The hut
When Ben woke up the next morning he was greeted by the absence of Rey.
He looked around and couldn't find her. "Damn it", he grumbled to himself. So she had tried to leave him behind and it seemed she had been successful. But then Ben heard branches breaking a little to his left. He smirked a bit as he realised she hadn't gone too far. He followed the sounds and his smirk grew as he heard her cursing under her breath.
This second day was much like the first. Rey walked through the jungle and Ben followed her at a distance wondering where she was actually heading to.
At dusk Rey stopped at an overhanging rock. Ben came up to her and just looked at her. He raised an eyebrow, making it a question. Rey nodded and he took a seat beside her.
Soon he had started the campfire and took out some of the fruits he had gathered during the day. He held one of them to Rey and she took it.
"Thank you", she whispered. They ate in silence.
At last Ben couldn't stand it anymore. He cleared his throat and asked: "Is there a chance you can tell me where you are heading?"
"No", Rey answered. Ben nodded frustrated to himself. Of course she wouldn't tell him! What had he expected?
Rey must have seen his face since she went on: "It's not that I don't want to tell you. It's just I don't know where I'm actually going. I got lost." Her voice had become very low in the end and Ben could see the embarrassment on her face.
"It's okay", he said to comfort her. She looked up at him raising an eyebrow. "That can happen", he rambled on not knowing what to say now that she was finally talking to him. "Where did you want to go to in the first place? Maybe we can find our way together." She glared at him narrowing her eyes.
"We?"
Ben gulped. There was an undertone in her voice that made him sense he was nearing dangerous ground with her again. Why was it so hard to talk to her? He never had this problem with anyone else before. Maybe that was because he normally didn't care what other people thought.
He shrugged his shoulders trying to appear nonchalant. "It's just an offer", he said. Then because he didn't want to ruin their conversation ultimately, he thought of something to lighten the mood. So Ben began to tell her a story about how he got lost once as a boy. He had lived with his parents in a little village near a forest. He had played hide and seek with other kids and had found the perfect hideout. Only when night fell did he realise he had hid to well. He had been running around the forest screaming and crying until Chewie, who had been around for a visit, had found him and dragged him back home by the ear. Rey smiled a little as he told her how his mother had been upset because Chewie had thereby ruined his new trousers. Rey still smiled a small smile and said: "I'm going to sleep now." They each layed down on the ground facing in opposite directions.
"What colour did they have?", Rey asked suddenly. Ben wasn't exactly sure if he had heard her right.
"Excuse me?"
"The trousers", Rey clarified. "What colour did they have? I'm trying to imagine them."
"They were green. A light green", he answered.

When Ben woke up the next morning he saw Rey standing next to him ready to head out for the day. He looked up at her confused.
She stood taller and said: "Since you are following me anyway, we can walk together. But no talking at the daytime!" Had she just said that they could walk together? Had she implied that they could talk in the nighttime?
While he was still a bit confused, she turned around and called over her shoulder: "Are you coming?"
So on their third day in the forest they walked together. At the end of the day they still had no clue where they were. But they had found something else.
When night fell again they found a small uninhabited hut near a large lake. So they went inside and Ben started a fire in the hearth. They cooked some vegetables they had found along with spices.
"So...", Ben began. "It isn't daytime anymore. Am I allowed to talk to you now?"
"Yes", she answered. "You know... I- I liked the story you told me yesterday. Maybe you can tell me another?"
Ben looked at her and saw a blush creeping up her cheeks.
"Yeah... yeah, just let me think about it."
It wasn't what he wanted to talk to her about, but at least they had began to talk to each other. So they spend some time together near the fire and he told her stories. When the time came to get to sleep, they both looked to the only bed in the room.
"You can take it", Ben said. "I'll just lay down on the floor and use my cape."
---
Ben woke up as the light of dawn crept into the small hut. As he lay there for a moment looking up at the ceiling, he thought about the events of the last evening. It got easier to talk to her and she seemed to warm up to him, too. He looked over to the bed and his face fell.
She wasn't there.
Ben got up and looked around the hut. She wasn't there, though he had a feeling that he was missing something. So she had deceived him and had waited until she could slip away unnoticed. He felt anger rushing through him. And here he was, thinking she had slowly began to trust him.
Then he heard the scream from outside.
