Prologue.

The civil war had been and gone, the world seemed to have come to a stand still. No chaos, no havoc, no bad guys. Nothing. It was just...still.

Cluttering the Avengers compound was the Team of rag tag superheroes, all bored and all having nothing to do. There was nothing fix, nothing to tinker, no one to spar and no one to defeat. The compound was quiet.

They inhabited the couches in the common room, the TV buzzing soundlessly about something they had lost interest in hours ago.

Sat on the floor, with her back to the edge of the couch and a Rubik's cube in her flesh hand is our main heroine. Madeline Jackson. Her sunset coloured hair in a loose top knot, a moss green t-shirt covering her top section and black joggers concealing her legs which were tucked into fluffy bed socks.

Around her neck hung a clock necklace, which was gifted to her from a close friend who no longer walks beside her on Earth. The silver plated piece of jewellery was clutched tightly in her metal hand, not expecting the reaction to spark from it which did as the jewellery throbbed a purple colour.

The necklace and her hand as well as the cogs around her eyes sparked together, a purple bolt forming before her that quickly attacked her chest and eyes.

"Mads...you alright?" Sam questioned, noting the crack that filled the silence which emanated from her direction.

Said girl just smirked, she had her back to him, her face splitting into a dark grin as her eyes twisted purple for a minute before resuming their natural green colour with a dark glint in them.

"Fine dear," she said sweetly, face darkening as the Rubik's cube became smushed in her grip.
"Absolutely fine"
