Chapter 9
We go to WalMart and fool around for a bit. I start yawning like crazy, and Chad decides to take me back to his place. "Thanks for that though," I say. He nods, "Anytime kiddo."
We get home, and I go back to bed. Surprisingly, I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Chad's POV
"Uncle Chad! Uncle Chad! Get up! Get up!" Is what I wake up to. I look over at Fallon, who is still sleeping peacefully. I sit up and see the girls, sitting at the side of my bed.
"What do you want?" I ask, laying back down. They stand up, so I can still see them. "We want pancakes!" Presley says. Rowe gurgles with joy, and AJ nods. "Make us breakfast, Uncle Chad?" AJ asks, with a puppy dog face.
I sigh, and plunk my feet on the floor. "Is Mia awake?" I ask. "Mia is sweeping," Rowe says. I chuckle, "I think you mean sleeping, honey." Presley nods, telling me I'm correct.
I take the three girls into the kitchen, and get them situated at the table. I take my tablet, and let them watch Mulan as I make them their food.
I make the pancakes, and I even fry up some bacon. I pour three glasses of orange juice, and one of milk and carry them to the table.
"Make sure Uncle Chad gets a cup of orange juice," I say sleepily. They nod and grin, and I go to finish their food. I take it to them, and bless the food, then the four of us dig in. The girls are still mesmerized by Mulan, even though they've seen it who knows how many times.
After they're done eating, and the movie's done, I decide to take the three girls upstairs to give them baths.
I quietly go into the room, and drag their three small duffles into the hallway, and get clothes for them to wear today.
"AveryJade, Presley, why don't you two quietly go downstairs and play with the dollies while Uncle Chad gives Rowe a bath, okay?" I ask. The two older girls nod, and obediently go downstairs.
I take Rowe, her clothes, and a towel into the bathroom. I run the bath, and dump some bubbles in. She carefully climbs in. I help her clean all the syrup off of her face and arms. She giggles happily playing with the bubbles, as I wash her hair. After she's dried off, and dressed I do the same thing with the other two girls.
By the time all three of them have had baths, Fallon is awake. Mia still isn't, I go back upstairs to check on her, while Fallon plays with the kids.
Mia is awake, I hear her crying from right outside the door. I knock quietly on the door, "Can I come in darling?" No reply. I knock again, this time Mia does reply. "Go away, Chad, I'm fine."
"Do you want breakfast? Or a shower?" I ask. "No, I'm fine. Josh is coming to get me in twenty minutes," she says. "You sure you don't want anything? There's some pancakes and bacon left from what the girls ate," I try to convince her.
"Chad, I promise you, I'm just fine," she sighs. I nod, "Well okay kiddo, if you need anything, I'm here. Love you." I walk back downstairs, and call Alan.
"Just talk to her, bro," he tells me. "She won't let me, I really want to though," I sigh. "Then sing," he says like it was so obvious. "What song?" I ask. "Chad, that's for you to decide upon," he replies, and the line goes dead.
I begin thinking, what song could I sing accapella? I've got it! It's not our song, but it's by some very close friends of ours, The George Twins.
I go up to her door, and open it, instead of entering the room, I stand outside and sing.
Silence sings when you're alone,
That you'll never have someone to hold.
Am I not good enough,
For love?
The dress looks right, but it just don't fit.
What does pretty look like when you measure it?
Feels like you're failing,
In every way.
This battlefield you're walking ain't no war that you can't win,
It's you against the yourself.
You're original; you're priceless.
Please don't hurt yourself.
You may not have a hand to hold;
A little bit cliché I know.
But you are...
Beautiful.
You can't escape these little screams,
Or the way other girls look on TV.
Seem you can't measure up,
At all.
The mirror cries on the wall:
"Who is the fairest of them all?"
Do you even want to hear the answer?
This battlefield you're walking ain't no war that you can't win,
It's you against the world.
You're original; you're priceless.
Please don't hate yourself.
You may not have a hand to hold;
A little bit cliché I know.
But you are...
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Let the battle be what it is,
A fight that has to win for you to see yourself...
Beautiful.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Beautiful.
I look over at Mia, who wipes away stray tears, as I end the song. She doesn't say anything, just hugs me. I hug her back, savoring the precious moment.
"I-I was having thoughts of self-harm a-again. I-I'm sorry. I-I don't know what I was t-thinking," she sobs out. "It's okay," I say, whilst rubbing her back. She lets out a sigh of relief, and kisses my cheek.
"Do you still wanna go home?" I ask. "Uh no," she replies. I grab her hand, and pull her to her feet, and lead her to the kitchen. "Promise me you'll eat?" I ask. She nods, "I promise."
I make her some toast, and out raspberry jam on it. She also has a glass of raspberry lemonade. I watch her, making sure she eats it all. She does.
"Am I going back to Alan's today?" She asks, wiping her face with a napkin. I shrug, "I really don't know, maybe you should call Josh and Alan to work stuff out." She nods, "I will. Josh and Jaxon leave tomorrow. Titus drove out here, so he's taking them home.."
"I know it's gonna be hard, but you've got me, Alan, Caleb, and Joey. You've got AJ, Pres, Rowe. You've got Kelsey, Brycie, Fallon, and even Jazmin. But most importantly you've got God, and with Him on your side, you can't lose," I tell her. She nods, "I guess I'm just nervous about leaving them again, last time I left, I lost mom and Meg."
"I know it's hard Mia, but we'll get through this. Together," I say. She giggles, "I know, Chad, we're all in this together!" I nod and boop her nose, "There's the silly Mia, I missed you girl!"
She giggles some more, and we go to watch Pocahontas together, with the kids and Fallon. The perfect way to spend the morning, with some of my favorite, perfect girls.
