So, for the past two weeks in my choir class, we were tasked to write a rap about a significant event that made us who we are today.

What is an event that made you who you are today?

I chose, what I dubbed as, 'The Betrayal of Third Grade'.

I call the rap 'No Thanks To You'. It's about how in second grade, after learning about race, my best friend(who I considered to be my sister), along with the rest of my class(excluding 2) turned on me because I was one of 2 white kids in my class.

The rap starts with our friendship, the change, what happened, how I reacted, how their bullying affected my physical and mental health, how I responded to seeing them after a year, and ends with how their bullying affected my mental health today(even though I haven't seen or heard from or of them for three and a half years).

There will be a mention of self harm and depression.

Racism can happen to anyone, regardless of the color of their skin. My and my good friend, Ian, were the only two kids in my class who were bullied. Coincidentally, we were also the only two white kids in the class.

Racism can happen to anyone, and need to be aware of that.
