing to head back out. She had her hair up in a ponytail and out of her face by the time Alfie led Theo and Sam into the room.

"Bob. Seriously-"

"We're not doing this ow, Alf. I've gotta go."

She saw his readied argument at the tip of his tongue, his brows creased and his arms crossed over his chest. The hint of an expression Alex was wearing seemed to almost mirror his but the faint light in the room and her boundless energy kept Bobbi from reading to far into something she could barely see in the reflection of the room mirror.
Half of her water bottle flowed down her throat as she hurried back towards the door.

"Bobbi! Listen-"

The entire conversation she saw eminent ran through her head, surely a repeat of their same discussion from earlier in the day, but Bobbi's reserve had only strengthened with the energy in the crowd. Nothing out of Alfie's mouth was going to keep her from heading back out.

"Really, Bobbi. Please just listen-"

Alex's contribution to the conflict barely slipped through the door as Bobbi made sure to slam it behind her as she dove right back into the flow of backstage traffic. She kept her pace quick, making sure to keep out of the way of the hurrying crew that dominated the area, teams rushing back and forth from the stage to prepare for the 7 Ships set.

She had refused to let her smile falter in the green room and it only grew as she nodded at the familiar crew that rushed past. The sight of the large crowd cheering for her and the boys when they had first stepped out on stage forced her lips bright and did an excellent job keeping it alit, her cheeks quickly starting to aching, then going numb with no sight of a rest. All tension had melted from her shoulders the minute the lights had come up and their set started.

She exchanged a quick "Have a great show" and "Good luck out there" with Jay and Tommy respectively as they stood just behind the black curtain keeping them out of sight of the crowd. A hand grabbed her elbow just as her hand grabbed hold of the door. Only then did she realize somehow had been calling her name.

"Bobbi! Seriously! Wait!"

Theo was almost out of breath once he reached her.

"What is it, Theo? I've gotta go-"

"You and Alfie really need to talk. This is ridiculous!"

"And you think tonight is the night to hash all this out? You guys have got work to do. Come get me when it's time to leave."

Bobbi turned back again to head out into the lobby. But she didn't get a foot further before Theo grabbed her arm again.

"Bobbi! Knock it off! You've got work to do too!"

Bobbi kept her body facing forward, only allowing her head to turn in Theo's direction.

"Yeah, and locking me up in a room, forcing me to write while everyone else is actually being productive is really how this whole thing works. If Alfie has a problem with me actually being an active member of this team, tell him to take it up with Alex. She seems to have everything under control. Maybe she can even manage get him to shut up."

Bobbi wrenched her arm from Theo's grip and hurried out to the door.

The sight of the lobby nearly bursting forth with waiting fans helped Bobbi's mood to elevate back up to the ledge Theo's words had dragged it down from. Bobbi sent out a wave to the few faces that lit up once they spotted her and took her place behind the table. She gave a brief nod to her two companions, the lead singer for the local opening band sending back a full blown smirk while the familiar member of the 7 Ships entourage simply replied with a brief nod.

The massive energy of the crowd had a great deal to do with the first openers and the blonde on her right had plenty of interested fans to interact out with as Bobbi focused on her own line. His cheesy lines, certainly accompanied with his signature smirk and a wink Bobbi caught out of the corner of her eye, helped keep a smile on Bobbi's face. She channeled all her energy trying not to laugh at the ridiculous happening beside her into interacting with the mass of fans queued at the front of her table, a line that seemed to never end.

Even as the lights inside the ballroom dimmed and the screams started up again at full force once music started to pulse once again through the speakers, Bobbi's crowd stayed strong. The 7 Ships representative was already working on packing up his own merchandise and the local rockstar was milking his last gaggle of blondes when Bobbi finally spotted the end of her line.

With one last signature on a cd and a band poster, Bobbi's tired smile looked up and found only one last couple waiting.
Standing just a few feet back, the girl, seeming just about Bobbi's age, only approached once the line was officially diminished. The local rockstar's words suddenly grew in volume and his enthusiasm peaked, garnering a squeal from his admirers. The sound caused a look of sheer confusion upon Bobbi's face as she actually turned in his direction. She was surprised his eyes weren't on her as she had felt since she had taken her spot. Instead he was trying to not eye the girl taking her place in front of Bobbi along with the tall guy acting as her date. Rockstar was failing and the girl seemed genuinely annoyed by his presence before replacing the expression with pure excitement.

