Rey went down the icy halls of the old Hoth base. She could see people busy everywhere. They had landed a few days ago and eversince most of the Resistance was working to get the base running again. Rey helped them as much as she could especially with her knowledge of mechanics. She had gathered a lot of the later during her scavenging days.

Now she went past the working people to a part of the base that was silent and abandoned. In this parts you could still see the damage the attack of the Empire had caused. Most of this part was impassable but Rey was able to make use of her scavenging days here as well. She climbed across a pill of rumble and down the other side underneath some heavy blocks of ice and old machine parts until she reached the small cavelike room with the old bunk and table.
She had found it on her second day at the base when she went exploring. Now she used it as her refuge when she woke up yet again from one of the forest dreams or when she read in the books she had taken from Anch-Too. She hid them under the low bunk in this room since she wasn't sure how the others would react should they find out she had stolen them.

Rey sat down on the bunk and covered her face in her hands. She had awoken from that dream yet again. It unnerved her by now. It was unchanging and excruciatingly persitent. She knew it had meaning and by now she was sure it had to do with the Force. At first she hadn't realised it and thought it a mere dream. But when she came to think about it, it felt the same as the visions she experienced back in Maz's castle. When she had noticed it, Rey had looked for an opportunity to talk to Leia about it since she was the only person by now who she could ask about the Force. But since Leia had been realy busy the moment hadn't shown itself up until now.

Rey sighed. But this wasn't what  brought her to her hideout in the first place this morning. When Rey had awoken she had experienced something she had almost been used to back then and that left her shaking now. She had caught a glimpse of him.

It had been fleeting and she was sure he hadn't noticed because he was full of rage in that moment. She had seen him sitting in his bed, his skin sweaty and hands shaking. She had felt his emotions more often lately mostly because he seemed to be impatient and angry a lot of time, but this morning that had been a bit different as well. Yes, he had been angry when she saw him but underneath it all she could sense something else. Longing.

Rey shook her head as if to shake of the memory as well. She had to block him out somehow. She couldn't risk that he found out where they were hiding by accident. And she couldn't risk to let him inside of her head again. He had shown on Crait what he was capable of and what it meant when he came to them willing to destroy. She couldn't let someone like that get to her.

She sighed again and grabbed a book from underneath the bunk. Maybe she could find something in one of them that would help her. Reading was still new to her and it took her some time to work out the meaning of some of the words but she was improving. Poe had helped her learn reading during their weeks of journey to the base.

"You know, I don't think you'll find something useful in one of them."

Rey yelped in fright when she heard a voice next her and jumped from her bunk.

"Now, there is no need to scream at me like that. A simple 'hello' would be sufficient."

Rey couldn't believe what she saw. It was Luke and he was shining in some strange blue light.

"How... but... I could feel...", she stammered.

"How I faded away and became one with the Force?", Luke asked cheerfully. "Well, yes, that's right. And that is also the reason I can be here right now. It's a bit complicated how that works but when the time comes we will talk about that, too."

"But...", Rey started again. "Look", Luke interrupted. "I think it will be easier if we focus on the problems at hand. Don't you think so, too?" Rey was still irritated but nodded all the same. "Now tell me what's troubling you."

And Rey told him all about those dreams she had. She left out the part about her connection to Ben though. She could still remember Luke's reaction about it in the hut back on Anch-Too.

"So...", Luke asked when she finished, "what do you think they mean?" Rey simply stared at him. "I was hoping you could tell me."
"Nooo", Luke chuckled lightly. "That's not how the Force works. You should find out, I guess."
"But how? Don't you think I've tried?", Rey grew slightly annoyed.
"Well I think you have to find that out, too. You could talk to people, you know, ask them questions."
Rey just stared at him again. "Well, thanks for your help!", she answered sarcastically.
"You're welcome!"
"I didn't mean it like that!"
"I know", he chuckled as he faded away.

Note:
I'm sorry if you get a bunch of notifications. Like I said, I'm new to this and I keep noticing mistakes I made in grammar and so on. To improve things I try to correct them.
As for the story: I know there hasn't been any real interaction between Rey and Kylo/Ben but we are getting there. I promise! :-)
So long thanks for reading and  voting! It means a lot.
Sassy
