Chapter 1

"Goodbye mum!" Glow barked at his mother, leaving the den to go out in the forest to play. Glow never had friends, but he was satisfied with himself and his beloved mother. He never thought about what was out there... In the woods and the meadows that stretched far out to the mountains on the other side. He never met any other wolves, only his mother. Glow always wondered what it would be like if he met his father, who died in a fight with other wolves that were attacking his mother before he was born. He remembered his mother saying these wolves were called the "Outsiders". Luckily, Glow never cared or thought about these savages. The odd wolf with wings sniffed the ground with his wet nose happily, nudging aside dead leaves that crunched under his small paws. This young wolf listened to the singing of birds and the winds blowing in his keen ears. He always heard what seemed like whispering from the wind every now and then. He usually thought that it was just his silly imagination. A little while after his small hike, he heard tussling in the bushes. His big ears perked up in curiosity. He quickly crouched down in a pouncing position. His sea green eyes staring unblinking. He licked around his black lips that were beginning to drool with hunger. He picked up a scent blowing from the wind that it was two airhead rabbits playing together. He kept his tail low, along with his feathery wings that he hated. He had no use for his wings when he didn't even know how to fly. He swayed his tail from side to side, ready to spring off his strong paws. Silence soon fell upon the forest as another wind blew. Then he heard his heart pounding in his ears with excitement. Then a few heartbeats later, he sprung high into the air with all his might, landing in the bush. The rabbits scurried away as quick as lightning. The chase was on. He chased after them at top speed. The two white, fuzzy, rabbits split up and went in separate directions. Glow chased after the one that headed to the right. Dodging trees and bushes, Glow finally began to grow tired. His paws started to slow down and his blood was pounding in his ears. He let out his tongue to pant. The rabbit kept running, then disappeared into some thick undergrowth. He took in deep breaths, then he started to lay down to rest. The golden colored wolf glanced around for any other prey to catch. But there was nothing in sight, all was quiet. "Ha! Gotta love the good ole rabbits!" He laughed. He placed his paws in front of him, then he rested his head down, ready to take a quick cat nap. He looked at the leaves and branches above him swaying peacefully. His eyes slowly started to shut. Soon, he fell into the world of sleep. Calm waves of sunlight rushed over him. He found himself on the shore of a beach. The sun was setting on the horizon in front of him and past the vast ocean. The sun was a fiery, neon, orange. He lifted his chin up to the sky and closed his eyes to the sun. Breezes ruffled his chest fur. Glow slowly spread his wings as the wind blew through his glistening feathers. He took in the salty scent of the ocean. He breathed out a calm sigh of relief and enjoyment. Glow sighed, "Ahh... I wonder if I could just fly to the sun. I'm so close I could just touch it. But it's to far away. I know that there are other kind wolves out there that are ready to be my friends." He looked down at his paws that we're sinking into the sand. "There are son..." He heard an unfamiliar voice call to him. His eyes flew open in shock. He raised one eyebrow, confused. "Who are you? Who's there?" He demanded an answer. There was a chuckle from the voice. "Well, I didn't expect you to know who I am, so there is no need to be afraid." This deep voice responded kindly with no hostility. "How are you making communication with me?" Glow asked more confused then angry. He didn't know why he was growing angry in the first place. "I knew my son was in there somewhere... Well Glow, I'm your father. This might seem a little weird for you, but I can only talk to you through the wind. I always wanted to see you, but I knew if I didn't protect your mother from those Outsiders, I would never see you. And now, I finally can talk to you." His father explained.