"Hi! How's it going?" Bobbi initiated their interaction, her dwindling energy immediately buoyed by the girl's out burst of excitement.

"Oh my gosh! Hi, Bobbi! I'm a huge fan!"

"Wow! Thanks! Thanks for coming out to see us."

"Of course! I wouldn't have missed it for the world! I used to follow you guys when I lived back in New York and I was so stoked when I found out you guys were actually coming to Charleston. Thank God someone good finally stopped by."

The girl's dark hair and darkened clothes, starkly contrasting the tan blondes and pastel covered uniform of her peers Bobbi had seen through out the crowd, made sense now.

"I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Thanks for sticking around. You want a cd or something?"

Bobbi grabbed the requested band poster and cd, uncapping her pen as she leaned over in preparation to sign them.

"What was your name again?"

"Annie Smith."

"Here you go then!"

Annie gave another exclamation of excitement and gratitude before grabbing the hand of her tall date, his interest seeming only in his companion as Bobbi recognized the glint in his eyes.

As they were the only occupants left in the lobby, Bobbi reached down for a box just as they disappeared out of sight. Standing back up, her intent to start packing up all the merchandise, her efforts were blocked as the local had planted himself against the corner of her table.

"Hey. How's it going? I'm Charlie, lead singer of Bass Hampton."

"Bobbi."

Her whole face, expression and manner spoke piss off, as it always did around guys like this in these situations. But Charlie seemed incapable of picking up what Bobbi was trying to chuck at his head.

"You guys put on a good show. I mean, we definitely helped warm up the crowd for you. The locals go freaking crazy whenever we get the chance to play. It helps being the biggest alternative-rock-folk-scream-o band this far south, I guess."

Bobbi's look of complete confusion was thick in her voice.

"Uh, thanks, then, I guess."

"So. You wanna go get a drink or something?"

Apparently Bobbi's attempt to maneuver around him and try to get some work done did little to sway his determination to hit on her. She dropped her box down hard on the table and the sound startled Charlie enough to get him up and off her table. Finally.

"Yeah, no. I'm good. See, I'm actually on tour and I have to drive to Nashville tonight. My local band actually made it
somewhere. But good luck with yours."

Charlie's first hint of a stunned look disappeared before it had a chance to land as his posse called for his attention.
Walking backwards towards where their little clique stood waiting to leave, Charlie's swagger and smirk were, once again, in full force.

"Too bad. We could've had some fun."

Bobbi shook her head and focused instead on the job before her as she muttered under her breath.

"Sure. Keep thinking that, kid."

"He's not wrong, you know?"

Bobbi's attention was once again diverted from her job as her other companion appeared at her side and finally stood underneath proper lighting.

The dark hair and brown eyes sparked recognition in Bobbi's brain. That spark, paired with the absolute uncanny resemblance he held, finally put the pieces together in her brain while it seemed as if Issac himself stood before her.

"You really think a night out with a guy the likes of him sounds like fun?"

Bobbi's quick wit covered up her sudden wave of recognition and had the guy laughing lightly before she had come to grips with just who he was.

"Forrest Williams. I'm Jay's brother. We haven't been formally introduced."

Bobbi grabbed his extended hand and shook, her box and all other responsibilities flitting from her mind.

"Bobbi Harris. And no, we have not."

"And that Chuck was right. Your band killed it out there tonight."

"Oh. Thanks. I'm a bit more inclined to believe you since you are a blood relative to the greatest drummer currently living and hopefully not a major member of an 'alternative-rock-folk-scream-o' band, whatever the hell that's suppose to mean."

Forrest laughed again and Bobbi noted the nice way his eyes shone when he did. She thanked the dim lighting installed
in the lobby as it hopefully kept the slight pink she felt raising in her cheeks from giving her away.

"I am not. And I can say with confidence I have never heard of that genre before."

"Yeah, not gonna lie, I don't think anyone else has either. Sounds like a title that Charlie kid gave his music as an excuse to keep producing the same kind of crap they performed."

"You are probably right."

Bobbi let herself lean against the table, mirroring Forrest's own comfortable stance.

"So. How long are you on tour?"

"I've got merch duty until Cleveland and then it's back to Boston."

"Oh yeah. That's right. You guys are from there too."

Forrest nodded.

"Yup. Born and raised. How-"

The rest of Forrest's question was drowned out as Bobbi's attention was immediately grabbed by Theo's voice ringing through the room. Her head whipped towards the front door, where he came bursting through. His face turned hard half a second after his eyes swept across the room and landed on her, his sight then flicking to where Forrest stood just a few inches from Bobbi.

"Bobbi! Time to go!"

He hurried across the room, immediately grabbing the cardboard box Bobbi had abandoned and started to resume what Bobbi should have been doing. The brief moment between her and Forrest was dispersed permanently when two large crew members appeared out of the door leading back stage and hurried their way to grab Forrest's already packed-up merchandise.

"Well, then. I guess I'll see you around." He gave Bobbi a small wave, grabbing his own box and flashing her one last smile before disappearing out the back door.

Bobbi's eyes had barely returned to center, having followed Forrest out, before Theo was nudging her out of the way and finishing her job.

"Come on. We've got to get going."

His words came out hard and Bobbi saw no room to say anything in return. With two sets of capable hands, they were packed up and ready to go in a matter of minutes. Bobbi followed Theo out towards the back parking lot, spotting their van ready and waiting.

All instruments were properly stowed away and even all the bags appeared to be neatly packed up and ready to go. Their late hotel checkout, the same time as when their entire set needed to be taken down and stowed, allowed Bobbi the chance to man the merch table for the first time in over a week and expand her range of motion past her circulation of hotel rooms, the van and green rooms when not performing.

Bobbi let out a quiet sigh of relief when she saw Alfie already seated in the back of the van, on his way to a nice nap, Sam seated beside him with his own eyes closed. Bobbi received a terse nod from Alex before she returned her attention to her phone just as Bobbi climbed into the front seat. Theo took the driver's seat and they pulled out of the venue, headed for the open road. Her writing notebook slid out from underneath her seat during a sharp turn and Bobbi reached down to grab it.

"What's this doing here?"

Theo offered her the only source of information as the rest of the van had barely let out a snore in the previous hour.

"I imagine its to help you write that song you had promised Alfie you would."

"Did Alfie do this?" Bobbi huffed a breath of tired frustration as she glanced back over her shoulder.

"No. I did. Figured you couldn't write with out it. Besides, you promised."

Bobbi looked over at him but his eyes remained on the headlights leading him along the dark highway. She followed his gaze.

"Fine. Whatever."

"I officially offer my services as co-writer, if you need them." He glanced her way but his face remained serious.

He hadn't said much since finding her talking to Fisher. But his reserved manner was all she had at her disposal at the moment.

"Uh, yeah. Sure. That would be awesome. Thanks."

He gave her a small nod and turned his gaze back to the open road.

"My pleasure."

She opened the notebook and started working as he drove them to their next destination, their sleeping bandmates and shining moon illuminating the night their only companions.

A/N:

HIII!!!

Well, imagine that! I actually updated this story. RADICAL!!

Funny story. Half of it was already written. I just had to finished the beginning. I literally found it like a few days ago and thought I might as well post it.

Wow, Murph. Not very funny and actually not really a story at all!

Yeah I know but it's something.

But seriously. My sisters and I have a collective we call the Girl Power Galaxy. It's where different characters make a cameo in different books. We're basically creating our own universe so Marvel better watch out because we're coming for their brand. This is Annie's cameo, from my book, Go Home, Anne Marie. (If you haven't read that yet, you can find it on my profile. Gotta get that self promotion.)

I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I have no idea the next time I will be updating. But you can find me in the comments sections of @joymoment 's current books, making outrageous comments that don't make sense half the time except to me and her. If you see me, say hi won't you?

Peace.
